Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 819: Spark of Enlightenment

Chapter 819: Spark of Enlightenment

Another 100 years passed since the Bug Empress finally relaxed and returned home.

The situation on the frontlines remained hectic, but only on the surface. In truth, everybody was relaxed and at ease even with the unceasing waves of bugs crashing to their defensive lines.

To sell the deceit even more, they would occasionally use their huge weapons to completely vaporize the waves of bugs, acting as if they’re desperate for breathing space. They know that the Bug Empress will learn of this through the Hive Mind, so they had to sell the act in a very convincing manner.

They had to do this so that she won’t get suspicious too soon. And they’ve been able to sell the act for the past 100 years so far.

Gibson remained at the workshop in the Space Marine Base, tinkering and testing weapons. He was so absorbed in this project that he had completely missed the passing of time.

If it weren’t for his bots reminding him, he wouldn’t even realize that it’s been a hundred years since he started working on this project.

And even after that much time, the project was still far from done. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any progress.

It’s Gibson; of course there will be progress.

He already identified the materials he would need to create the weapon he had in mind. He also has blueprints for prototypes as well.

The problem was the materials themselves. Creating a weapon that could kill the Bug Empress requires a lot of rare, or even exotic, materials. Things that he’d need to scour the entire Heavenly Stat Chaos Realm for to find.

In fact, some of these materials were so rare that he had to rely on luck and natural phenomena to get them.

So far, he has only gotten a handful of what he needs. And those were far from enough. Even if he were able to gather a complete set of materials, the most he could create right now was a prototype—one that would obviously be flawed.

Who knows how long it’d actually take him to make the perfected one?

But even so, Gibson wasn’t deterred. He swore to complete this project by hook or by crook. He was fully invested now, and there’s no going back.

Meanwhile, Urek and Berk were off doing their own thing. Nobody cared too much about whatever they did; so long as it didn’t cause disaster to their home, all was fine.

Nicholas and Patricia, on the other hand, were still in their solitary seclusion.

They’re still far from getting to where they actually want to be. However, there’s some good news at least.

They’ve found the spark.

It’s nowhere near the actual origin laws themselves. Both of them know that that’s still too far from their grasp. However, it’s certainly a start.

That spark was the beginning of their journey towards elevating their concept laws to the Origin Law level. And it took them about 150 years to catch a glimpse of it.

See, from where they stand, it’s truly difficult to see any progress…

Heavenly Laws, in truth, were just fragments of Origin Laws…pieces to a much bigger puzzle that could unlock the true mysteries of the Primitive Universe.

Each fragment is called ’essence,’ and each one is unique on its own. To receive the recognition of Origin Laws, an individual must collect all of the essences needed and fuse them into one.

The amount of essences needed to be fused to get the recognition of origin laws isn’t static. It depends on what concept law one wanted to elevate, instead.

Common concept laws, like the five fundamental elements, needed at least 30 essences. Rare concept laws like thunder, ice, light, darkness, etc. needed at least 45 essences. And for the rarest and most mysterious concept laws, like space, time, karma, divination, etc., a minimum of 60 essences were needed.

Again, and this must be emphasized, Heavenly Laws are just fragments—’essences’ of the Origin Laws. Pieces to a greater puzzle.

Knowing and mastering a single Heavenly Law, in truth, is just comprehending one of the many essences needed to be fused to one to gain the recognition of the Origin Law.

This incredibly daunting truth was the very thing Nick and Pat realized when they caught that spark. It imparted to them this knowledge—a way forward—and it made them realize that they’ve been doing it the wrong way since the start.

Instead of elevating the Heavenly Laws, they’re already known to the Origin Law level. What they should do is to discover the other Heavenly Laws/essences/puzzle pieces that they’re missing.

This realization was just as enlightening as it was dreadful.

None of them knew that it’d be this difficult. Their predecessors never told them about this, which was normal given how they’ve already surpassed them.

There was a lot of work ahead of them, it seems.

But the good thing, at least, is that the path ahead was already illuminated.

With at least one Heavenly Law/Essence completely understood and mastered under their belt, it shone the way to others. All they have to do is to search and comprehend the rest; then, when they’ve got all they need, they could compress all into one and wait until they receive the recognition of Origin Laws before attempting their breakthrough.

Actually, they’re not limited to just a single origin law either. There were no rules barring them from receiving the recognition of more than one origin law.

However, considering the difficulty of doing that and how pressed they were for time, this was certainly a matter for the distant future. Right now, their focus was on a single one first. The rest could come later or after they reach the Primal Origin Lifeform realm.

Nicholas picked the Law of Destruction. It’s not the only law he knows, but it’s one he’s the most familiar with.

In the past 100 years, after they’d seen the spark and were enlightened with the path forward, Nick had been focusing on comprehending other Essences of Destruction one by one.

Since the Law of Destruction was one of the more elusive concept laws to comprehend, at base, he needed to comprehend a minimum of 60 essences of destruction and then later fuse them into one.

The good thing was, despite the differences between essences (since each one was technically unique on their own), the basis was still the same. Meaning that it wasn’t really that difficult for him to grasp the other essences since he already comprehended one.

Furthermore, Nicholas was the most talented human of his era. Even after the tragedy of his wife, his talent never disappeared; it just dimmed. He was a once-in-a-lifetime genius, and the more he explored the path forward, the faster his spirit rejuvenated.

Nick was starting to enjoy tackling the challenges ahead of him. He was beginning to remember how fun it was to practice and see actual progress.

Because of this, he had managed to comprehend a total of 11 Destruction Essences during the past 100 years. Meaning that he had comprehended and mastered the Destruction Laws ten additional times in the past century or so.

Although it’s still far from the desirable outcome. Nick was very aware of how much this elevated his own strength. Hell, the temptation to pick a fight with the Bug Empress was becoming a little too strong for him to ignore lately.

Of course, it won’t stay this way. The more essences he comprehends, the more difficult it’ll be for him to progress forward.

But with his fighting spirit being stoked and rejuvenated from this, there’s no way Nick would stop now. He was very determined to see this to the end.

And if the Bug Empress ever decides to waltz in here to interrupt or threaten his people again, Nick wouldn’t mind bashing her face in. He was so confident that he could do that on his own now. And the idea itself was so incredibly satisfying.

Patricia, obviously, was the same.

Her specialty was Soul Laws…and you won’t find anybody in this chaos realm better than her when it comes to that.

Soul power, spiritual power, and so on…all of this was right up her alley. Nobody understands the soul and the spirit better than Patricia in this entire chaos realm. This is why she could heal the battered and beaten souls of her fellow councillors after their failed breakthroughs.

Like the Law of Destruction, Soul Laws needs a minimum of 60 essences. The total amount is a mystery for now, but at least 60 essences were needed.

So far, like Nick, she has comprehended a total of 11 essences and is halfway through comprehending the 12th.

It was difficult, tedious, and repetitive. But the improvements didn’t lie. She feels way stronger already. She could easily defeat herself a century ago in her current form. That’s why, despite how boring it was, she stuck to it.

The clarity and sensation of progress were addicting for both of them. So much so that they didn’t even take a break in between. They remained in seclusion, determined to see this through to the end.

How long this takes them is a mystery for now, but at the very least, they finally have a clear direction to follow.
