Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World

Chapter 442: Frieza’s Shock And Dealing With The Watcher

  • Next Chapter

While Caelus and Sylvia entered the Abyss, the Heavenly Lord opened his eyes within a white void.

"It’s finally time to bring Death and Life back."

He raised one hand and reached toward the Tier 2 World. A line appeared before him, but it vanished before the passage could open.

The Heavenly Lord frowned and tried again with more force, tearing space beneath his hand with a sharp CRACK! Yet the opening led nowhere because something had cut the connection to his destination completely.

He released his full power until the white void shook around him. However, the passage collapsed again before he could establish a connection with the lower realm.

"What power is this? How can I be blocked from entering the Tier 2 World?"

He examined the severed link while the disturbance around him settled. Even now, his authority could not reach past it.

"I control part of the authority. How can someone else’s authority overrule mine?"

For a moment, he considered an answer that made him slightly shook.

"Could it be a Primordial?"

Then he shook his head and searched the broken connection again.

"That’s impossible. A Primordial cannot exist here when they’re all at the end of time."

But if it was not one of them, who could interfere with authority on this scale? The Heavenly Lord closed his hand and crushed the useless opening before him.

"Who dares to disrupt my plans?"

By then, Caelus and Sylvia had emerged onto the battlefield where they had left the Abyss. He recognized the broken ground and remembered how badly he had wanted to escape this place.

"How nostalgic. Last time we were here, I couldn’t wait to leave."

Before Sylvia could answer, a heavy pressure fell over them and forced the loose stones into the ground. Caelus looked up to find two enormous spiraling eyes watching them through the dark sky.

"Well, well. If it isn’t the Watcher."

His smile turned cold as he remembered fleeing from this thing. Now he could see the concepts holding its existence together, though they were harder to make out than those in the Tier 2 World.

Even so, he could tell where to cut to end its existence permanently. Before he acted, a familiar power stirred inside him and spread through his Divine Body.

[Ding! Your Crown-Rank strength is returning to you.]

Caelus examined the returning power and immediately frowned. It was far stronger than he had expected.

"What the heck? Was it always this strong?"

Crown Rank had been the peak of the Abyss. Now that he could compare it properly, the strength returning to him was on the level of an Origin Lord in the Tier 2 World.

Perhaps the Abyss’s lower dimensionality had changed how that power worked beyond its borders. If he could raise the dimension of this place, could he turn it into another Tier 2 World?

The thought had barely formed when someone appeared beside them.

"Caelus? Sylvia?"

Frieza stared at them as though he expected them to disappear again. Caelus smiled at the familiar face and greeted him.

"Yo, Frieza. It’s been a while."

He could finally sense the strength beneath the man’s presence. Frieza was bound to the Abyss itself, with his soul and authority woven into its underlying laws.

The core supporting him carried Lesser God power. Through that bond, Frieza had become an existence on the same level.

"What do you mean it’s been a while?" Frieza asked. "You only left three days ago."

Caelus looked toward Sylvia and found her staring back at him.

"Three days? That’s all the time that passed here?"

"Yes. Why are you looking at me like that?"

Caelus thought about everything they had done since leaving and let out a breath. Time flowed differently here, so he should not have been so surprised.

"For you, it’s been three days. It’s been a year for us."

"A whole year?"

Frieza looked between them before nodding as he seemed to understand.

"I suppose that makes sense with the difference in time."

"Looks like we have plenty to catch up on."

Before they could continue, the pressure above them suddenly increased. Frieza turned toward the Watcher and raised his hand to stop the force from crushing the battlefield.

"Stay close to me. That thing is still as strong as you remember."

Caelus could sense the strain beneath Frieza’s defense. The previous Ender had already lost Azure Origin Planet once and remained here after rebuilding it through the Abyss’s records and his own memories.

Even after everything he had lost, he was still protecting this place from the Watcher. Caelus stepped past his raised arm and looked toward the eyes above them.

"Don’t worry. I’ll handle it this time."

Immediately after, he released his Lesser God power and brought his Origin Lock out with it.

BOOM!

His presence swept across the entire Abyss in an instant. Then the world itself began trembling as its hidden concepts appeared beneath his senses.

Frieza’s defense fell away beneath the far greater power spreading from Caelus. He turned toward him in disbelief while the Watcher’s pressure was pushed back into the sky.

"This power... Caelus... What did you do out there?"

Caelus kept his attention on the enormous eyes. Although their concepts were harder to study here, he had already found what he needed.

[Skill Activated: Origin Lock.]

He cut through them with a single movement, causing the spiraling eyes to break apart before the Watcher could react. Its pressure vanished immediately after, leaving no trace of the existence that had once forced him to flee from here with all his life.

After checking that nothing remained for the Watcher to return through, Caelus reached deeper into the Abyss.

Destroying the Watcher would mean little if the rule it served remained. The Reset had been placed here to consume everything once an Ender reached Crown Rank, and Frieza had already paid the price for it and his own planet almost paid that price once too.

Caelus followed that rule through the world until he found how deeply it was rooted. Removing it would take more than the strike that had killed the Watcher.

Frieza’s existence was also bound to this place, so he could not simply tear through everything connected to the Reset. Instead, he began separating it from the laws around it.

Frieza moved toward him, but Sylvia stopped him before he could speak.

"Wait. He’s trying to remove the Reset Rule permanently."

"He can do that? How did he get this strong in just a year?"

Caelus heard them but kept his attention on the rule. Each connection he removed exposed another beneath it, forcing him to work farther into the Abyss.

The ground trembled several times during the next two hours. Whenever the disturbance spread, he held the surrounding laws in place and continued cutting only what belonged to the Reset.

Eventually, he reached the last connection and severed it before checking the world from end to end. The command to consume and reset the Abyss was gone, while the world Frieza had protected remained intact.

Only then did Caelus withdraw his power and turn toward them.

"Done."

He slowly turned towards Frieza and smiled. "Let’s catch up now shall we?"
