Epic of Ice Dragon: Reborn As An Ice Dragon With A System

Chapter 2192: Meeting The Sea Dragons With Triton

Chapter 2192: Meeting The Sea Dragons With Triton

-----

After Drake brought along Triton to his Divine Realm, the first thing he did was go to the Draconic Records, because the boy has apparently never visited the place ever since he was born. And it made some sense, his mother had no idea how to let him go there, nor did the boy know either.

Aquarius, if he was alive, would have likely taught him how it was done, but he wasn’t here anymore, and so, this ended becoming Drake’s duty.

"You know what the Draconic Records are, Triton?" Drake asked.

"No..." Triton said, confused. "What is that?"

"It’s a special Realm only for us Dragons," Drake said. "It’s where our Souls can go and met one another, and also where our Souls can go after death."

"Wow, really?!" Triton asked. "Maybe I can find dad there?"

"Ah..." Drake fell silent for a moment. "No, your father... I don’t think he went there."

"W-Why?" Triton wondered.

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have explained things to you like that," Drake apologized. "But your father... your mother has never told you what he did?"

"No?" Triton was confused.

"I see, then why don’t we ask your grandmother to explain things to you?" Drake smiled, as the two stepped into an endless ocean, swimming down.

"Woah!"

Triton was shocked, as he was forced into his true dragon form instantly. Drake was quite surprised by his appearance, he was already gigantic as an adult sea dragon, with a huge body, four large limbs with sharp claws and fins, and also gills around his long neck, alongside a very long head, with golden horns aligned around it making his head resemble an harpoon.

His wings were modified to help him swim more easily than flight, but they were also capable of flight, something that not many knew about Sea Dragons, alongside their ability to unleash dragon breath regardless of being underwater.

"I see, so that’s your dragon form! You look almost like your father once did," Drake said. "Though, you look much slimmer, and your neck is way longer."

"W-What’s wrong with my long neck?!" Triton complained, noticing several shadows appearing. "Wait, where are we anyway?"

"This is the Draconic Realm of Sea Dragons," Drake said. "Look, they’ve already come to greet us."

"Eh?" Triton looked up, noticing giant sea dragons coming to greet them.

"Ooh! A young one!"

"It has been eons since we’ve been one of your age..."

"You must be... Aquarius’ son!"

"What a joyful day this is! Welcome, young one!"

The sea dragons were very kind and welcoming, greeting Drake and Triton. The boy was quite flustered to see more of his own kind, and didn’t even know what to say.

"This is Triton, yes, Aquarius’ son!" Drake said. "We’ve come to see his grandmother. I wanted to ask her for a favor, and also I wanted the boy to meet his family, this is his first time here you see."

"So that’s how it is, king!"

"Well, welcome here, young Triton!"

"Aren’t you a cute little sardine?"

"Very adorable! It has been ages since we’ve seen a baby..."

The female sea dragons were especially charmed by little Triton, their motherly instincts kicking in, as it has been thousands of years since their deaths and since the last time they got to see a dragon pup.

"Uuuhh... Uuhh... H-Hello..."

Triton, who was always cocky, suddenly got embarrassed in front of such a huge crowd, as they swam down into a beautiful garden of colorful corals, leading to an enormous coral palace where many sea dragons lived.

And right behind this palace, there was a massive whale-like dragon, hundreds of times the size of the rest... her titanic represented not only her strength, but also her status as the primordial mother of everyone here.

"Ran! I have come with your grandson!"

"Ooooh! Drake! I am so happy to see you around here! It has been a couople of years already, right? And- Ooooohhhh! Little boy?! Triton right?! He’s my grandson?! Oh! By Yggdrasil! What a cute little child!"

Ran happily embraced Triton with her gigantic flipper-like arms, as Triton groaned, thinking he was going to get crushed by her love, but he was fine.

"Uuuggh! P-Please don’t hug me like that!" Triton cried.

