Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 138 - 137: With Big Sister Protecting Me, I’m Not Afraid
In just the blink of an eye, that homely face had vanished, and even his figure had changed somewhat.
Perhaps it was related to his race, but three flower petals were imprinted on the space between Hua Youyue’s eyebrows. His pair of almond-shaped eyes glistened, looking very lively and intelligent.
His skin was as fair as porcelain, even a shade more delicate than Chu Liangyu’s. His baby face was full of youthful innocence, much like a male Beastman who had just come of age.
His long, satin-like hair, raven-black and glossy, fluttered in the gentle breeze. At a glance, it was difficult to tell if he was male or female.
His lips were moist and lustrous, an exceptionally delicate pink. When he smiled, the teeth he revealed were dazzlingly white.
"Sister, see? I’m not ugly at all. Won’t you consider me?"
Chu Liangyu fell silent. ’He’s just a kid. How can he be so bold?’
"How old are you?"
"I’m twenty, sister."
Chu Liangyu smiled, his good looks earning him a bit more of her patience. "Calling me sister isn’t wrong, I suppose."
"It’s just that I already have over a dozen Beast Husbands. If you join us, you’ll be bullied until you cry, you know? Just like today."
But Hua Youyue shook his head and, mustering his courage, said, "As long as you protect me, sister, I won’t be afraid."
"Female Master, he’s a master of changing his form and appearance! This must be fake, don’t believe him!"
Jinling couldn’t help but let out a low growl, wanting to smash the man to pieces right then and there.
This guy had some serious nerve, daring to seduce his Female Master right in front of him.
Chu Liangyu ignored him and simply said, "They all rely on their own strength. I don’t protect anyone."
After Chu Liangyu spoke, a look of disappointment clearly flashed across Hua Youyue’s face.
"However, I can have Jinling let you off the hook. I just have a question for you."
"Ask away, sister! I swear everything I say will be the truth!"
Chu Liangyu nodded. Recalling the pattern she saw before she fainted that day, she asked, "The pattern on your sleeve is what made me lose consciousness, isn’t it? Where did it come from?"
"Oh, this? Our tribe’s High Priest drew it for me. He said that with this, the mission was guaranteed to succeed."
Hua Youyue raised his hand, revealing the marking. At first glance, it looked like a decorative pattern, but upon closer inspection, one could see it was a complex rune, imbued with a mysterious power.
This was somewhat similar to Ye Han, who also liked to carve such things. But Ye Han’s creations were all his own contraptions, still different from this rune, which seemed to follow some kind of established law.
"Has he ever used a rune like this before?"
"No." Hua Youyue thought for a moment before adding, "The High Priest said the Beast God taught it to him in a dream. That’s how he suddenly came to know these things."
’That old man doesn’t even know this stuff himself, so how could he impart it to someone in a dream?’
’Besides, there are countless tribes in the Beast World and so many High Priests. Why would he single out this one person to teach these things to?’
It was obvious there was something wrong with that High Priest. Perhaps he was one of the Otherworldly Souls that had been sent here.
For someone to possess such methods, the first thing that came to Chu Liangyu’s mind was the Cultivation World.
But Yu had also said that even if they were slaughtered, it wouldn’t affect them.
What was real, what was fake... Chu Liangyu was starting to get confused.
She hadn’t received any news from the old man yet, so she would need to imprison these people possessed by Otherworldly Souls.
Since these things didn’t affect Yu and the other, why not take these souls to the Sumeru Realm, find their Guardians, and have them exchange Origin Pearls for these souls?
Wouldn’t that be far more valuable than just killing them directly? And it wouldn’t drag innocent Little Worlds into the mess.
The more she thought about it, the brighter Chu Liangyu’s eyes became. "I’m very curious, why did you decide to kidnap me?"
Hua Youyue glanced at her uneasily, then stammered out an explanation, "The great snow came too suddenly... Our... our tribe didn’t have much food stored up. If this continues, everyone in the tribe will starve to death."
"Then we heard that a newly emerged tribe had plenty of food, but we couldn’t win a fight against you. That’s when the High Priest came up with a plan for me to kidnap you and then trade you for food with your tribespeople."
Chu Liangyu raised an eyebrow, finding it a bit strange. "Why send you? Why didn’t your High Priest come himself?"
"The High Priest just recovered from a serious illness, so his shapeshifting ability is still unstable. My talent is the best in the tribe, so he sent me."
Under normal circumstances, it’s very difficult for a soul to seize another person’s body. But if someone was seriously ill during that time, it was possible for a spirit to take advantage of the weakness.
"How about this: as long as you join our Xihe Tribe, I’ll provide you with food." After a pause, Chu Liangyu added, "The condition is that your High Priest must work for me and follow my arrangements. What do you say?"
Keeping the person from the Otherworld under her watchful eye was one thing; the main reason was that Chu Liangyu had taken a liking to their ability to change their appearance and form.
This would make her upcoming plans much easier and greatly increase the chances of success.
"I can’t make that decision on my own. Sister, could you wait for me to go back and discuss it with them?"
You could tell he wanted to agree immediately, but just as he said, his word alone didn’t carry much weight.
"Fine."
In this season, who would easily give up an opportunity to obtain food?
Even if they ultimately didn’t agree, Chu Liangyu wouldn’t force them. She could still carry out her plans without them.
She already knew the location of that Otherworldly Soul. If worst came to worst, she could just have someone knock him out and forcibly bring him back to the tribe.
The innocent young man had no idea what she was thinking. As he left, he radiated joy, seemingly eager to share the news with the elders of his tribe.
After all, their High Priest always prioritized the tribe’s survival. For such a small request, he would surely agree without hesitation.
"Female Master, there isn’t something wrong with that High Priest, is there?"
Jinling’s intuition told him that Chu Liangyu’s attention was focused on the High Priest, perhaps because of that strange rune, or for some other reason he didn’t know about.
Chu Liangyu was a little surprised by how quickly he’d caught on, and praised him with a smile, "Not bad. You’re getting smarter."
"My intuition tells me that doesn’t really sound like a compliment."
"Then maybe your intuition isn’t very accurate."
Jinling’s lips opened and closed, wanting to explain something, but he forced himself to swallow his words.
His intuition was his strongest trait after his upgrade, so how could it be as inaccurate as she claimed? But he wasn’t an idiot. If he made a big deal over a single sentence, his Female Master would be unhappy, regardless of whether he was right or wrong.
