Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor
Chapter 523 - 522: The Demon Emperor’s Demise
Chapter 523: Chapter 522: The Demon Emperor’s Demise
WHOOSH!
The Empress transformed into a Golden Dragon and vanished into the Emperor’s Dragon Platform before her.
Light Patterns swirled across the Emperor’s Dragon Platform as it unleashed a boundless Emperor’s Qi. It then traversed space, appearing directly before Ling Fei.
Simultaneously, a wave of the Power of the Emperor swept the Dragon Chariot ten thousand meters away.
BANG!
At that exact moment, the terrifying Demon Dragon—condensed from the Demon Emperor’s self-detonation—slammed into the Emperor’s Dragon Platform.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion shook the heavens. The Emperor’s Dragon Platform erupted with terrifying Power, materializing a Light Shield that withstood the Divine Soul Power unleashed by the Demon Emperor.
That patch of the Void began to shatter, and terrifying shockwaves surged a thousand meters high. The sheer force of the fluctuations chilled every Cultivator in the Imperial Capital to the bone, making their souls tremble. Many stood frozen, staring intently at the Void and the Emperor’s Dragon Platform that had suddenly appeared. The world itself seemed to stand still in that moment.
Just as everyone was transfixed by the scene, another colossal boom echoed from the Void.
BOOM!
The explosion was heaven-shaking!
The Emperor’s Dragon Platform was sent flying, its Light Patterns shattering. After hurtling back eight thousand meters, a woman in palace robes and a Phoenix Crown was flung out from within it. A mouthful of blood streamed from the corner of her lips as her eyelids fluttered open, revealing a pair of dim, lifeless eyes.
’Has the Demon Emperor’s Divine Soul truly been burned to nothing?’ she wondered. She scanned the space before her, trying to see if the Demon Emperor’s Divine Soul had truly dissipated.
She could not be at peace until the Demon Emperor was gone.
After all, she had burned a massive amount of her Divine Soul Power and Blood Qi. She had no strength left to fight.
"Empress!" As the Empress was thrown back, cries echoed from within the Imperial Capital, tears welling in the eyes of the people.
Although she was the Empress, the people of the Imperial Capital had never held a particularly favorable impression of her.
Yet who would have thought that when a demon descended upon the Imperial Capital, it would be she who stepped forward to suppress the Demon Emperor.
Just now, she had exhausted her strength to block that strike for Ling Fei. Such a virtuous act commanded respect.
In an instant, the Empress’s stature grew immense in the hearts of the people.
Amidst these cries, the vast aftershocks of the blast surged forward, threatening to engulf Ling Fei.
This Power was immense, enough to annihilate even a Nascent Soul Realm Cultivator.
"Ling Fei!"
"Young Master Ling!" Seeing this, many people cried out in alarm, their faces filled with worry, afraid that Ling Fei would fall.
By now, the people of the Imperial Capital were also filled with immense respect for Ling Fei.
After all, if he hadn’t given his all to devour the Demon Emperor’s remnant soul, the Demon Emperor would never have resorted to mutual destruction.
It could be said that Ling Fei’s contribution to the Demon Emperor’s demise was indispensable.
The people of the Imperial Capital were truly filled with reverence for Ling Fei.
Now, seeing him in peril, many cried out in sorrow, hating their own powerlessness to save him.
However, at that very moment, a golden light flared around Ling Fei as the True Dragon Armor fully shielded him.
In addition, a dragon’s roar resounded. The heaven-shaking soundwave blocked a significant portion of the aftershock.
With Ling Fei blocking the terrifying power of the aftershock up ahead, the impact felt by those on the Dragon Chariot behind him was greatly reduced.
Aboard the Dragon Chariot, Lian Shuang manifested five Sword Lotuses, which were also neutralizing the incoming waves of energy.
"Empress!" After blocking the aftershock, Ling Fei’s gaze shifted, and he spotted the Empress, who had been blasted from the Emperor’s Dragon Platform.
At that moment, residual shockwaves still raged through the Void.
Under the onslaught of these shockwaves, the Empress was like a lone leaf on a stormy sea, tossed about by the raging currents.
