Doomsday Life Simulator System In A Zombie Apocalypse World Update Era

Chapter 455: Arriving In Perpetual Darkness’s Elf World

  • Next Chapter

After Zayne and Jade arrived at the Elf World, the two of them were greeted with the sight of nothing.

Well, if they were an average human, they would be greeted with nothing but darkness.

The Elf World was truly devoid of light. Or rather, pitch-black darkness enveloped the world in a deep shade of black.

If Terra was just midnight with the absence of moonlight, then the Elf World’s Perpetual Darkness was even worse. The Universal Law of Light was greatly suppressed here, causing any light source to be suppressed by Perpetual Darkness.

Of course, even if not for Zayne and Jade’s Initial Divine rank power, a normal human with the X-rank All Seeing Eyes could still see clearly here, let alone the XX-rank version.

Moreover, even if they didn’t possess their innate talents and power rank, both Zayne and Jade had already adapted to the darkness and could see very clearly. It was due to their Adaptive Evolution bloodline trait.

Looking around, the surrounding flora was even corrupted by Perpetual Darkness.

The used-to-be-vibrant forests and green grasses were tainted with black, as if someone splashed pitch-black ink on them. Anyone living in such an environment where everything was nothing but black would inevitably develop insanity.

After all, it was truly an environment that would cause someone to lose their sanity.

"Perhaps, this is the reason why Light Bearers are needed."

"From what we’ve discovered, each world has its own power system. Or at least, those worlds that have survived until now had either possessed a decent power system, or had just recently experienced the Perpetual Darkness like Terra."

"In this case, the Elf World has a powerful mage system, yet it’s also what caused their inevitable decline. The existence of an existing power system in each world is also a downside, as it caused them to be reliant on it and didn’t even allocate any resources to studying the Light Bearer Path."

Hearing his words, Jade nodded. Although she and Zayne hadn’t become Light Bearers yet, the two of them still possessed a hint-type talent.

With her XX-rank Hint Inquiry innate talent and Zayne’s Hint Prompt, it wasn’t difficult for the two of them to discover the purpose of the Light Bearer power system.

To completely cleanse the influence of Perpetual Darkness on the world, a sufficiently powerful Light Bearer was required. It could be said that the Light Bearer was created into existence just to counter the source of the Perpetual Darkness.

It was quite similar to how the existence of the Train Conductors in the train survival universe was created by the Universe Will just to select someone suitable to carry out its plan in evacuating the last spark of the universe.

In this case, the Elf World neglected the Light Bearer Path and focused on their mage power system instead. Their decision wasn’t inherently wrong.

After all, it was what allowed the Elf World to potentially last for a decade. However, the Hint Prompt had already predicted their inevitable doom, which meant that their decision only prolonged their struggle and suffering.

However, becoming a Light Bearer wasn’t easy, as it required one to possess an affinity for the light attribute. The only exceptions were Terrans who were compatible with the power system related to the Monthly Apocalypse World Update Theme.

In other words, even if some Terrans managed to go to another world and have access to the power system unique to that world, it was a different matter for them to acquire that power system.

Perhaps those Terrans with innate talents related to that power system, such as someone with the A-rank Martial Artist innate talent, could learn the power system of the Human Martial Arts World.

But for Terrans with innate talents that weren’t related to that world’s power system, it would be a miracle for them to acquire that power system.

Despite this, the Terran Survivors have the advantage of being compatible with the power system related to the Monthly Apocalypse World Update Theme. In other words, even the elves and humans in other worlds found it difficult to be a Light Bearer, yet it would be easy for Terrans to become one.

Zayne discovered that information after using his Hint Prompt. It turned out to be the main reason why the elf race didn’t invest many resources in training their kin to become a Light Bearer, as those who could become Light Bearers were better off learning light attribute magic.

From what he discovered, the Elf Race had focused on mastering magic spells that were either of the light attribute or the fire attribute. After all, both those attributes would deal more damage to the dark monsters and even cleanse the erosion of the Perpetual Darkness.

As for those elves who didn’t have any talent for fire magic and light magic, they could only act as a support for those who could. Some of them existed to provide mana to those fire mages and light mages, acting as a mana battery.

It was quite brutal, but it was the most efficient tactic formulated by the elves after struggling in the Perpetual Darkness World.

’It seems at some point, even the elves themselves discovered their potential as a mana battery. In other words I’ve visited, dragons are killed and harvested for the valuable materials in their bodies, while elves are used in either alchemy or magic research as a mana battery.’

’A thoroughly modified elf can serve as a mana battery that can store a lot of mana. Their mana pool can artificially be expanded to a few minor stages above their power rank, and some greatly talented one could even have their mana pool be expanded to a whole major rank.’

’Magnus and Cecilia both excelled in scientific research, while Jade and I have excelled in magic research. Although the two of us haven’t used magic much except for our bloodline magic, the two of us have already achieved a lot in the magic path.’

’But from the looks of it, although those elves had acted as a mana battery, they haven’t ruthlessly modified into a mana battery by their kin. They merely acted as a mana battery, and haven’t truly became one.’
