Earth's Greatest Magus
Chapter 3052: Gene Upgrade
The next dose was injected.
The moment the Superior Gene Elixir entered his bloodstream, both Emery’s body and soul trembled violently. The golden energy spread through his veins like molten fire, but the reaction within his spiritual sea was even more pronounced.
The Star-Devouring Beast stirred again.
Emery immediately felt the danger.
He didn’t trust himself to continue focusing on the purification while keeping the beast under control, so he called his dark avatar.
A moment later, another Emery appeared in his inner domain and immediately sat down in meditation, his spiritual form anchoring itself around the Star-Devouring Beast. The avatar took over the suppression, carefully holding the beast’s restless will in place while Emery returned his attention to the purification process.
Only after he was certain the situation had stabilized did Emery open his eyes again.
"Again!"
The fifth dose entered his body.
The elixir slowly settled into his veins, its golden energy simmering through his bloodline as the purification continued. Emery remained perfectly still, allowing the transformation to run its course while Kayelin monitored every change through the surrounding diagnostic formations.
Then the familiar notification appeared.
[Royal Fey Gene Essence — 79%]
Emery’s eyes narrowed.
He could feel it.
The sensation was faint, but unmistakable. Something inside his bloodline had already begun pressing against the final barrier. He was only one step away from another breakthrough.
Before Emery could reach for another syringe, however, Kayelin stopped him.
"That’s enough."
Emery looked toward her.
"You called me here for this exact reason," Kayelin continued, her expression unusually serious. "We need to stop here."
She gestured toward the readings surrounding the examination chair.
"Every measurement is telling us the same thing. Your body and bloodline are already approaching their current limit. If we keep forcing the purification now, we won’t know whether the next reaction is another breakthrough or something much worse."
Kayelin paused, studying the data for another moment before her expression softened slightly.
"But you’re clearly standing at an important junction. I don’t want you to waste that progress either. Give me time to run some tests and study the changes".
Emery remained silent for several seconds.
The excitement of being so close to another breakthrough slowly settled beneath his more cautious judgment. He knew Kayelin was right.
"Alright."
He calmed the excitement still stirring within him and revealed the remaining thirty-nine doses of Superior Gene Elixir for Kayelin to study and experiment with.
The serum alone, however, wasn’t enough.
Kayelin needed another test subject to understand how the modified formula behaved in a different bloodline, preferably one close enough to Emery’s own genetic structure to produce useful comparisons.
Kayelin and Feyanorr both possessed Fey lineage, but neither carried the Wolf bloodline. Shinta was directly related to Emery, yet her mixed Serpent and Wolf heritage introduced too many additional variables, and she had not even reached the Grand Magus realm. Testing a serum of this level on her would provide unreliable data at best and potentially dangerous results at worst.
Chief Beowulf was another possibility. He had only recently broken through to the Grand Magus realm and carried a Wolf bloodline. However, his bloodline had already reached its Rank 6 Legendary limit, leaving little room for the kind of breakthrough Kayelin needed to observe.
That left only one truly suitable candidate.
Within minutes, a Waypoint activated inside the Gene Center.
A crimson-haired woman stepped through the spatial gateway, her battle armor still bearing the traces of the frontlines.
Morgana had been summoned directly from the battlefield.
Emery welcome the seemingly confuse Morgana and said.
"Time for an upgrade"
Before administering even a single dose, Kayelin prepared the laboratory with multiple layers of precaution. Diagnostic formations were activated around the examination chamber while several monitoring devices locked onto Morgana’s body, soul, and bloodline simultaneously.
Only after everything was ready did Kayelin finally administer the first dose.
The reaction was immediate.
Golden energy flooded through Morgana’s body, and her crimson hair lifted slightly in the energy current as her bloodline began undergoing rapid purification.
[Bloodline entering purifying state]
[Dawn Fey Gene Essence increasing]
[42%... 52%]
[Battle Power Increased exponentially]
[Soul Force Strengthened exponentially]
Kayelin’s eyes widened as the readings
Ten percent.
A single dose had increased Morgana’s Dawn Fey Gene Essence by a full ten percent.
Even Emery couldn’t hide his surprise.stabilized.
[Morgana]
[Bloodline Gene: Dawn Fey]
[Gene Classification: Mythical]
[Bloodline Limit: Rank 8]
[Current Rank: Rank 7 — Dawn Champion]
[Dawn Fey Gene Essence: 52%]
The result was even more extraordinary than his own initial response to the serum. It immediately demonstrated why the Superior Gene Elixir had become so highly sought after among the Halfblood races.
Kayelin, however, wasn’t celebrating.
One dose had barely been enough for her to complete the first meaningful set of observations. She quickly began comparing Morgana’s results against Emery’s previous data, cross-referencing the readings with the information she had collected from his earlier purification process.
After several hours of analysis, she finally looked toward Emery.
"Using these samples together with your previous data, I’m confident I can modify the formula to make the serum considerably more effective for your specific bloodline."
She hesitated before continuing.
"But testing the modification will require more resources, and there’s a chance we’ll have to sacrifice several doses before we get the result right. Are you sure you want to proceed?"
Emery didn’t hesitate.
He was preparing to create his true clone body, and the foundation of that body needed to be as close to perfect as possible.
"Yes.. Do it."
Kayelin nodded.
Creating a modified formula wouldn’t happen overnight. She would need time to analyze the differences between Emery and Morgana, identify exactly where the Superior Gene Elixir was interacting with their respective bloodlines, and then carefully adjust the formula without destroying its core properties.
For now, Emery could only wait.
Emery returned to his cultivation chamber while Morgana remained behind at the Gene Center, continuing to serve as Kayelin’s primary test subject.
With his body still adapting to the changes brought by the Superior Gene Elixir, Emery turned his attention toward the two scaled scriptures Ronan had given him. He placed them before him and began studying the profound insights contained within, allowing his mind to slowly unravel the principles behind the Serpent Supreme’s techniques.
Two weeks passed.
By then, Kayelin finally sent word that she had achieved the breakthrough she had been working toward.
