"Because you all showed up, that woman’s like a dead fish now, totally killed my mood. So tell me... how are you going to make it up to me?"

The mercenary Boss heard Shen Tiancheng say that, and a complicated look slid through his pitch‑black eyes.

"Since it’s because of the woman... once we finish this job, we’ll send two peerless beauties to Young Master Shen. We’ll definitely make Young Master Shen very satisfied!"

Shen Tiancheng’s long, narrow eyes narrowed, the corner of his lips hooking into a cold smile.

"You think I’m going to trust you?"

"Even if Young Master Shen doesn’t trust us, you have to trust Commander Lu at least!"

Shen Tiancheng, whose whole body was steeped in murderous aura, pressed his lips together when he heard those three words, Commander Lu.

He shot a disgusted glance at Mu Tiantian, who lay motionless on the ground, then walked coolly toward the mercenaries.

"Fine."

A mercenary who’d long been unable to hold back, standing beside the Boss, spoke up quickly.

"Then this woman..."

"Dead‑fish in bed, really a buzzkill. If she weren’t Bai Chenyao’s woman, if she weren’t actually pretty, I wouldn’t have bothered. But in bed she’s really disappointing."

When Shen Tiancheng finished, he didn’t even look toward Mu Tiantian, already arriving at the mercenary Boss’s side.

The mercenary Boss knew damn well what his men were thinking, and he himself felt suffocated from holding back.

Since Shen Tiancheng despised Mu Tiantian for being boring in bed, to these men who hadn’t touched meat for more than half a year, interesting or not didn’t matter—so long as it was a woman, that was enough.

"Then, Young Master Shen—"

Before the mercenary Boss could finish, he saw Shen Tiancheng pass by him and walk off without looking back.

"Boss!"

The other mercenaries had already been waiting impatiently.

The mercenary Boss thought of Lu Chengkuan’s words, saying this woman had to stay alive until she saw Bai Chenyao.

But when he thought of how so many of their brothers had died at Bai Chenyao’s hands, the mercenary Boss couldn’t stomach it, and besides, a woman dying an unnatural death in this stretch of primeval forest was the most normal thing in the world.

"Since Young Master Shen doesn’t care, then we naturally know nothing!"

The moment the mercenary Boss finished speaking, the mercenaries beside him cheered, some even too impatient to bother pulling down their pants, and lunged at Mu Tiantian like wolves.

Because of this sudden excitement, none of the more than twenty men noticed that the mercenary carrying the machine gun at the back of the line had silently collapsed.

The instant the mercenaries pounced on Mu Tiantian, what awaited them was not a woman’s soft body, but a lethal strike.

By the time the mercenary Boss reacted, the bullet had already pierced through the center of his back.

"Shen—"

Staring in disbelief at Shen Tiancheng, who was sweeping them down with the machine gun, the mercenary Boss’s body hit the ground with a heavy thud.

And Mu Tiantian, who had been lying on the ground seemingly lifeless, rolled on the spot when she heard the gunshots, dropping right into the cave opening.

A sharp pain exploded in her back—she knew she’d slammed into a rock beside her. A bang sounded by her ear, then her arm flared with pain as Mu Tiantian dodged the fatal strike from the mercenary closest to her, quickly lifting her leg and kicking him viciously away.

Right after, she saw a bullet pierce through that mercenary’s brow. His furious eyes bulged wide, and with a bang he collapsed beside her.

"Tian Tian!"

Shen Tiancheng flung the gun in his hand to the ground and rushed to Mu Tiantian at top speed, hauling her up from the floor.

When he saw the blood on her arm, Shen Tiancheng’s expression turned ice‑cold, and he swiftly carried Mu Tiantian out of the cave.
