Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor
Chapter 520 - 519: Seeing the Demon Emperor Again
Chapter 520: Chapter 519: Seeing the Demon Emperor Again
The Demon Emperor had been unleashed. Even as just an exceedingly weak remnant soul, his might was still far beyond what the Cultivators of the Imperial Capital could match.
He manifested the body of a giant demon, his massive mouth gaping open to form a huge black Qi Vortex. A powerful force descended, pulling Cultivators and mortals alike into the Void. He then forcibly extracted their souls and devoured them to increase his Divine Soul Power and restore his origin.
In just a few moments, thousands of mortals had perished.
Wails of grief echoed through the Imperial Capital, but more numerous were the gazes filled with despair.
Now, not only was the Imperial Capital plagued by rampaging Evil Corpses, but the Demon Emperor was also capturing people. The Empire’s Cultivators were utterly unable to contend.
"Where did this Demon come from? Who will save me!"
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty!" All sorts of cries rang through the air.
SWOOSH!
At that very moment, a Flying Chariot streaked across the Void and entered the Imperial Capital.
Aboard the Flying Chariot, the Empress, Ling Fei, and the others gazed down, their attention fixed on the Imperial Capital below.
The Imperial Capital was in shambles. Even though the Thousand-Faced Daoist and the other major corpses had been slain, many Walking Dead were still running rampant.
The Divine Guards within the Imperial Capital took action, but they were unable to hold back the swarms of rampaging Walking Dead.
Without the Celestial Emperor to command them, the Imperial Capital was in disarray, its fighting power completely gone.
’I didn’t expect the Corpse Spirit Hall to move so quickly!’ Aboard the Flying Chariot, Ling Fei released his Heart Spirit. He sighed internally as he sensed the situation. ’As long as these Evil Cultivators aren’t completely eradicated, they will always be a scourge.’ As he sighed, his Heart Spirit continued to spread outward.
’What a familiar aura!’ As his Heart Spirit spread, Ling Fei’s pupils suddenly contracted. He sensed an incredibly familiar presence.
"Fly in that direction!" With a solemn expression, Ling Fei had the Empress steer the chariot toward the source of the aura.
As the Flying Chariot crossed the Void, the group finally saw roiling Demonic Qi ahead, where a colossal Demon was devouring mortals.
"It’s the Demon Emperor!" Ling Fei’s eyes glinted, the familiarity of the aura growing stronger.
He had clashed with this very Demon Emperor once before in Trapped Dragon Valley.
’I can’t believe he’s been unleashed!’ Ling Fei’s expression was grim.
"The Demon Emperor!" The Empress’s eyes flashed, and without a hint of hesitation, she urged the Flying Chariot onward.
The closer they drew, the more soul-shaking the Demon’s Might became.
’What a terrifying Demon!’ the Third Prince thought in horror. He was only at the Quasi-Nascent Soul Realm. Even with the Emperor’s Dragon Seal, he was powerless to fight back.
Upon encountering this Demon, he completely lost his nerve.
The Eighth Prince’s brow was also tightly furrowed.
With a single inhale from its massive mouth, the Demon before them sucked hundreds of mortals into the Void and devoured them.
The method was utterly terrifying.
At the same time, they could sense that the Demon’s aura was incredibly strong, far beyond that of an ordinary Nascent Soul Realm Cultivator.
"A Flying Chariot! That’s His Majesty’s Dragon Chariot!"
"Is His Majesty here?" As the Flying Chariot streaked across the Void, a Cultivator in the Imperial Capital spotted it and immediately cried out.
"His Majesty is here! We’re saved!" The crowd erupted in excitement as if they had seen the first light of dawn, completely unaware that Emperor Tang had already fallen.
"Your Majesty..." Hearing the voices from below, tears welled in the Empress’s eyes. Her people’s unwavering faith in Emperor Tang filled her with pride for him. ’Your Majesty, rest assured. Even though you are gone, I will protect the Great Tang Empire and guard your people in your stead.’
The Empress’s eyes glinted with resolve, her tone unshakably firm.
At this moment, a heroic air radiated from her, her gaze sharp and piercing. The aura she exuded was in no way inferior to that of any man.
