Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1558 - 1599: Inquiry
Returning to the May residence, it was already afternoon. Jeremiah was still in school attending classes and hadn’t returned yet. After exchanging pleasantries with Old Master May, Atlas Shaw accompanied the little one to play.
Kyle Kinston and Mabel Quinn decided to first find Amelia Foster.
At this moment, inside Amelia Foster’s servant dormitory, Amelia looked at the couple in front of her, utterly bewildered. Yesterday, after returning home, she had already learned from other servants and her elder sister about the social status and identity of the biological parents. Upon realizing, she nearly dropped her jaw in shock.
The handsome man before her, she initially thought he was merely someone from a wealthy family. But in truth, he was far beyond that; he was the leading figure of Falling City, essentially controlling the entire city. And the biological mother of the little one was not only a head screenwriter but also a young lady of a prestigious family in J City—a status that was utterly unreachable and unlikely to intersect with her own life.
Yet, she ended up adopting their child.
The little girl she adopted in her village, dirty and injured, turned out to have such an eminent background, something she had never imagined before.
"I... I’ll make some tea for you two." After a moment, Amelia Foster finally thought of something she could do, hurriedly taking out teacups and tea leaves.
"No need..." Mabel Quinn began to speak, but Kyle Kinston gently squeezed Mabel’s hand, interrupting her. He then said to Amelia, "Thank you, that would be lovely."
"Not a problem, not a problem!" Amelia said repeatedly, as if Kyle’s words had managed to make her feel relieved.
Mabel was momentarily surprised, but then understood Kyle’s intention. She hadn’t meant to trouble Amelia, but this might have inadvertently made Amelia uncomfortable. It was better to follow Kyle’s lead and let Amelia make the tea, which might help bridge the gap between them.
Soon, Amelia brewed two cups of tea and placed them in front of Kyle Kinston and Mabel Quinn.
An unfolded folding table was positioned in the center of the room, and the three of them sat around it, making the room seem smaller.
"Thank you for saving our daughter, and I’m sorry for any distress caused by the police inquiries earlier," Mabel Quinn began, aware that Amelia had been suspected of child abduction by the police.
"No, no," Amelia waved her hands repeatedly. "I... actually didn’t do much. I’m glad that she found her biological parents." Despite feeling a deep reluctance, she knew that the child would have a much brighter future with her biological parents than with her, especially concerning the stark difference in their future lives.
After hesitating for a moment, Amelia added, "I heard you took her to the Hospital this morning. How is she? Can the illness be cured?" Now that the child’s biological parents were found, the medical expenses weren’t even a concern anymore, making Amelia feel finding her biological parents was indeed a good thing. Otherwise, under her care, who knows how long it would take for the child to receive proper treatment.
Mabel Quinn observed Amelia’s genuine concern for her daughter, feeling even more grateful that her daughter had encountered such a caring person during her hardships. So, she explained the doctor’s diagnosis from the Hospital to Amelia, then asked, "Oh, was there once a night when she was convulsing all over and seemed to be in severe pain?"
