Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1363 - 1402: Buying Skewers
When he came to pick her up today, although he appeared as usual, she could still notice some signs of fatigue in his expression.
Even if he hadn’t said anything to her, she could check the financial news and see some reports about the Kinston family’s business, and naturally, she could infer some of his schedule.
If he weren’t truly exhausted, he probably wouldn’t have fallen asleep on her shoulder in such a setting.
The driver was driving the car forward, but inside the car, it was peaceful and serene. Mabel Quinn was hoping the journey could last a bit longer, so he could sleep a little more.
As if hearing her wish, the car indeed began to slow down and finally stopped.
Traffic jam!
Without the driver saying a word, Mabel could tell that there was a long line of cars, and judging by the situation, it would take a while to get through this section of the road.
"What’s up, are we stuck in traffic?" Kyle Kinston’s voice suddenly rang out as he lifted his head from her shoulder.
"Yes." Mabel replied, "You’re awake? Don’t you want to sleep a bit more?"
"It’s about enough, I feel much better now." Kyle said, "But I guess we’ll be a bit late getting back to the Quinn family estate."
"It’s not like there’s anything urgent, so if we’re stuck, we’re stuck." Mabel was saying, but noticed Kyle’s gaze was fixed on a certain spot outside the window.
Following his line of sight, she saw a mobile barbecue skewer stall by the roadside. Such stalls are illegal, but they are always around in the city. Over 10 or 20 years ago, there were many of these stalls, but now, they are quite rare to see.
The stall owner was a woman who looked to be in her 30s, but her face showed the hardships of life. Her clothes were all in grey tones, very simple, and beside her was an 8 or 9-year-old boy helping out.
This scene... Mabel couldn’t help but remember that Kyle once mentioned when he was young, he also used to sell skewers with his mother.
Could it be that he’s reminded of those days?
"Stop the car over there for a moment." Kyle suddenly said.
"What’s the matter?" Mabel asked.
"I’m feeling a bit hungry, want to go get some skewers." Kyle said.
It seems he indeed thought of selling skewers with his mother in his childhood, otherwise, with his usual eating habits, he wouldn’t go for these skewers even if he were really hungry.
"Then I’ll have a skewer too, I’m kind of hungry anyway." Mabel said.
Kyle didn’t say anything, just lowered his eyes slightly.
The driver pulled over to the side of the road, and Mabel and Kyle got out of the car. But when she held his hand, she found it was very cold.
This coldness wasn’t due to the weather but him.
She pressed her lips together but didn’t say anything, just held his hand tighter and then smiled, "Let’s go, it’s been a long time since I’ve had skewers. I kind of miss it. When I was a child, sometimes after school, I’d crave a snack, and when my foster father came to pick me up, he would buy me a skewer near the school gate."
"Is that so?" Kyle murmured. Her childhood was something he never had.
