Chapter 157: The Academy Is Quite Diverse
After starting the morning with a fantastic session of sex with Val, I was in an exceptionally good mood.
[Me too!]
’Of course, you are.’
While Val dressed back into her sleek, familiar bodyguard suit, I went downstairs to the kitchen to whip up a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs, toasted bread, and hot tea. We ate together at the dining island, chatting casually, before setting out for the day.
Our very first destination was the central Administration Building.
Although my administrative paperwork had already been processed by Dad before we left the estate, Avalon Academy maintained strict identity protocols. Because of the sheer number of high-tier shape-shifters, illusions, and divine proxies in the supernatural world, the academy required every student to present themselves in person to collect their student tokens, spatial keycards, and course materials.
Opening the academy map application on my phone, I easily pinpointed our route. The campus layout was clearly marked, and the Administration Department sat within a cluster of massive castle spires located in the central academic district.
Stepping out of Residence 104, Val fell into place half a step behind my right shoulder, her sharp eyes constantly scanning the tree lines and rooftops out of habit.
The morning sun illuminated the broad stone walkways of the Eastern Wing. As we walked toward the central district, the campus came alive with hundreds of students heading to their morning lectures.
It didn’t take long to notice the student uniforms.
The dress code was surprisingly flexible, allowing students to adapt the base uniform to their personal preferences or cultural background.
For the guys, the standard outfit consisted of crisp black trousers paired with a fitted white collared shirt. Some wore tailored black blazers over them, others wore long shoulder capes fixed with silver crest brooches, while a few simply walked around in their shirts with open collars and rolled sleeves.
The girls wore sharp pleated skirts paired with white blouses, either short or long-sleeved depending on their preference. Some layered their blouses with structured black corsets, others wore fitted blazers, and a few wrapped themselves in sweeping velvet shoulder capes that fluttered behind them as they walked.
What caught my attention even more than the clothing was the sheer diversity of the student body.
Avalon Academy was an absolute melting pot of pantheons, mythical realms, and supernatural bloodlines. Hundreds of youths walked the pathways, representing every corner of the world. Interestingly enough, regardless of their true origin, almost every student maintained a form as close to humanoid as possible, a practical necessity for navigating human-built architecture, though their distinct racial traits remained clearly visible.
Off to my left, a group of tall, athletic girls walked toward the training grounds. Tucked neatly beneath their velvet shoulder capes were pairs of sleek, metallic silver wings that rested against their backs...Valkyries from the Norse delegation.
[So hot! Muscle mommy!!!]
A few yards ahead, a girl with pale blue skin and ice-crystal highlights in her braided hair walked alone, a massive frost-covered broadsword strapped across her back. She carried a cold, unyielding pressure around her that made nearby students instinctively step aside as she passed.
Near a fountain, a striking girl with long red hair, sharp fox ears twitching atop her head, and a sleek katana strapped to her waist stood talking to a tall guy with subtle dragon scales lining his neck.
Further down the path, a tanned girl wearing golden sun-disk bangles on her wrists walked past us, holding an ancient stone tablet in one hand while swiping across a floating holographic screen with the other. Her dark eyes met mine for a brief second as we crossed paths, her aura radiating the dense, golden heat of the Egyptian desert before she looked away.
Demigods from the Greek pantheon, beastkin from the Western reserves, high-elves, dryads, and daemon-hybrids all walked the same marble avenues, trading casual banter or shooting competitive glares at rival factions.
"The diversity on this campus is impressive," I remarked quietly, keeping my pace steady.
"Avalon serves as the primary neutral ground for the younger generation of every major realm, Seth," Val explained from behind me, her voice calm and professional. "It is one of the few places in existence where demigods, spirits, and high-tier bloodlines interact daily without sparking immediate territorial wars."
"Makes my goal a lot easier," I smirked, glancing back at her. "I don’t even have to travel to different dimensions to recruit candidates for my deck."
Val offered a small, quiet nod, a faint spark of amusement flickering in her violet eyes. "Indeed. The candidates are delivering themselves directly to your doorstep."
We continued down the main avenue until we reached the central academic plaza.
Rising out of the center of the plaza was a massive, ancient castle constructed from dark slate stone. High Gothic spires stretched into the clouds, but embedded directly into the ancient stonework were massive glass walls, automated mag-lev elevators, and glowing blue runic projection arrays. It was a seamless blend of medieval architecture and high-end futuristic technology.
Pushing through the heavy double oak doors of the main entrance, we stepped into the grand lobby of the Administration Department.
The lobby was vast, featuring a high vaulted ceiling supported by marble pillars. Dozens of glowing reception counters lined the floor, where administrative clerks were hard at work handling student inquiries, course registrations, and facility permits. Quite a few of the clerks behind the counters were actually senior students earning academic credits.
The moment Val and I walked through the doors, the ambient noise in the lobby noticeably dropped.
Dozens of heads turned in our direction. Whispers instantly rippled across the counters as staff and senior students recognized Val’s distinct Fernando security uniform, Yoona’s presidential clearance tag on my jacket, or simply caught wind of the rumors regarding the spatial disruption outside the island yesterday.
"Is that him...?"
"That’s the transfer student who arrived in President Yoona’s private jet..."
"I heard the Chancellor personally met him on the sky-dock..."
"He’s so handsome!!!"
"Calm down, woman. You’re already getting wet."
"Not my fault I’m already imagining him ravaging and destroying my pussy all while I struggle to keep up with him."
"....you got some crazy head on your shoulder, woman."
"Get the fuck away from me!"
