Dungeon Corpse Stacker: I Absorb Everything to Become Ominous Monarch
Chapter 101: The Gilded Ultimatums of Geneva
The morning air sweeping across the hundredth floor terrace of the Sovereign Spire carried the clean, sharp sting of high-altitude frost.
Where the shattered glass windows of the former Association boardroom once framed a city choked by fear, four-inch sheets of reinforced crystal now held back the mountain winds. Down below, the broad avenues of Sector 0 moved with an eerie, clockwork precision. The panic that had gripped the population during the fall of President James had settled into a quiet, functional discipline. Unlicensed porters and scavengers who had spent years hiding in the damp maintenance culverts of Sector 4 walked openly along the paved boulevards, directing logistics convoys loaded with refined mana-ore toward the provincial rail lines.
Boss Victor stood beside the long obsidian conference table, his gold-rimmed reading glasses perched low on the bridge of his nose. He held a bound leather ledger in one calloused hand and an unlit cigar in the other, his thumb tracing down columns of handwritten figures.
"The provincial redistribution is holding," Victor said, his gravelly voice echoing in the vast, quiet hall. "Seventy thousand metric tons of refined mana-stones seized from the private vaults of the regional directors have reached the eastern reconstruction hubs. The garrison commanders who surrendered at the border have integrated their logistics units into the Sovereign Defense Network. Not a single supply train has been derailed."
Renan stood at the edge of the glass terrace, his hands resting loosely inside the pockets of his dark woolen coat.
His hair was trimmed neat, his posture completely relaxed, yet the ambient kinetic density radiating from his frame caused the polished marble beneath his boots to hum with a subtle, continuous vibration. Beneath his heavy eyelids, his pupils burned with a dark violet void that seemed to pull the morning sunlight into an endless center.
"And beyond the coastline?" Renan asked softly.
Victor turned the page of his ledger, his thick brow furrowing into deep, weathered lines. "The World Federation in Geneva finalized their emergency resolution at three o’clock this morning. They declared our peninsula an unregistered hazard zone. All commercial maritime traffic across the eastern trench has been suspended by international decree. Three foreign carrier strike groups have taken up holding patterns fifty nautical miles outside territorial waters."
Before Victor could read the naval telemetry reports, the low, concussive thrum of twin turbine engines vibrated the heavy glass panes of the terrace.
A sleek, matte-white supersonic tiltrotor aircraft bearing the golden laurel crest of the Geneva World Federation dropped out of the cloud cover. The aircraft did not broadcast transponder codes, nor did it request clearance from the coastal radar towers. It hovered twenty yards above the reinforced terrace before extending its hydraulic landing gear and settling onto the concrete pad with a heavy hiss of pneumatic brakes.
The pressurized cabin ramp dropped, venting a thick plume of white vapor.
Four Federation Enforcers clad in silver composite plate armor marched down the gangway in tight tactical formation, their high-voltage mana-carbines slung across their chests at low-ready. Between them walked a tall, slender man with aristocratic features, immaculate silver-streaked hair, and a tailored charcoal three-piece suit. In his leather-gloved right hand, he carried a sealed titanium diplomatic cylinder engraved with the seal of the International Hunter Council.
This was Envoy Alistair, the Chief Plenipotentiary dispatched by the Geneva Directorate.
Alistair stepped onto the dark marble floor of the grand hall without pausing to present credentials. He did not glance at Boss Victor, nor did he acknowledge the forty Shadow Knights standing motionless along the perimeter walls like silent monuments of midnight steel. His cold blue eyes remained locked entirely onto Renan’s back, filled with the practiced, detached condescension of an empire that had dictated continental treaties for half a century.
"Renan," Alistair spoke, his voice carrying the crisp, dry resonance of a magistrate addressing a common criminal. "Or whatever hollow title you have instructed these surviving wretches to call you."
Renan did not turn around immediately. He watched a solitary sea bird glide across the distant skyline before slowly pivoting on his heel.
"You brought four armed guards into a Sovereign Hall without an appointment, Envoy," Renan replied, his tone chillingly level.
Alistair let out a short, mocking exhale through his nose. He stepped forward, his leather shoes clicking sharply on the polished stone, and twisted the locking mechanism of the titanium cylinder. With a crisp metallic snap, an arcane wax seal broke, and a glowing holographic scroll unfurled between his hands, projecting three hundred articles of international martial law into the cold air.
"I represent the collective authority of the Geneva World Federation," Alistair declared, lifting his chin. "You slaughtered registered guild masters, dismantled a recognized sovereign government, and seized continental strategic resources through unlawful force. The international community does not recognize your Ominous Territory. We do not negotiate with rogue porters who stumble upon anomalous power in the dark."
The four silver-armored enforcers behind Alistair adjusted their stances, their weapons humming as their internal capacitors cycled toward high readiness.
