Chapter 848: Unfriendly Visitors, Danger
Chapter 848 -705: Unfriendly Visitors, Danger
Zhao Lu took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the rage almost bursting from his chest, tidied up his slightly disordered collar due to agitation, and walked inside with a stern face.
Inside the door, the light suddenly dimmed, as if stepping into another world.
The air was filled with a distinct prison scent, mixed with the odors of old metal, disinfectant, dust, and an indescribable oppressiveness and despair.
The smell was not strong, but it was pervasive, making one feel suffocating psychologically.
Above, a sparrow circled and fluttered, but dared not land.
The rooftop of the Second Prison was covered with wire mesh and charged with high voltage 24 hours a day.
A sparrow might squeeze through the mesh gaps, but if it did, its flying skills would be too conspicuous.
Ahead, a figure approached unhurriedly; it was Liu Yi, who had recently returned. He scrutinized the two unexpected guests.
Zhao Lu felt extremely uncomfortable being watched, once again taking out his Mobility Department identification and waved it in front of Liu Yi:
“We are from the Executive Government’s Mobility Department, with urgent business requiring immediate audience with Feng Mu! Take us to him now!”
Liu Yi managed a three-part fake smile, devoid of warmth:
“Alright, no problem, you two officers have worked hard. However, unfortunately, our director is currently with guests and can’t leave for the moment.
Could I trouble the two of you to wait briefly in the lounge? Once the director is finished, I’ll immediately take you there.”
“Director? Wait?”
Zhao Lu paused, as if hearing an absurd joke, he sneered,
“What director? Feng Mu is just a mere prison guard, isn’t he? Did you not hear clearly? We are from the Mobility Department!
We have urgent matters to address with Feng Mu personally, and there’s no time to waste!”
Liu Yi’s fake smile disappeared, and he turned to signal to the side.
Instantly, four prison guards with masks and guns arrived, forming a semi-circle, subtly surrounding Zhao Lu.
Guns + masks = ??
It easily brings to mind unpleasant thoughts.
Zhao Lu’s face changed abruptly, mingled with shock and anger:
“What do you intend to do?”
A month ago, hearing the words “Mobility Department” might have frightened Liu Yi enough to tremble and respond submissively, wishing he could lie down to reply.
However, after experiencing a series of murder, arson, and explosions for training, he had seen things more awe-inspiring than official power.
Facing Zhao Lu’s fierce yet timid questioning, Liu Yi’s face was unchanged:
“I recognize you are from the Mobility Department, and I’m here to take you to the director as requested. However…..”
Liu Yi paused, then changed his tone:
“However, according to our Second Prison regulations, all visitors entering the prison area are prohibited from carrying personal communication devices.
This is to ensure the absolute security of the prison area and to prevent any potential information leakage and unexpected incidents. So please cooperate and hand over your phones.”
He extended his hand, making a “please hand over” gesture, as the nearby prison guard timely offered a cold metal tray.
Zhao Lu’s face became extremely unsightly, about to lash out, when his colleague behind him gave him a firm pat on the shoulder.
The colleague gave him an “endure the little to achieve the big” look, subtly shook his head.
The standoff lasted about half a minute.
Ultimately, Zhao Lu and his colleague reluctantly chose to comply, taking out their phones and placing them in the metal tray.
Liu Yi didn’t respond, merely gesturing them through the adjacent security gate.
The two passed through with gloomy expressions, and the security gate remained silent.
Once confirming no additional contraband was carried, Liu Yi slightly turned aside and gestured “please”:
“Gentlemen, please follow me.”
After the three disappeared, a masked prison guard remaining on the spot casually picked up the tray with the two phones, now shut down and with black screens.
He raised his head, gesturing nonchalantly at the surveillance camera above with a “done” signal.
Subsequently, the iron door emitted a deep hum again, swiftly and thoroughly closing once more, sealing off inside and outside.
Soon, he walked briskly towards the main prison building.
Very soon, these phones appeared on Gong Qi’s desk.
Seated at a workstation filled with various precision instruments and computer screens, Gong Qi took the phones and connected them to an unmarked black computer host via a specially crafted data cable.
His fingers danced swiftly over the keyboard, the screen flooded with cascading lines of code.
In mere minutes, the phones were forcibly unlocked, powered up.
Instantly, all stored information within the phones—contact lists, call logs, texts, various chat application data, photos, files…
All were laid bare before Gong Qi, who began quickly filtering and extracting valuable intelligence.
Meanwhile, in the office.
Feng Mu was still speaking with Li Shang, the previous serious topic concluded, the atmosphere shifted to nostalgia and casual chat, growing increasingly pleasant.
“Knock, knock.”
At this moment, there was a knock on the door.
Feng Mu paused the casual talk, saying lightly: “Come in!”
The door opened, Guan Chong entered, bowed slightly to Feng Mu, and reported:
“Director, two people from the Executive Government’s Mobility Department have come, requesting to see you.”
Feng Mu frowned slightly; he hadn’t interacted with the Mobility Department, though he had heard some of their reputation.
