Doctor Reborn as a Peasant Girl? Time to Get Rich
Chapter 112: New Book Guide (Free)_5
The lanky youth was about to say he didn’t know when he caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye. Inside the half-open window, it looked like there was a person—no—it was more like a ghost.
The strength drained from his legs, and he subconsciously grabbed the person next to him for support. When he opened his mouth, his teeth chattered. "U-Uncle Fu, the win-win-window—" He couldn’t get the words out and quickly squeezed his eyes shut. He wanted to run, but his legs wouldn’t obey him. He was scared out of his wits.
Chapter 6
The middle-aged man, Uncle Fu, cursed the youth for being useless as he turned to look in the direction he was pointing.
One look was all it took to scare the soul out of him. He whirled around and fled.
When the youth saw Uncle Fu run, he scrambled to follow, but he couldn’t move quickly. Panic seized him. Before he could even make it out of the small courtyard, a warm stream flowed down his leg...
Sister in law Gu had no idea what they had seen to be so terrified. After the youth ran off, she turned to look. Inside and outside the window, there was nothing.
"Miss, you’re awake!" Sister in law Gu exclaimed as she entered with a basin of hot water, seeing her young lady sitting on the edge of the bed and putting up her hair.
"Yes. It feels like I’ve been asleep for a long time," she replied softly. The fierce glint in her eyes from before had vanished completely upon seeing Sister in law Gu.
Over the course of lunch, Feng Ge managed to coax a great deal of information out of Sister in law Gu.
As it turned out, she was not from this village, but was in fact the Eldest Miss of the Feng family, from the far-off Capital City.
Sister in law Gu had been Feng Ke’s birth mother’s dowry maid. To fulfill her mistress’s dying wish, she had given up her own home and prospects to accompany Feng Ke to this small mountain village, where she had remained for seventeen years.
Feng Ke’s birth mother had been the matriarch of the Feng family, making Feng Ke the eldest legitimate daughter by birth. The Eldest Miss of the Feng family, who should have been enjoying a life of splendor and wealth in the Capital City, was instead eking out a meager existence in a small mountain village two thousand li away from the Capital City.
According to Sister in law Gu, on the day Feng Ke was born, it was the middle of the day, yet the sky had suddenly turned as dark as night.
A fierce wind howled, like the wailing of a million ghosts.
The entire world was swallowed by darkness.
Only when the cry of a newborn baby echoed from the Feng family estate did the cold, terrifying darkness finally begin to dissipate.
"I was that baby?" Feng Ge raised an eyebrow. ’It seems there’s more to this body than just its Pure Yin constitution.’
Sister in law Gu nodded. "Yes, Miss was born at that very moment. Later, the master of the house invited a Daoist to perform a ritual. The Daoist said that you were born under a baleful star and were a person of ill omen."
The Daoist had said much more, all of it terrible, but she couldn’t bring herself to repeat it to her mistress. ’It’s best to just pretend I never heard any of it,’ she thought.
"The lady who ordered the Hanlin grove planted before this house, was that my birth mother?" Feng Ke asked.
"Of course not." Sister in law Gu’s eyes reddened as she spoke. "When your mother learned that the master was going to demote her from wife to concubine and send you away to this village, she threatened to kill herself, hoping he would let you stay. Who knew that when she struck her head, she would actually lose her life? It all played right into that woman’s hands!"
’So, Feng Ke’s birth mother was already dead, and the current matriarch of the Feng family was a complete stranger.’
’No wonder she had the Hanlin grove planted in front of the door. The woman wants me dead!’
She took out a handkerchief and offered it to Sister in law Gu. "Don’t cry. Crying solves nothing."
Feng Ge’s voice was cool and detached, which sounded terribly strange to Sister in law Gu.
’Her young miss never spoke like this.’
Feng Ge rose and slowly paced to the window. Peering through a gap, she gazed out at the courtyard. The bluish-green leaves of the Hanlin trees trembled in the wind. Even under the bright sun, wisps of dark, sinister energy swirled above the grove.
"It’s true I was born under a baleful star, but that doesn’t necessarily make me a person of ill omen. Those who claim I am... I’m afraid they have other motives!"
Whether a Pure Yin Woman or a Pure Yang one, both are spiritual bodies seen only once in a century.
The one of ultimate yin can commune with the netherworld; the one of ultimate yang can transcend the Dao.
’Who’s to say if Feng Ke was the lucky one, or if I am?’
’One left her soul, the other her body. Yin and yang have merged... what will fate have in store?’
’I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.’

Yun Changjun stared at Feng Li, who was barely breathing on the bed. He clenched his hands into fists, his knuckles turning a deathly white.
His eyes, usually as deep and calm as the sea, were now churning with a monstrous rage. Even the attendants standing outside the room could feel the surging torrent of his anger.
Chapter 7
Kneeling in the room was a youth in green robes, around sixteen or seventeen years old. His face was pale, and he trembled uncontrollably, not even daring to raise his eyes.
"Say that again!" Yun Changjun’s gaze never left the young man on the bed, his voice as cold as ice.
"Senior Brother, it really had nothing to do with me, I swear—" The youth tried to protest, but in a flash, Yun Changjun was in front of him. Powerful fingers wrapped around his neck, the pressure just enough to make him feel the agony of impending death without actually suffocating him.
