Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 190 - 189: Opponent and Heart Demon
"Resting. Do not disturb." Xiong Xianhui glanced at the sign on the door and then read it out, word for word.
Next to him, Feng Qiwu was also looking at the sign. After a moment of silence, he said, "This isn’t the Female Master’s handwriting, is it?"
"Definitely not!"
It wasn’t as if they hadn’t seen Chu Liangyu’s handwriting before; how could they not recognize it?
"So, should we go in?"
Feng Qiwu wanted to go in, but he was also worried. If they disturbed Chu Liangyu’s rest, they would inevitably get an earful.
But if he didn’t go in and see her, he felt a nagging itch in his heart.
"Never mind who wrote it. We’ll just be quiet. As long as we don’t wake her, it’ll be fine."
"She had so many injuries today. If we don’t check on her, I just can’t feel at ease."
Xiong Xianhui could be careless at times, but when it was time to be serious, he didn’t fall short.
"Alright, let’s go in and take a look then."
The two tiptoed into the inner room. As they passed the stone table, their footsteps halted in unison.
"Who sent this?"
A flicker of doubt crossed both their eyes, but it was only for a moment. Unable to figure it out, they didn’t pay it much mind.
After entering the inner room, they saw that Chu Liangyu was already asleep, resting just as the sign had said.
"She should be fine. It looks like she’s just tired."
Xiong Xianhui sized up the situation, and after confirming that nothing serious was wrong, a great weight was lifted from his heart.
Feng Qiwu, however, shook his head and said, "No, look at the Female Master. She seems to be having a nightmare, and she’s very restless."
That was right. Chu Liangyu was indeed having a nightmare, but this was no ordinary one. It was a trial woven by the Heavenly Dao itself—her Heart Demon.
Chu Liangyu had guessed the trial would come soon, but she hadn’t expected it to arrive that very night.
While the two men debated whether to wake her, Chu Liangyu’s situation in the dream grew more and more difficult.
____
"Beast Father, does Beast Mother really have to remain in a coma like this?" Chu Yue’s gaze on the person on the bed was complicated, and his tone held clear disapproval. "What’s the point of this? You might as well just kill her."
A quick death was better than being unable to do anything, just lying in a bed.
For the first time, an angry expression appeared on Jiang Li’s face. "She is your Beast Mother. You actually want me to kill her?"
"I don’t want you to kill her, I want you to let her go." Chu Yue showed no fear of his imposing presence, instead stepping closer to the bed. "Beast Mother would rather break with the Childbirth System than continue on like that. Doesn’t that tell you enough about her temperament?"
"Why do you insist on torturing her like this? What is it all for?"
Jiang Li’s turbulent emotions suddenly calmed. He said, "You and Li’er need a Beast Mother. That’s all."
But Chu Yue saw through his expression, understanding what was truly in his heart. "No, that’s only part of it."
"You’re afraid that after Beast Mother wakes up, she’ll oppose you, and then you won’t be able to inherit the position of Beast God."
"On top of that, you have feelings for Beast Mother. You can’t bear to part with her."
It had to be said, the one who understood Jiang Li best was his own cub. What Chu Yue said was almost exactly what he was thinking.
Jiang Li’s expression turned ugly for a moment, but he didn’t say anything to refute it.
"Alright, you can go. Don’t worry about this matter. I have my own plans."
Chu Yue gave him a quiet look, then turned and left the room.
Chu Liangyu had been there for a while and had heard their entire conversation.
In fact, she quite agreed with what Chu Yue had said. A quick end would be better. There was really no point in being tortured like this.
But that was only what she and Chu Yue thought. When it came to this matter, Jiang Li was exceptionally stubborn, preferring to have her as a living corpse rather than letting her truly die.
As for Chu Yue saying Jiang Li had feelings for her, Chu Liangyu scoffed at the idea.
’Is that what you call love?’
’Love, my ass. He wants to be the Beast God and have the beauty too. Jiang Li is just shameless and greedy.’
Unless Jiang Li started pole dancing, Chu Liangyu wouldn’t believe a single punctuation mark of what he said.
Regardless, in her current situation, her calls to heaven and earth went unanswered. It was truly suffocating.
Especially since her Beast Husbands had been dealt with by Jiang Li one by one, there was now nothing left that could threaten him.
And the final matter was to subdue the Xihe Tribe.
Chu Liangyu wanted to escape reality and not follow Jiang Li, but at this moment, her soul was completely out of her control, automatically trailing behind him.
Chu Liangyu couldn’t stand the sight of Jiang Li’s face right now. The moment she saw it, she couldn’t resist the urge to slap it!
In her soul state, she had no real power, but she still couldn’t help but slap Jiang Li’s face a hundred times.
"Aren’t you tired?"
Suddenly, Jiang Li spoke. At the same time, his gaze shifted to where Chu Liangyu’s soul was, as if he were just asking with concern.
"You can see me?"
"Yes."
These past few days of wandering, she had appeared by Jiang Li’s side many times, but he had never so much as glanced at her, let alone spoken a single word.
Because of this, Chu Liangyu had forgotten that this guy’s power was on par with hers. Seeing a soul was perfectly normal for him.
Though she said they were on par, Chu Liangyu knew in her heart that, ultimately, she was no match for Jiang Li.
Otherwise, how could she have ended up in such a state?
Jiang Li was too smart; his intellect and cunning were far superior to hers.
Whenever Chu Liangyu faced him, she was always filled with a deep sense of powerlessness.
’If she had a Heart Demon, that Heart Demon... might just be Jiang Li.’
A vacant look filled Chu Liangyu’s eyes. In a daze, she felt a sense of unreality, as if someone was calling her name, the sound faint and illusory.
"What are you thinking about?"
The moment Jiang Li asked the question, that ethereal voice vanished completely, as if it had just been a figment of Chu Liangyu’s imagination.
Chu Liangyu turned her head, stared at Jiang Li’s face for a moment, and suddenly asked, "Chi Yizhong, how many talismans did I give you?"
"I’m not him. You’ve got the wrong person." Jiang Li’s face darkened. He subconsciously assumed she was trying to awaken Chi Yizhong, and a sense of displeasure stirred within him.
"He’s just one of my avatars. Do you like him that much?"
Chu Liangyu frowned and asked again, "How many did I give you?"
Seeing that she didn’t answer his question, Jiang Li’s expression grew even darker, but he still replied, "Eight."
Chu Liangyu’s eyes narrowed slightly as she suddenly sensed that something was wrong.
Every time before she handed the talismans to Chi Yizhong, Chu Liangyu would use one herself. So the number of talismans that ended up in his hands was indeed eight.
Everything he said was correct. But it was *too* correct, which Chu Liangyu found strange.
Jiang Li was the one controlling the body now, so how could he know all this?
The talismans were supposed to have temporarily severed the connection between them. Jiang Li shouldn’t have been able to know.
As for whether the talismans were ineffective, Chu Liangyu had never considered it.
After all, they were from the Cultivation World, and from the Son of Providence at that. They couldn’t possibly be fake.