PTHOO!
Mouthful after mouthful of blood spilled from the Empress’s lips. It seemed as if she could be annihilated by the force of the aftershocks at any moment.
It was a heartbreaking sight.
"Mother!" the Eighth Prince cried out in anguish, extremely anxious.
Unfortunately, he was too weak. Even though the aftershocks before him had weakened, he was still unable to withstand them.
The Third Prince’s expression also shifted, but mostly, he breathed a sigh of relief.
The Demon Emperor had, after all, finally been slain.
He had been under immense pressure when he first learned the Demon Emperor was wreaking havoc on the Imperial Capital.
As the heir to the throne, he, by all rights, should have been the one to step up and take charge.
He was naturally pleased that the Empress and Ling Fei had resolved the matter instead.
WHOOSH!
But Ling Fei’s eyes flashed. Without a hint of hesitation, he had Yiyi take action, carrying him through space toward the Void ahead.
OMMM!
Ling Fei vanished from his spot and reappeared at the Empress’s side.
With a swift movement, Ling Fei caught the Empress, who was being tossed about by the residual energy, and pulled her into his arms.
At the same time, a golden light burst from his body, forming a Golden Dragon Light Shield that enveloped both him and the Empress.
PTHOO!
As she was pulled into his arms, the Empress coughed up another mouthful of blood, staining her robes crimson.
"Is the Demon Emperor... truly dead?" After spitting out blood, the Empress’s long lashes fluttered. She looked up at Ling Fei and whispered. Even now, her main concern was whether the Demon Emperor had been slain, because if not, the Great Tang would never be safe.
"The Demon Emperor’s remnant soul burned itself out. His aura is gone from this place," Ling Fei said after extending his Heart Spirit to scan the area.
In truth, Ling Fei had clearly sensed the Demon Soul immolating itself while it was still within the Dragon Bone Pen’s Qi Vortex.
The Demon Emperor had truly exhausted everything, burning his entire Divine Soul in an attempt to take Ling Fei down with him.
"That is for the best." Hearing this, the Empress breathed a faint sigh of relief, a slight smile gracing the corners of her lips.
"Empress, why did you go so far for my sake? How will I ever be able to face Emperor Tang now!" Ling Fei said, taking a deep breath as he looked at her.
Emperor Tang had exhausted himself for the good of the realm; it should have been Ling Fei’s duty to protect his widow.
But now, the roles were reversed. The Empress had stepped forward to shield him from that fatal blow.
"You are the embodiment of His Majesty’s hopes. You cannot die," the Empress said solemnly, her gaze firm.
She was willing to pay any price, even her life, to protect what Emperor Tang had wished to protect.
"Your Highness’s virtue is truly admirable," Ling Fei said, taking a deep breath, his eyes filled with respect.
The Empress was, in the end, a woman, yet she was willing to stand up for the good of the realm.
The Third Prince, on the other hand, had no will to fight whatsoever.
"Young Master Ling, you praise me too highly," the Empress said with a faint smile, refusing to take credit. "It is enough for Ruyue to protect what His Majesty cherished. I desire nothing more." In her eyes, what she had done was no great accomplishment; it was merely the fulfillment of her own wish to protect what was dear to her.
"Be that as it a may, I owe Your Highness my life. From this day forward, your affairs are my affairs!" Ling Fei declared, his gaze sharp as he enunciated each word. No matter how one looked at it, the Empress had just risked her life to block the Demon Emperor’s final counterattack for him. That was a fact.
He then took out an Elixir and had the Empress consume it immediately.
The Empress was gravely injured. If she didn’t begin to recover immediately, there would be serious consequences.
After consuming the Elixir, the Empress’s breathing stabilized slightly.
At that moment, the Dragon Chariot flew over.
"Mother, are you alright?" the Eighth Prince asked hurriedly.
The Empress merely opened her eyes a fraction, ignoring him.
As for the Third Prince, he looked as if he wanted to say something but held his tongue, ultimately just standing off to the side.
He, too, felt he had no right to face the Empress.
’But the situation just now was so dire,’ he thought. ’I really didn’t have the courage to risk my life in that fight.’