"It’s fine, it’s alright son!" said Ran. "I’m just sooooo happy to see you! You’re the first baby we’ve had in hundreds of thousands of years!"

"I-Is that so?" Triton was surprised. "I... uh, you’re my grandma?"

"Yes! I am! Oh! Am I too big and scary? I’m so sorry, that was just the way I was born from my mother," Ran laughed. "But fear not, my size only means I got even more love for everyone!"

"I... uh-huh," Triton nodded nervously, he didn’t really know what to say right now.

"I brought him here so he can get to know his family," Drake said. "Also, I’m going to train the boy."

"Train him?" Ran asked. "Ah... I see, so you want him to help you with your mission, young king?"

"Indeed, his strength... it’s necessary to protect and save this world from the danger that is approaching," Drake said. "That’s why I wanted to ask you if you could let us train in here, let him hunt the Soul Beasts, farm for materials, and more, so he can get a strong Soul Gear and refine his Soul better. You see, because of his unique composition and existence, I believe these materials would work even better on him, and not only make his soul stronger, but his whole body..."

"You mean... You’re not wrong, he’s very special," said Ran. "He’s very unique... his body is made out of a powerful soul, and his soul itself also merges with it. More than the usual physical body and ethereal soul, he has an ethereal and physical body and a... spiritual soul. What a unique child! Full of potential!"

"Wait, what? What do you mean?" Triton was confused. "I don’t get it... what am I?"

"Well, I suppose it’s about time we explain to him what he is, Ran," Drake said.

"Yeah..." Ran nodded. "My dear Triton, this is a story about your father, our greatest hero, and the man that gave his life... and soul, so you could be born."

"Eh?" Triton’s eyes widened, as he finally heard the full story of his father’s sacrifice.

How he fought to seal the Deep One, about his love with the priestess and oracle of the Mermen tribe living in the Archipelago, and how he created that place for them.

All of his heroic deeds, and why he did them, until the very end, where Drake and his friends confronted his father’s corpse, corrupted by the Deep One, who was finally purified.

And with his very soul and his beloved wife’s blood and her powers, they created an egg, where Triton hatched from.

"Your creation is a miracle, my dear grandson," Ran said. "You hatched from an egg born from your father’s soul and your mother’s blood and magic power..."

"So that’s why dad’s not here?" Triton asked. "That’s why... Uuhh... Sniff..."

The giant dragon boy started crying in the water, his tears resembling bubbles that flew upwards into the surface of the sea, Drake quickly patted his large head, comforting the boy.

"It’s alright, he’s not gone! He’ll always be there with you, protecting you," Ran said.

"It reminds me of Amethyst... her mother also died, although by other different circumstances," Drake said. "However, even then, part of her mother’s soul is now forever with her, as part of her new power."

"..." Triton remained in silence, thinking many things, more than a boy his age should.

"You need to harness this power," Ran said. "You must grow stronger, to honor your father’s legacy and also to protect the world... the world he died for."

"...I know," Triton nodded. "Thank you grandma, for telling me this... It still a lot of pressure but... Hah, I was getting a little bored back home, hehe."

"Hahah! That’s the spirit," Drake said, patting his back. "You’ve got a great destiny, being locked in an island forever... it’s not what your father would have wanted either. It’s your home and you can return whenever you want too but... you also have to explore the world and grow stronger. Just like Amethyst... I really need your help, but I don’t exactly want to force you to come along. That’s why I had asked you and then your mother about it."

"Ah... it’s ok," Triton nodded. "I guess that’s what my dad would have wanted anyway... So when do we start training? I want to see what I can do... what this body my father gifted me can do!"

"Fufu, you seem very eager already," Ran giggled. "Both of you are welcome to train in this Realm, I am sure that Triton will benefit the most from being here after all, his body is very unique."

"Indeed," Drake said. "He’ll learn how to channel its true power and the unique abilities it has... And for now, I guess I should go to the point I came here. I wanted to ask for something, a favor."