Victor’s right hand drifted slowly toward the heavy revolver hidden beneath his trench coat, but a subtle, two-finger gesture from Renan kept the administrator rooted to the floor.
"State your demands, Alistair," Renan said, walking slowly toward the obsidian table. "Before I decide whether your aircraft leaves this terrace in one piece."
Alistair’s thin lips curled into a cold, contemptuous sneer. He tapped the floating holographic scroll, sending three primary directives drifting through the air toward Renan in burning crimson letters:
[WORLD HUNTER COUNCIL ULTIMATUM: DIRECTIVE ZERO]Article 1: Immediate and unconditional surrender of all seized Association vaults, gate deeds, and military installations.Article 2: Total dissolution and permanent banishment of all autonomous necrotic and shadow entities.Article 3: The rogue entity known as Renan must submit to an SSS-Rank spiritual restraint harness and appear before the Geneva War Tribunal within seventy-two hours.
"If you accept these terms," Alistair said, his voice smooth and devoid of doubt, "the Federation will grant you permanent confinement in the Tartarus Subterranean Facility beneath the North Sea. Your sister, Rhea, will be transferred to a monitored medical facility under Federation supervision. Refuse, and the International Joint Fleet will commence Operation Cleansing Dawn. Twelve World-Class Hunters will cross your waters, and five hundred thousand metric tons of enchanted ordnance will turn this entire peninsula into an uninhabitable salt flat."
A heavy, suffocating silence settled over the hundredth floor.
Victor drew in a sharp breath through his teeth, his jaw tightening so hard the muscles in his neck stood out like cords. The four foreign enforcers maintained their rigid firing postures, their fingers resting lightly on the triggers of their carbines, confident that the sheer weight of global authority would force the rogue entity to seek terms.
Renan looked at the glowing crimson text floating inches from his face.
He did not raise his voice. He did not summon an aura of black lightning. He simply reached out his bare right hand and let his index finger brush against the floating projection.
A single pulse of purified Sovereign mana flowed from his skin into the arcane light.
The complex spell matrices binding the holographic scroll collapsed instantly. The burning crimson letters inverted into a brief, brilliant burst of violet static, dissolving into the freezing mountain air like harmless ash.
Alistair’s expression froze, the haughty sneer faltering for a fraction of a second. "You have just signed your own execution warrant, boy."
"The World Federation," Renan whispered, stepping past the dissolving light, "believes that borders exist because someone drew lines on parchment."
Renan stopped less than two paces from the diplomat.
The temperature in the vast hall did not simply fall; the physical weight of the atmosphere inverted. The four silver-armored enforcers behind Alistair suddenly gasped for air, their knees buckling under an invisible kinetic drag that made their heavy composite armor groan against their joints. The air in their lungs turned impossibly thin, smelling of ozone, iron, and deep ocean trenches.
Alistair stumbled back half a step, his tailored suit suddenly drenched in cold, sudden sweat. The calm arrogance in his eyes cracked, replaced by a hollow, sickening realization that the young man standing before him was not an arrogant scavenger posturing for leverage.
He was a force that recognized no laws beyond his own will.
"Go back to Geneva, Alistair," Renan spoke softly, his words vibrating through the floorboards and rattling the teeth inside the envoy’s skull. "Tell your council that I do not answer to men who hide behind naval armadas."
Alistair clutched the broken titanium cylinder against his chest with trembling fingers. "The... the Twelve will hunt you down! Sir Arthur Pendelton and General Vance will reduce your shadow army to dust!"
"Then tell them not to make me wait," Renan said, raising his hand.
A razor-thin thread of liquid shadow flashed across the space between them.
The heavy titanium cylinder in Alistair’s grip split cleanly into two halves, the severed metal clattering against the marble floor without leaving so much as a scratch on the envoy’s leather gloves.
"Because the moment their warships cross my continental trench," Renan’s voice echoed out over the open terrace, flat and absolute as an iron tombstone, "I will not stop at sinking their fleet. I will cross the sea and harvest every seat in your council chamber."
Alistair stumbled backward down the terrace gangway, his boots slipping on the frost, his enforcers dragging him into the cabin of the tiltrotor in blind, disorganized terror. The aircraft’s engines screamed into emergency reverse thrust, clawing through the low clouds before fleeing westward at maximum velocity.
Renan turned away from the terrace, walking back toward the obsidian table where Shadow General Ignis rose silently from the floorboards, the massive executioner broadsword planted into the stone.
"Ignis," Renan commanded, his dark coat swaying as his violet pupils fixed on the distant eastern coastline.
"Command me, my Sovereign," the dark titan boomed from behind its horned visor.
"Mobilize the coastal defenses and awaken the submerged fleet," Renan whispered. "Geneva wants a war. We will give them an ocean of graves."
