Chapter 752: Chapter 657: Pupil Power Value, the Power of the Third Eye?!!

Ten minutes later.

Four frightened constables, in pairs, almost half-dragged and half-carried the "barely breathing" Li Shang and Chang Erbing out of the sewer passage.

Without any pause, they were quickly stuffed into the back seat of a blue-white police car parked not far away.

Old Wang and another older constable got into the same car, while the other two younger constables quickly ran toward another vehicle.

Just as the car door closed, Chang Erbing, not even seated properly yet, grabbed the back of the front seat tightly and urged urgently, still in shock:

"Quick! Drive, now... don’t run into [Mask] again!"

Before he finished speaking, the engine roared, and the car shot out like a startled wild horse, its tires crunching over gravel with a piercing noise.

Old Wang sat in the passenger seat, turned halfway around, still catching his breath from running:

"Captain Li, you two just ran into [Mask] again. How did you even end up in the sewer passage?"

Chang Erbing leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes, took a few deep breaths, his voice still trembling:

"Yeah, we ran into [Mask], almost didn’t make it back..."

Despite having guessed the answer, Old Wang still took a sharp breath upon hearing it. Instinctively, he glanced at the desolate scenery rapidly retreating outside the window and murmured:

"Captain Li, you two are really lucky this time..."

Old Wang actually had more questions to ask, but Li Shang didn’t give him the opportunity to continue.

Li Shang struggled to prop himself up, leaned forward slightly, locked his gaze on Old Wang, and asked first:

"Never mind us for now... Old Wang, how did you find us here? Is something big happening outside?"

Old Wang’s expression suddenly changed, as if he just remembered the most crucial thing, and slapped his thigh sharply:

"Oh no, Captain Li, something major has indeed happened. We were anxious to find you because of this.

The special agent’s villa has been attacked, the inside is a gruesome sight, and the agent is now missing, life or death unknown.

The Members of Parliament are furious, and the brothers are eager for you to return and solve the case..."

The special agent’s life and death are unknown?!

Li Shang’s pupils contracted sharply, his heart gripped harshly by an invisible hand and then suddenly released.

From Old Wang’s urgent words, he captured a plethora of information, and his mind spun rapidly, a surge of uncontrollable excitement rising from the bottom of his heart:

"The special agent’s villa was also attacked? Who could’ve done it, [Mask]? Regardless, the agent’s disappearance is the best news, ideally, he’s already dead, in which case..."

Though his heart was a sea of surging joy, his face showed just the right amount of extreme shock and disbelief.

Next, as if unable to hold on anymore, his eyelids fluttered, and he closed his eyes tight, his head tilting to the side as he "fainted" completely.

Almost at the same instant, Chang Erbing, as if telepathically, followed suit, tilting his head and "fainting" on the seat synchronously, flawlessly synchronized.

Old Wang gaped at the two who lost consciousness in an instant, the words on the tip of his tongue stuck in his throat.

He took a second to react, then urgently shouted at his colleague driving:

"Quick! Change direction! Head to the nearest hospital! Hurry!"

He fumbled nervously for his phone, pulling a crisp, new business card from his pocket, his fingers trembling as he dialed the number.

As soon as the call connected, he hurriedly reported:

"Secretary Hou, this is Old Wang from the Patrol Office!

We found Captain Li and Chang Erbing near an abandoned chemical plant’s underground well... Yes, but they’re in very poor condition, seriously injured, and already unconscious!"

He took a breath, his voice suppressed yet rapid:

"They must have encountered [Mask] and narrowly escaped with their lives... We are rushing to the nearest hospital now... Yes, yes, I understand..."

.....

The air was filled with an indescribable old staleness accumulated over the years, mixed with lingering oily fumes, the sour decay of garbage, and the moldy dampness exhaled by the old building under the erosion of time.

The building in front, with its mottled, peeling walls, exposed the varying shades of brick red underneath, like skin afflicted with scabs.

Most windows were narrow, with many households’ window frames having paint that was blistered and flaking, covered in rust.

Clothes hung outside the balconies swayed gently in the breeze, casting twisted and swaying shadows.

The building’s entrance seemed particularly narrow, the cement rain guard at the entrance cracked with several fissures, as if ready to collapse at any moment.

Hou Wendong stood in front of the building’s entrance, just concluding a phone call, his brow furrowed, the dim light of the screen still reflected in his eyes.

It was the need to take a call that kept him from going upstairs to visit Feng Mu’s home.

Just as he put down his phone, he looked up and saw Feng Mu quickly stride out from the darkness inside the doorway.

"Secretary Hou, sorry,"

Feng Mu spoke first, his voice steady, without a hint of ripples,

"I just went up to check, my father is not at home."

As he spoke, he naturally raised his phone in his hand, the screen still aglow, displaying the recent call interface:

"I called him again, but there’s still no answer."

Hou Wendong heard this and almost wanted to ask more questions, like "Where does your father usually go at night?" or "Where do you think he might be?"

But remembering the relationship between Feng Mu and his father, these words lingered on his tongue before he eventually swallowed them back down.
