Endless Leveling Done Right!
Chapter 799: The Clash Of Two Worlds [Part 4]
"Looks like the you in this world have a bit of backbone in this world, sister of mine," Reverse Lapiz said as she deflected Aeris’ arrows with her death scythe. "Good. Very good!"
Aeris, who was unleashing a barrage of arrows at her sister’s counterpart, was quite surprised. Before now, she never thought that she’d see her sister wield a scythe.
But, it didn’t take long for her to remember the gift that she had gifted her sister during her last birthday. She gave him the Pseudo-Legendary Weapon, Enigma.
A weapon that could transform into any kind of weapon that perfectly matches the wielder’s specialty.
Lapiz also recognized the weapon, but it still surprised her because Reverse Lapiz was wielding it as if it was aprt of her body.
Right now, her preferred weapon was still a bow, supplemented by wind magic.
But a scythe?
She should probably start training herself in using this weapon too.
Looking at their surprised reactions, Reverse Lapiz smiled faintly.
"Surprised?" Reverse Lapiz asked as she twirled the scythe in her hands. "If you’re wondering why I like to use this weapon... let’s just say that there were circumstances that led to it."
"And what are those circumstances?" Aeris asked.
"Sister, shouldn’t my counterpart be the one asking this question?" Reverse Lapiz asked.
"Is a scythe really better than a bow?" Lapiz inquired in response, dying to know the answer.
"Oh, dear... should I answer or not?" Reverse Lapiz playfully pressed her hand over her cheek as if she was seriously pondering this question.
Her carefree smile, her overflowing confidence, and the way she carried herself looked so natural that Lapiz understood that she was indeed her counterpart.
Reverse Lapiz had everything she wished she ever had in the past before she accepted her feelings for Alex.
And just like how she envied her perfect sister, Lapiz also felt that the person she was looking at right now was the person she had always aspired to become.
The confident elven princess whom everyone would look up to.
A minute later, a giggle escaped Reverse Lapiz’s lips.
"I thought about it for a bit. And so, I’ve decided that it will not do you any good to know anything about it right now," Reverse Lapiz said. "However, you don’t have to worry about it. Since we are going to take over this world, that incident will not come to pass. You can stay as you are. Pure and untainted, my dear counterpart."
"I am no longer pure and untainted," Lapiz answered in return. "Alex already made me his woman."
"Oh?" Reverse Lapiz arched an eyebrow at those words.
According to the information that Reverse Lulu and Reverse Lala had brought her back in the past, the Lapiz of this world was shy, soft-spoken, and timid.
She wasn’t someone who would openly declare things out in the open, especially embarrassing things like Alex taking her maidenhood.
Well, she was still technically a maiden. After all, the deed had been done in this world, and her current body wasn’t truly hers.
That said, she had already experienced what it was like to make love with someone, so she was no longer as innocent as her counterpart thought she was.
"Well, your gaze does tell me that you’re not bluffing, so it must be true." Reverse Lapiz smiled after that. "Good job!"
There was no hint of disappointment in her voice. In fact, she sounded very happy.
"Thank you?" Lapiz blinked in confusion, sensing the genuine sincerity coming from her opponent.
"Lapiz, don’t treat her kindly," Aeris warned her. "She might look like you and speak like you, but she’s not you. Do not forget that."
"Yes, sister." Lapiz nodded.
"How touching." Reverse Lapiz clapped her hands. "I wish my sister was like the Aeris of this world. Still, despite her inferiority complex and weak will, she was still able to get pregnant with my beloved’s child. Since that is the case, I have high hopes for you."
Aeris flinched after hearing that her counterpart was currently pregnant with Reverse Alex’s child.
In fact, exposing this fact was more effective than an attack. Aeris had always been composed with strong willpower, yet here she was, blushing and distracted.
Seeing her reaction, Reverse Lapiz giggled once more.
"Oh, how precious," Reverse Lapiz said at the sight. "Don’t worry. I’ll make sure the two of you will remain unharmed. In fact, I’ll make sure that your precious Alex won’t be harmed as well."
"Do you have the ability to do that?" Lapiz asked with genuine curiosity. She then pointed at Reverse Alex, who was currently fighting against Alex, Renard, and Cairo."Can you convince him to make that happen?"
"Of course, I can," Reverse Lapiz answered without hesitation. "My husband will not defy my will."
She said it with enough conviction that Lapiz and Aeris instinctively believed that she wasn’t lying.
They originally thought that Reverse Alex’s words were law and that no one among his companions could defy him.
Yet, Reverse Lapiz spoke as if this was the absolute truth.
"You think I’m lying, right?" Reverse Lapiz smirked. "Well, that’s fine. It doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not. What matters is that what I say will come to pass. Besides..."
She then disappeared from where she stood and reappeared behind Aeris, hugging her from behind.
"I really care for and love my family," Reverse Lapiz said, holding Aeris tightly. "Whether it is from this world or my own world. Also... it seems Mother is also here."
Reverse Lapiz’s gaze then landed on Elaris, who was currently on the ramparts of Everdawn City, looking at the unfolding battle from a distance.
"You came here to Hy-Brasil to save her, right?" Reverse Lapiz added. "If I only knew where Hy-Brasil is in my world, I also would have gone to find her. Unfortunately, I have no idea where it could be found."
The regret and disappointment in her voice were so real that Aeris stopped trying to free herself from Reverse Lapiz’s grasp.
"Anyway, the outcome of our battle isn’t important," Reverse Lapiz continued to hug Aeris while staring at the fight in the distance. "If anything, the one who will decide the outcome of this match has always been them. We are merely background characters in this setting. Mere noise that will not be able to change anything. So, let’s not fight."
Reverse Lapiz finally let go of Aeris and reappeared in front of Lapiz.
She then hugged her counterpart and started to whisper something in her ear, which made Lapiz blush.
Reluctantly, Lapiz replied, and soon, the two of them started talking in earnest, completely ignoring the battle around them.
Aeris blinked once, then twice, wondering to herself if she could shoot an arrow at Reverse Alex in the distance now that she didn’t need to fight her sister’s counterpart.
However, her instincts were telling her that if she really did that, she would be making the greatest mistake of her life.
Although it was difficult, she slowly lowered her weapon and stared off into the distance.
Then, her gaze focused on the person that had made her feel things that she had never felt before in the past.
The man that she didn’t think too highly of in the past, but suddenly became the central figure of her life in the span of a few days.
’Don’t lose...’ Aeris prayed silently to whichever God or Deity could hear her at the moment. ’Please don’t lose.’
At this point, she noticed that all the other battles aside from Alex’s battle had come to a complete stop.
Her gaze then shifted to Efa and Himea.
However, something caught her eye, which made her focus her attention in that direction.
Astrea.
She wasn’t paying attention to the battle.
No.
Instead, she was hovering in place, looking blankly at the space in front of her as if she was in some kind of trance.
Yet, for some reason, Aeris felt like something was happening to her.
Something that might change the outcome of this war... for better or for worse.
