Chapter 1036: Chapter 1036: Izuna’s defiance

The moment Agar was about to tell Indra about his possible reward for aiding him in his darkest moment.

"NOOO!!!!!!" Izuna who had been oddly quiet throughout this whole venture suddenly screamed in terror, her eyes bloodshot and fingers quickly wrapping around Indra’s robes, like powerful talons, pulling him in close in a possessive, protective manner.

"I-Izuna." Indra wasn’t used to seeing her act like this. Izuna was always calm, confident and brave yet in this moment she had the appearance of a terror stricken young girl witnessing her husband being forcibly conscripted for war.

"No! Just no!" She continued to yell as she shook her head, refusing to accept any kind of comfort from her man. Right now she needed to protect him from a bunch of wolves, to save his innocent and kind heart from being corrupted and ultimately lost due to promises of riches.

"Lord Dark I mean no offence with my outburst, but I can’t stay silent. To stand against the Church of Light with his current strength, even alongside his brother and a small contingent of monsters in nothing more than suicide." Izuna bravely looked towards the holographic image of Dark, the sheer inner strength required for her to do so being far more than people like Frost, Indra and Agar could possibly imagine.

To the latter he was merely their old man, a friendly and sometimes annoying father but to her and people like her Dark was nothing shy of being the most hallowed and sacred being in existence. To dare even look in his eyes was paramount to a form of sacrilege but even so Izuna looked ahead and addressed him directly.

"Hmmm." Of course such behaviour caught the old man by surprise. His wizened eyes examined her from head to toe, the vast distance between them and the fact that it was merely a holographic representation did not matter, Izuna could feel him examining her soul. A feeling that made her involuntarily shiver, with but a single thought Dark could easily erase her existence...so far was the gap between the two of them.

Thankfully he had no such intentions, he was merely curious. The discomfort she felt disappeared as quickly as it came when Dark turned to look at Indra, realising the basis of her bravery stemmed from him.

’Her love for my son is so deep and so pure that she’s willing to endure my gaze and even meet it openly....how intriguing?’ Dark was well aware of his status in the eyes of Nova’s mortals and even more so in those of the guardians he’d assigned to protect his newly born children.

Such displays would have never happened in the past, not even by the most arrogant and foolish, such was his position in their hearts.

"Izuna I’m not that we...."

Indra tried to defend himself, arguing that with his mid-level B-rank strength he was more than capable of protecting his life, but Izuna wasn’t willing to listen, cutting his protest short with but a single coldly spoken word "Quiet." He was thus forced to swallow whatever words remained lodged in his throat, his body trembling slightly in response to the fierceness in her eyes.

"Hahaha looks like she’s got you wrapped round her fingers doesn’t she son." Seeing his son quiver under her gaze Dark couldn’t help but laugh, finding his son’s timid behaviour humorous.

"Is this what happens when you’re in a relationship?" Agar quietly muttered, finding it strange that the strong and mighty Indra was so easily silenced.

"It depends." Agar’s query was answered by Frost who instead of laughing at Indra’s plight felt as sense of kinship, knowing that Maya and perhaps even Daki would react in a similar manner if he was faced with extreme danger....and that Khione would likely even take it a step further.

"But from personal experience it’s definitely worth it." Even if his women were imposing, controlling and intimidating Frost didn’t regret entering a relationship with them for a single second.

"Oh....good to know." Agar didn’t understand the concept fully, but he made sure to take a mental note of his brother’s advice, who knows maybe some time down the line it’d be of use.

While Frost and Agar discussed the consequences of relationships Indra upon hearing his father’s words felt a sense of shame. His entire face turned ruby red, but no words of protest passed beyond his lips, a silent but noticeable acceptance of his position in the relationship.

Izuna really did have him wrapped around her fingers or rather wrapped around that ass of hers. He’d do anything for it, her thicc, bouncy cheeks consumed his every thought. If Izuna wanted something done or wanted him to succeed in an area all she had to do was promise him a ride and he’d plunge headfirst into any task and complete it perfectly.

But what Indra didn’t know yet was that her control was beginning to slip that more and more often she was the one seeking him out for a ride, thus slowly tipping the scales.