"Hmm?" Ran wondered. "Oh, my sisters told me already, I’m grateful you brought my grandson along first, it was nice of you, but you could have come alone, and I would have helped, young king."

Ran quickly moved her long whiskers towards Drake, touching his head and imbuing him with Primordial Essence.

"There you go! I heard you’re now more than capable of receiving our power now, you’ve surely grown!"

FLUOSH!

"Ooh?!"

Drake gasped, as a surge of new power coursed through his veins, this time it was like the sea waves washing through his body, with both intensity and gentleness.

"Nice, thank you!"

Drake saw the status messages and felt happy that it worked out well.

His next target were the Fire Dragon Realm and the Wind Dragon Realm, although he wasn’t sure what happened to the Fire Dragon Realm after they all became Surtr’s power.

After that, the only ones missing would be Moonlight Dragons and Phantom/Death Dragons, he had the bloodline of the latter, but no way to enter their Dragon Realm, perhaps because it didn’t actually exist.

From what he had learned, this Realm was actually just Helheim, the "Underworld" that exists beneath the surface of this world, a place he has no idea how to get into quickly.

Maybe the slowest way would be to dig through everything, he certainly had the power to do that... but not the time.

Therefore, he was aiming to meet with Celene, the Moonlight Dragon that lives in Svartalfheim among mortals, and Hydra, the Death Dragon that lives inside a black tower in Alfheim.

He was thinking of perhaps even recruiting them, as he had heard they were both extremely strong, yet secluded Dragons that didn’t want to get too involved with the world.

"Alright, how about we start with a warmup?" Drake wondered, quickly turning into a bright, golden serpentine dragon. "Let’s spar, Ran!"

"Spar?! Right here?" Triton asked. "B-But..."

"No buts! Come on and fight me boy!" Drake roared, rushing towards him. "We’ll spar here and then you’ll show me everything you’ve got!"

"Ugh, damn it! Fine, but don’t cry when I beat your ass, old man!"

Triton roared furiously, swimming rapidly towards Drake, as both clashed against one another. His sharp fangs rushing towards Drake’s neck, only to end up breaking his fangs.

"Aagh! W-What the...?!"

The boy was shocked of his durability, as Drake quickly slammed his body with his long tail, sending him up into the water.

RUMBLE!

As he rushed upwards, the boy quickly swam to the opposite direction, gaining momentum and spinning back to him.

At the same time, his Aura was released, resembling a roaring ethereal blue and golden dragon made of powerful Divine Soul Essence.

"ROOOAARRR!"

The boy rushed down, as Drake smiled, realizing that Aura resembled Aquarius a little too much.

It seemed that even now, he was protecting his son through his abilities.

"Hahaha! Not bad!"

Drake rushed towards the boy, his Aura transforming, growing several long dragon heads of rainbow ice, crashing against Triton and destroying his Aura, sending the boy flying upwards.

SPLASH!

Until he reached the skies, no longer in the water, and things only became worse, as Drake emerged from beneath, swinging his fists upwards and punching the boy in the guts.

"Come on, Triton! You’re not taking this seriously!"

BAAAM!

"GAAAGH?!"

The sea dragon boy vomited a mouthful of blood, his eyes spinning as he felt dizzy, flying into the blue skies of the sea dragon realm.

Some sea dragons looked at the boy with concern, but Ran didn’t, she knew that Drake’s training was harsh, but this was the only way that Triton could ever grow stronger quickly.

"Calm down, Drake may be a little harsh, but he mean no harm, his training is the best in this regard. Let him fight the boy, Triton still got plenty of power left, he’s helping him release it all."

Her voice echoed through the ocean, as the sea dragons looked from the sea, popping their heads from amidst the water and looking up.

"Well, let’s just trust mother Ran then..."

"Yeah..."

"But damn it! Can’t he be nicer?! He’s still not even an adult yet!"

"He’s a teenager, that’s enough to start toughing up, some rough love is what the boy needs."

"He’s Aquarius’ son! He was our strongest brother, so he has really big expectations to meet."
