Chapter 134 - 133: Someone Is Bullying an Old Man

"If eating other things makes you sick, then how are you supposed to change?"

Worry filled Qu Jing’s face. He was tempted to persuade him to give up.

Honestly, his good brother’s experience was just too damn tragic. He could barely stand it.

"I can’t stay here forever. Besides, I don’t want to be haunted by my past anymore."

"What’s more... it’s time to let go."

His gaze drifted into the distance, his eyes filled with a complex emotion that made it impossible to guess his thoughts.

At the border of the thunderclouds, Chu Liangyu hovered in the air. Facing the Thunder that cascaded toward her like a waterfall, her expression was calm and fearless.

Just as the Thunder was a finger’s breadth from striking her, a smile suddenly touched her lips.

The next moment, a purple bead appeared in her palm. Because of this, the ferocious Thunder that had been so menacing just moments before froze in mid-air, as if time had stopped.

Chu Liangyu reached out and poked it, discovering the energy had lost its punishing power. All that remained was a sense of utter grievance.

"This is in my hands now. Do you want it back?"

The response was a CRACKLE of thunder, revealing its desperation to get the item back.

The Origin of Thunder was the core power source for all Thunder. Without it, all Thunder would lose its energy supply. Over time, the world’s Thunder Rain Barrier would disappear completely.

Void Island would be exposed to the world, and restoring its state of peaceful isolation would become nearly impossible.

If it weren’t for Old Man Chu’s sake, Chu Liangyu really would have found a way to take this thing with her.

Of course, it would have been incredibly troublesome.

"I can give it to you, but you’ll have to give me something in return. Also, my trident is cracked. You have to help me repair it."

The Thunder began to circle her. Chu Liangyu understood this as a sign of agreement.

She summoned her trident, and a portion of the Thunder enveloped it. Purple energy flowed into the weapon, and the crack began to shrink before her very eyes.

The repairs would take time, so Chu Liangyu gave it a brief glance before turning her attention to the heart of the Thunder.

"So, what are you going to trade for it?"

The moment Chu Liangyu asked, a small, light-purple figure emerged from the swirling thunderclouds.

"This is... a Thunder Spirit."

Chu Liangyu’s eyes lit up. While not as good as the Origin of Thunder, it was like getting a pet that could grow stronger over time. Not bad at all.

’I never knew a Thunder Spirit had been born here,’ she thought. ’Feels like I missed out on a fortune.’

"In that case, this is acceptable."

Suppressing her joy, Chu Liangyu held out her hand and let the Thunder Spirit land in her palm.

She squeezed a drop of blood from her fingertip and fed it to the Thunder Spirit. A red light flashed on the small figure’s brow, sealing the contract.

Whether it was because of the blood drop or not, the featureless little figure gradually developed a face until it looked exactly like Chu Liangyu.

The two stared at each other as if looking in a mirror. At times, their movements were surprisingly synchronized, showing a natural rapport.

By this time, the trident was nearly repaired. It flew to Chu Liangyu’s side and floated quietly in the air.

"I keep my promises. Here, take it back."

She tossed the bead toward the heart of the Thunder. Instantly, layer upon layer of lightning wrapped around it, concealing it completely.

"One more thing. The person who took your property before didn’t mean to. When he decides to leave, don’t strike him dead. Got it?"

RUMBLE RUMBLE...

’This thing is so irritable and holds such a grudge,’ Chu Liangyu thought. ’If I hadn’t said anything, I was worried it would actually do it.’

But since it had agreed, it probably wouldn’t go back on its word. That was one of its few virtues.

"Alright, we’re done here."

She absorbed the Thunder Spirit into her body. The Thunder no longer obstructed her, and she quickly passed out of the thunderclouds.

She had been to the Sumeru Realm once when she was very young, and Old Man Chu had later taught her how to get there.

Chu Liangyu searched her memory and quickly recalled the method.

She mobilized all the energy in her body, concentrating it in her hands before thrusting them forward and grabbing at a point in the empty air.

When she felt a sensation like grasping a puff of warm air, she knew she had succeeded.

She clenched her fists, and the sound of tearing space ripped through the air. A moment later, a dark, shadowy tunnel appeared before her.

It was remarkably similar to the spatial tunnel Tu Bai had created for her, only this one was far more stable. She wouldn’t have to worry about it collapsing as she walked through.

The tunnel was dotted with specks of light, so it didn’t feel overly dark.

As Chu Liangyu drew nearer to the Sumeru Space, the starlight grew denser, making her feel as if she were immersed in a brilliant, star-filled cosmos.

Arriving here once again, Chu Liangyu found herself captivated by the scenery, lost in its beauty for a long moment.

As she moved, a Little World would occasionally drift past her side, so close it felt as if Liangyu could stop it simply by reaching out her hand.

The scenery here was breathtakingly beautiful, like a miniature universe. The sense of wonder it inspired was difficult to put into words.

But she had no time to admire it. She had been looking for someone since the moment she arrived, yet her surroundings were unnervingly quiet, as if she were the only person here.

Frowning, Chu Liangyu called out tentatively, "Chu Heguang? Old Man Chu, are you here?"

The Beast God’s name was Chu Heguang, and his true form was a Qilin—a fact unknown to the Beastmen.

Chu Liangyu’s voice was met with absolute silence, like a stone dropped into the ocean.

With no other choice, she continued deeper. Gradually, she noticed people gathering, all heading in the same direction.

"Oh, everyone, come and look! These two young whippersnappers are bullying a poor old man! Is there no justice in this world?"

"So many souls were dumped in my domain, it’s turning into a chaotic stew! They won’t even offer any compensation, and then they have the gall to say I’m making a scene! What kind of Guardians are you? Truly, each generation is worse than the last."

"I suppose I’m just old. I deserve to be bullied by you lot."

The abilities of any Guardian who entered the Sumeru Space were temporarily sealed to prevent them from damaging the realm.

As a result, they appeared to be ordinary people, yet they still exuded an air of authority that commanded respect.

Such a shameless, theatrical display was a rare sight here, which explained why it had attracted such a large crowd of onlookers.

Chu Liangyu peered through a gap in the crowd. The first thing she saw was the old man’s full head of white hair and a pair of fashionable reading glasses.

Almost instantly, dark lines of exasperation appeared on Chu Liangyu’s forehead.

What a coincidence. She’d come looking for a spectacle and ended up finding the person she was searching for. It was just that, given the current situation, this was clearly not a good time for a reunion.