’Such an Evil Demon knows no law. If it is not slain, it will bring disaster upon the world!’ Seeing the scene before him, a cold light glinted in Ling Fei’s eyes.
The Flying Chariot continued onward.
"Empress Dowager, can you truly contend with it?" the Third Prince could not help but ask.
As the Third Prince had inherited the throne from Emperor Tang, he was now the rightful Emperor, and the Empress would henceforth be honored as the Empress Dowager.
"This Demon seems incredibly strong!" the Eighth Prince added, restless with fear.
Though they both dreamed of being great, indomitable heroes like Emperor Tang, they were paralyzed by fear now that they were facing the crisis themselves.
’Two useless fools!’ Hearing their words, the Empress was enraged, utterly dissatisfied with the Third and Eighth Prince’s conduct.
Emperor Tang’s body was still sitting upright on the dragon throne!
Yet in the face of a great enemy, these two Princes were so cowardly. It was no wonder Emperor Tang had once considered passing the throne to Ling Fei.
He had even granted Ling Fei the authority to depose an Emperor.
The Empress sighed at the thought but didn’t dwell on it.
’If these Princes are incompetent, then I will have to be the one to carry this burden!’
Berated by the Empress, the Third Prince and the Eighth Prince looked timid and did not dare to speak.
Ling Fei also shook his head at the two Princes’ performance, sighing for Emperor Tang’s sake.
Emperor Tang had been so valiant, such a peerless hero, yet his sons were as cowardly as mice. It was a lamentable sight.
Even Shangguan Wan’Er shook her head.
"Give me the Emperor’s Dragon Seal," the Empress said to the Third Prince, her gaze darkening. "Today, I will personally slay this Evil Demon here."
"Here!" The Third Prince didn’t dare say more and hastily handed the Emperor’s Dragon Platform and the True Dragon Divine Seal to the Empress.
As far as he was concerned, having the Empress take the lead was the best possible outcome.
Back at the Lingyun Sect, the Third Prince had proclaimed himself a genius, acting with incomparable arrogance. He had even tried to show off his power and deal with Ling Fei.
But faced with a truly Great Demon, he had no will to fight whatsoever.
Seeing this, Ling Fei shook his head. ’The Empire can’t expect any protection from the Third Prince in the future,’ he knew.
Shangguan Wan’Er and Lian Shuang, however, remained very calm.
By now, they had weathered many great storms.
At that very moment, the Demon Emperor, who was in the middle of devouring mortals, sensed something. He turned his head, revealing his enormous face, and fixed his gaze on Ling Fei and the others.
"It’s you!" Upon seeing Ling Fei, a cold light flashed in the Demon Emperor’s eyes.
Then, he noticed Emperor Tang.
"Haha, so Emperor Tang has fallen too! It seems I have been unleashed at the perfect time!" the Demon Emperor cackled ferociously.
"What?! His Majesty has fallen?" Within the Imperial Capital, a Cultivator cried out, his face pale with shock.
"His Majesty has fallen? Then who can possibly save us now?!"
"How could His Majesty fall? How could he possibly fall?!" Instantly, the cries became even more desperate.
"The Emperor’s Dragon Platform and the True Dragon Divine Seal... all these treasures are here. Good. Very good!" The Demon Emperor’s gaze shifted, landing on the Celestial Emperor’s Divine Artifacts before the Empress. A fiery lust ignited in his eyes. "Today, I will finish all of you off, then I will conquer the Southern Wilderness and re-enter the Divine Wilderness!"
As his words fell, his massive hand moved, transforming into a black Dragon Claw that reached for the Flying Chariot ahead.
"Soul Capturing!" As the Demon Emperor struck, Ling Fei’s eyes flashed. He instantly activated the Dragon Bone Blood in his body, rousing the Dragon Bone Pen to action.
WHOOSH!
The Dragon Bone Pen fused into his right arm. He pointed a finger into the Void, and Light Patterns swept out, coalescing into a massive Qi Vortex that lunged forward.
The Qi Vortex shimmered with golden light, like a True Dragon lashing out, but the Seizing Dao Pattern within it was frantically devouring the Demonic Qi from the Demon Emperor’s massive hand.
