Chapter 59: The Look On Your Face
Chapter 59: Chapter 59: The Look On Your Face
"What are you doing here?" a voice called from the hallway.
Xavier recognized it at once—Rank 5 of the freshmen, David from Silverkeep.
"I’m here to meet a friend," Xavier said.
David closed the distance and held out his hand. Outside of their rivalry in Orbies, David seemed a friendly enough guy. Xavier shook it.
"Are you heading out?" Xavier asked. David looked like he was on his way somewhere.
"Yeah. Training grounds. My time slot’s almost up." David paused. "I have to say, I didn’t expect you to skip the swordsmanship."
"I’m not , I’m taking Advanced swordsmanship under Professor Alhound."
David’s eyes widened. "Man, you’re a different breed." The compliment came with a genuine smile. Even though most freshmen were stuck in the basics, Xavier was already two steps ahead—and David didn’t seem to mind. He said his goodbyes and left, leaving Xavier and Elena with a friendly impression.
"I thought you two would be more at odds," Elena said.
"I thought so too," Xavier answered as they continued through the smooth, gleaming corridors and stairs of Silverkeep.
They stopped in front of Arabelle’s door.
"Go ahead, knock," Xavier said.
"You knock. She’s your girlfriend," Elena replied.
Before either of them could move, the door swung open.
A huge pair of soft, plump breasts bounced straight into Xavier’s face as Arabelle sprang out and wrapped him in a playful embrace.
Her heavy breasts kept jiggling against his face while she hugged him tightly—warm, yielding flesh pressing close with every breath.
"I can’t believe it! I was just thinking about you and now you’re here. I thought my mind was playing tricks when I caught your scent, but it’s actually you. Did you miss me?"
Xavier’s hands slid down her back and squeezed her ass, trying to regain some control.
Arabelle immediately sealed his lips in a deep kiss—right there in the hallway in front of her open door.
Elena simply stood and watched. She noticed how happy and joyful Arabelle looked the moment Xavier appeared in front of her. The realization settled quietly, she didn’t mind if Arabelle felt the same way she herself felt whenever Xavier sought her out. She wouldn’t even mind if more women felt that way about him.
"Who’s this?" Arabelle finally asked, noticing Elena.
Xavier knew it was time for the talk.
"This is Elena—freshman rank 1, and also my lover."
Arabelle’s eyebrow rose in clear confusion. The confusion quickly shifted to surprise as Xavier explained everything.
"So this junior is also my sister," Xavier hadn’t known how she would react, but he didn’t expect her to accept it so easily—or to call Elena "sister" right away.
"But is this sister my junior sister or my senior sister?" Arabelle asked.
Both women turned and stared at Xavier, waiting for an answer. The question mattered. It would decide who held more authority and who would be considered the first wife—it would set the hierarchy among his women.
Xavier thought for a second, then answered, "Neither senior nor junior. You’re both sisters. Equally."
Both of their lips curved into satisfied smiles.
"That’s so like him," Arabelle said, glancing at Elena.
"I know, right?" Elena replied.
"Now shall we discuss the matter at hand?" Xavier said. The three of them stepped into Arabelle’s room.
Elena briefly explained the treasure hunt and where they currently stood, then asked if Arabelle knew of anything unusual in Silverkeep.
"Well, there’s more than I can count, but a few places really stand out. Let me take you." Arabelle led them to the gathering room.
"In the entire dorm, this is the only room built like a normal room. No shiny surfaces, no reflective floors or walls—not even a single mirror."
It looked like any other dorm’s gathering room, sofas, tables, board games, and other entertainment. Xavier took out the diary, channeled a little mana while picturing everything in the room, and opened it.
"I don’t think it means anything," Elena said after looking over his shoulder. The page only showed random information about the founder, the first emperor—nothing connected to Silverkeep or the missing pendant piece.
"Is there anything else?" Xavier asked.
"Oh, you’ll want to see this." Arabelle led them to a plain, simple door tucked into one corner of the room. It was so ordinary they had almost missed it.
Elena couldn’t hide her surprise when they stepped through.
The entire room—floor, walls, and ceiling—was nothing but mirror. There was no furniture, only their own reflections repeating endlessly into the distance.
"What is this place?" Elena asked.
"A room where students come from time to time... for self-reflection," Arabelle said, clearly joking.
Because every surface was mirrored, the reflections multiplied into millions before fading away.
Just how many pairs of tits would there be if I fucked Elena and Arabelle right here, right now? The thought crossed Xavier’s mind the instant he looked around.
Elena snatched the diary out of his hands.
"What was that for?" he asked.
"I don’t like the look on your face."
She fed a trickle of mana into the diary and opened it.
"Take a look at this."
To tell apart, from real or not, is a simple task, a mirror’s job.
To reveal the secret, and search for truth, open the door without a knob.
"Okay... I’m lost." This was by far the most ridiculous riddle Xavier had seen in the diary. He couldn’t make sense of a single line.
"I’ve noticed something about this diary," Elena said. "The riddles never tell us exactly what to do. They always hint at the mechanism of how things work."
Arabelle caught on quickly.
"So does that mean it’s not telling us to open a door without using its knob... but to open a door that doesn’t have a knob?"
Elena handed the book back to Xavier and walked toward the door. With every step, millions of her reflections walked beside her, below her, and above her. Looking sideways would have been dizzying, but Elena kept her eyes fixed only on the door ahead. She gripped the knob and turned it the opposite way. It yielded under the pressure and began to unscrew.
The moment the knob fully detached, the door became indistinguishable from the reflections around it. Then the door itself sank into the mirror, becoming nothing more than another reflection.
Elena stared in disbelief until Xavier’s voice called out.
"Elena—look at this."
She turned. The door that had just vanished into the mirror was now protruding from the opposite wall—physical again, and missing its knob.
"The door without a knob," she murmured under her breath.