But that’s a topic for a later date.

"Izuna you don’t have to worry I’m not offended in the slightest by your conduct in fact I’m very happy that my son has someone who loves him to such a degree.....Indra you better do right by this woman as it takes no small amount of courage to oppose my decisions." Dark with a joyful smile on his lips stroked his chin and observed Izuna with appreciation, finding her to be a very suitable daughter in law.

Of course such words caused the young woman to madly blush, her earlier bluster and confidence deflating somewhat because of embarrassment which meant it was Indra’s time to shine.

"Don’t worry father I plan to do just that for all eternity." His proposal was bold, loud and filled with love and affection making the beauty standing next to him swoon. In that instant she wanted nothing more than to straddle him and devour every last morsel of his potent seed but in the end she managed to restrain her desires, postponing such an engagement.

Frost standing to the side nodded his head in an approving manner, his left hand gesturing with a thumbs up, a gesture that was mirrored back by Indra. The two brothers acknowledged each other’s tastes and capabilities.

’Damn even I have to acknowledge that that was pretty smooth.’ Dark silently commented, his respect for his sixth son growing substantially.

"That’s good to hear but I should tell you that Izuna’s worries do have merit and while the situation isn’t nearly as bad as she thinks the enemy you’ll be facing cannot be underestimated." Dark acknowledged Izuna’s fears knowing exactly from where they stemmed but today’s Church of Light and more specifically the groups currently attacking his children couldn’t be compared to those of yesteryear.

"....I know but I still want to try." Indra let his father’s stern warning wash over him before smiling, his expression slipping towards that of battle junkie mode. An enemy so powerful that even his father was warning him, that had Izuna screaming rejection, his battle lust demanded he fight especially upon knowing Frost had already agreed. If his younger brother was willing to brave the danger then so was he.

"Haaaa you two really are alike, but I’d be remised if I didn’t clarify a few things especially for young Izuna here." Dark saw the exact same expression on Frost earlier, reason had left the building but even if his warning fell on deaf ears he believed it only right to try.

"The Church of Light that you’ll be facing cannot be compared to the stories, the legends nor the nightmares as they are far, far weaker and far less numerous. Those attacking Agar and the others are likely from a small branch and most probably nothing but juniors, low level members, chaff basically." His words felt like an insulting sledgehammer to Agar, he was tossed around and pushed to the brink by mere chaff, not even proper members of the Church of Light.

"However that’s merely through the eyes of those with real power."

"To the two of you and your monsters you’ll still be fighting an uphill battle. Your foes may not eclipse you in rank, but their talents will be far greater than what you’re used to. Don’t compare them to common adventurers unless you’re keen on suffering a quick death. Their means and methods are varied and dangerous, even if you catch them by surprise you won’t have an easy fight, so don’t let down your guard." His last words were said in a booming voice, forcing Frost and Indra to listen despite their minds already wandering.

Dark’s gaze now rested on Izuna.

"Izuna I know where your fear stems from, but I promise you the enemy these two will be fighting against is within their means, difficult and dangerous yes but still winnable...I wouldn’t be allowing them to go if it wasn’t."

The true Church of Light or rather the Church of Light from the past was strong enough to eradicate mighty empires with a single legion, let alone assault three junior Dungeons.

"Haaaaa maybe I’m biased because of all the horror stories." Izuna deeply sighed as she realised most of her fears were unwarranted. The enemy didn’t even have a single A-rank, and their numbers were only a hundred or so, Frost and Indra could certainly handle such might.

"All of which are true I’m afraid and possibly still the case when it comes to the heart of the Church and their Holy White Empire, but thankfully it’s not the case here." Dark didn’t lie or sugar coat it, the Church of Light and their Holy White Empire were as strong if not stronger than the stories portrayed them to be.

"....."

"....." The two superpowers silently ruminated on the words shared before Agar innocently raised his hand and asked a question.

"Umm if it’s not too much trouble could you tell us some of the stories or rather some of the truths as most people in Nova clam up the instant it’s brought up and even the history books I’ve managed to acquire do little to explain, the topic being considered taboo and forbidden in most cases."
