Doomsday Rebirth: The Doctor and the General's Survival Farm
Chapter 53: The End Is Near
For half a year, she had carried the terror of the apocalypse completely alone. She had hoarded supplies in secret, built walls in silence, and watched every shift in the world with the constant, gnawing fear that her future knowledge would suddenly become useless.
But now, the most powerful military general in the region was standing directly beside her. Not because he fully understood the mechanics of her rebirth, but because he trusted her enough to stand in the storm with her.
Raviah reached into her mind, accessing the vast expanse of her hidden spatial dimension. With a quiet flick of her wrist, she pulled out a long-range tactical communications array and set it silently onto the metallic control desk.
Rhyder glanced at the high-grade military hardware appearing out of thin air, but he didn’t waste time asking questions. He reached out, switching the device to a secure, direct frequency.
"From this moment onward, everything changes," he declared calmly.
He brought the military transmitter to his collar, activating an encrypted frequency that bypassed standard regional command units.
"General Drakeheir speaking."
A crackle of static filled the corridor before a tense voice responded.
"Command online, General. Go ahead."
"Send a priority encrypted channel directly to Eastern Defense Intelligence. Level One clearance."
"Yes, General. Transferring now."
"I want every abnormal biological, environmental, and electromagnetic incident reported directly to my desk," Rhyder ordered, his voice ringing with absolute command. "Do not filter the data through regional offices."
There was a brief, confused pause on the other end of the line.
"Every region, sir?"
"Every region," Rhyder repeated without hesitation.
He turned his dark gaze back to Raviah, acknowledging her unspoken warning.
"And classify all confirmed abnormal creatures as potential hostile biological threats until proven otherwise."
Raviah’s expression tightened as she listened to the order.
"Rhyder," she said softly, stepping closer to the terminal. "The creatures... they’re appearing far earlier than I remember."
Before he could answer her, the tactical communications device on the desk suddenly emitted a sharp, blaring warning tone.
[INCOMING PRIORITY TRANSMISSION]
Rhyder immediately tapped the screen, opening the live video feed.
A high-ranking military intelligence officer appeared on the holo-display. The man’s uniform was immaculate, but his face was completely drained of color.
"General, we have a rapidly developing situation across multiple sectors."
"Report," Rhyder commanded instantly.
"Multiple abnormal creature sightings have been confirmed within the last twenty minutes," the officer reported, his voice tight with restrained panic.
Raviah stepped right up to the display, her doctor’s eyes scanning the background data feeds.
"Where?" she demanded.
The officer glanced at her briefly before bringing up a rapidly expanding tactical map of the continent.
Bright red warning markers began flashing across the blue terrain map.
"Eastern agricultural sector," the officer read off rapidly. "Northern forest territory. Western industrial zone."
More red markers bloomed across the digital map like drops of blood.
"Two coastal regions are reporting massive marine anomalies."
Another cluster of red lights lit up the screen.
"And three additional inland provinces have just lost contact with local garrisons."
Rhyder’s expression became as cold as ice. "How many confirmed hostiles?"
The officer swallowed hard, his throat moving visibly. "Initial reports twenty minutes ago indicated six isolated incidents."
The digital map continued to fill with red icons, overlapping one another in dense clusters.
"We have now officially confirmed twenty-three separate breach points."
Raviah felt the blood run cold in her veins as she stared at the screen. The timeline had not merely shifted, it had shattered completely.
The intelligence officer leaned closer to his camera, his hands visibly shaking. "And General..."
"Speak, Officer."
"These aren’t isolated mutations quietly nesting in the wilderness." The officer’s voice dropped to a terrified whisper. "They’re moving toward human population centers."
The tactical map flashed red across its entire central grid. Dozens of red indicators began spreading outward from their original breach points, moving along highway networks and river basins with terrifying speed.
Rhyder stared at the screen, his mind rapidly calculating troop deployment routes, defense perimeters, and civilian evacuation zones. Raviah slowly tightened her grip around the hilt of her blade, feeling the faint hum of her newly awakened Root vibrating through her bones.
The past six months of relentless preparation, storage hoarding, and base construction had been leading to this exact moment. The future she carried in her memory was officially dead, replaced by an even more aggressive, unpredictable reality.
And this time, neither she nor the General knew where this new path would lead them.
Suddenly, the central laboratory terminal behind them began to chime frantically, its audio alarms echoing off the cold steel walls.
Red text flashed across every monitor in the corridor:
[MULTIPLE HOSTILE BIOLOGICAL SIGNATURES DETECTED]
[GLOBAL ABNORMAL ACTIVITY: ESCALATING]
The General turned his head, his dark eyes locking onto Raviah’s resolute face. "We’re out of time."
Raviah looked back at him, her chin held high as she drew her suppression blade into a combat stance. "I know."
The apocalypse was no longer approaching in the distant future.
It was here, and it was spreading across the world.
Raviah reached back into her spatial storage, pulling out two heavy tactical combat rifles and tossing one directly to Rhyder. He caught the weapon in mid-air with practiced ease, racking the slide with a clean, lethal sound.
"The containment vault down here comes first," Raviah said, pointing her blade toward the glowing red vines in the chamber ahead. "We clear this mutated plant, seal the lower bulkhead, and then we take control of the farm’s perimeter defense."
"I agree," Rhyder replied, falling into step right beside her as they approached the open vault door. "We clear the threat, secure your base, and then we rally my division."
Raviah allowed herself a tiny, fierce smile as she stepped through the threshold into the dark, pulsating room.
In her past life, she had died alone, betrayed by the people she trusted, waiting for a savior who arrived too late.
In this life, she stood as an armed doctor with a fortified fortress, an expanded spatial storage, and the most dangerous general in the world fighting at her side.
Together, they raised their weapons against the glowing crimson vines surging toward them.
The fight for the new world had officially begun.
