Chapter 997: Chapter 989: Second Brother’s Past Life 3
That was her second brother, what had she done...
What had she done...
Maxim Ford hurriedly rubbed her back to calm her, his voice choked, "Dear sister, cry it out, you’ll feel a bit better."
What right did she have to cry?
She had personally harmed her second brother who loved her so much, what right did she have to gain everyone’s sympathy?
She looked up at her brothers, her eyes full of pleading, "Please, can you all leave?"
She wanted to stay with her second brother, to atone for the sins she committed.
Vincent Ford’s breathing tightened, "Tiana..."
Theo Ford looked at the brothers, "Let her be for a while."
At this moment, she couldn’t listen to anyone’s words.
If it were any one of them, they wouldn’t accept having stabbed their second brother while sleepwalking.
Sebastian Ford’s eyes were filled with unease; he was worried about leaving her alone.
Aiden Shaw spoke again, "Let’s all go rest for a bit."
Everyone took one last look at their sister kneeling and clutching her chest, and although their hearts ached immensely, they could only comply.
After stepping outside.
Isaac Ford’s expression was as cold as ice, his hands clenched into fists, as he asked the question everyone’s curious about: "Who told our little sister?"
Sebastian Ford replied, "Let’s investigate."
Maxim Ford sighed deeply, "Perhaps hiding it from her wasn’t a good thing."
Vincent Ford agreed with his older brother; otherwise, if anything really happened to their second brother, Tiana would feel guilty for life.
Now, allowing her to stay by his side, their second brother would hear her voice and might wake up sooner.
He pursed his lips and said, "Tiana has always been intelligent. She might have sensed something wrong, and perhaps someone instigated it."
Aiden Shaw took over, "Leave this matter to me."
The brothers didn’t leave immediately but stood at the door watching as she knelt motionless on the ground.
Maxim Ford, as the eldest brother, organized them, "Let’s all go back and prepare. The following days will likely be very exhausting. Rest a bit and take turns watching over her. I don’t trust just leaving it to the caregivers."
They all nodded.
They turned and walked to the other side of the corridor, except for Aiden Shaw, who didn’t move. His emotions were deep, and his mood heavy, hiding his sorrow with his inscrutable eyes.
Maxim Ford looked back at him, "Aren’t you coming with us?"
"I’ll wait outside."
"Alright."
Maxim led the brothers away, while Aiden Shaw leaned against the doorway, watching her small figure from behind.
Inside the room...
Tiana Thorne could sense he hadn’t left, but she didn’t have the heart to turn back and look.
Raising her head, she looked at her second brother on the bed, wishing she could stab herself too, to share the same pain.
She moved her lips and called him, "Second brother."
This one call stirred up many memories, including the misunderstanding before they acknowledged each other.
And the doting afterward.
"You said when I went to the Ford family, I’d cause a commotion and you’d be there with me, second brother... I’m sorry, truly sorry, I... I’m sorry."
On the bed, Julian Ford kept his eyes closed, his face pale, unlike before, when he would say to her, "Silly girl, it’s not your fault."
And so, she knelt for the entire day.
At night, Aunt Leaving came to deliver food, seeing Aiden Shaw still standing outside, while Tiana Thorne knelt inside and was about to topple over, she sighed, feeling extremely distressed.
"Young Master Shaw, come inside."
His eyes had a bit of redness, "Aunt Leaving."
"Hmm."
She opened the door and went in.
Aiden Shaw half-squatted next to her, "Hungry?"
Tiana Thorne turned to look at him, already exhausted, "Fourth brother, if the second brother never wakes up, what will I do?"
She no longer had the ability to ascend to demand her second brother’s soul, nor could she drink tea in the Grim Reaper’s palace asking him to help bring her second brother back to life.
To cultivate as a celestial fox would still take time, and she feared that by the time she returned to her position, her second brother would have reincarnated, never to be found again, forever missed.
Aiden Shaw took advantage of her dazed state to lift her up and put her on the sofa, his low voice warm, "Your second brother worries most about you, how could he leave so easily?"
"Really?"
"Yes."
Aunt Leaving took out the food, comforting her, "Have something to eat, young lady, so you’ll have the energy to wait for Young Master Ford to wake up."
Tiana Thorne looked at her second brother on the bed, tears welling up in her eyes, but she forced them back.
She nodded, "Yes, I want to wait for him to wake up."
Aiden Shaw’s tense heart finally relaxed a bit.
He worried that she would torment herself out of guilt.
She had always been rational, never harming herself to make others worry, instead always doing everything she could to make it up to her second brother.
This meal, Aunt Leaving had put her heart into preparing, but to Tiana Thorne, it tasted like wax.
She no longer had the right to make her brothers worry, and even though she had no appetite, she forced herself to finish it all.
Seeing this, Aunt Leaving felt much relieved.
She added, "I’ll watch over during the night, you and Young Master Shaw should go back."
Tiana Thorne, "I don’t want to leave him."
Seeing this, Aunt Leaving turned to Aiden Shaw, who said nothing but shook his head, indicating to let her be.
"Fourth brother, you and Aunt Leaving go back. I’ll call you when the second brother wakes up."
Aiden Shaw, having observed her all day and seen that she hadn’t done anything foolish, felt reassured and didn’t want to refuse her at this moment. He replied softly, "Alright."
After Aiden Shaw and Aunt Leaving left, only she and Julian Ford remained in the hospital room.
It wasn’t until late at night that she came down from the sofa.
Her legs were sore and painful, making it hard to bear.
But upon thinking how her brother suffered such a calamity because of her, this pain barely mattered.
She approached his bed, looking at his frail form.
Only at times like this did she dare to face the brother who cared for her like his own life.
Reaching out her small hand, she held his large hand, which felt a bit cold from the IV drip. She covered it with the blanket.
Under the covers, she carefully held his hand, conveying warmth to him, letting him feel her presence.
Even though she didn’t know if her second brother now hated her deeply.
But intuition told her she should do this, stay by his side.
"Second brother, when you wake up, you can scold or hit me..."
His breathing was steady, yet he remained in a coma.
She feared separation through death and feared her second brother would hate her from then on.
Late at night, a bit weary, she leaned her head on the bed, and just like that, fell asleep.
That night, she dreamed again.
In the dream, she was by the seaside, little waves lapping and bringing the scent of the sea to her nostrils.
She stood on the beach, looked up at the sun on the horizon, its brightness stinging her eyes, and raised a hand to shield them.
Suddenly, she heard her second brother’s voice.
"Tiana, over here."
Following the voice, she found nothing.
Feeling lost and scared, she shouted, "Second brother!"
