Divine War Pill Emperor
Chapter 620 - 618: Forbidden God Pillar
On the second level, the Black Water World, Jiang Chen devoured all the Corpse Heart Insects.
His body now possessed the same regenerative ability as the Corpse Heart Insects. Even if he were torn to pieces, he could recover as if he were never injured.
Jiang Chen was pleasantly surprised. This was the benefit the Corpse Heart Insects had given him.
Of course, this was only the beginning. As long as he continued to devour Corpse Heart Insects, he would one day truly possess an Undying Body.
And the Black Water World was constantly spawning new Corpse Heart Insects.
So there was no need to worry about them going extinct after he devoured them all.
’The third level.’
After staying in the Black Water World for a short while, Jiang Chen appeared directly on the third level.
The third level was empty, containing only the Cultivation Technique for Soul-Stealing, the third layer of the Nine Heavens Spirit-Seizing Technique.
When Jiang Chen had entered the third level before, he had already completely mastered its Cultivation Technique.
He already possessed the Nine Heavens Spirit-Seizing Technique, but what he had was more of a general outline.
The Soul-Stealing technique on this third level, however, was a detailed Cultivation Technique.
It was so detailed that the method of Cultivation was made perfectly clear.
Jiang Chen didn’t stay on the third level for long before heading directly to the fourth.
The fourth level was a Puppet Array composed of Divine Wood Puppets.
Jiang Chen stared at the Puppets, his eyes burning with passion.
’These Puppets... they’re different.’
’They can launch different attacks based on a Martial Cultivator’s level of Cultivation.’
Observing the Puppet Array, Jiang Chen instantly understood that it was somewhat similar to his Infinite Sword Array. The individual Puppets might not have high Combat Power, but by leveraging the Puppet Array, their Combat Power could be stacked infinitely.
The more Puppets there were, the stronger their combined power became.
Of course, the individual Combat Power of the Puppets also mattered.
The stronger the Puppets, the better.
’I need to experience this Puppet Array for myself again.’
Wanting to grasp the mysteries and essence of the Puppet Array, Jiang Chen moved in a flash and entered the formation.
The Puppets immediately launched an attack on Jiang Chen.
They spontaneously attacked with the power of Martial Arts Cultivation, matching Jiang Chen’s own level.
As the master of this place, Jiang Chen could have made the Puppets stop their assault at any moment.
But he didn’t. Instead, he continued to fight them, studying the Puppet Array in the process.
’If I could merge the Puppet Array with my Infinite Sword Array, the resulting power would be immense.’
Jiang Chen ended up spending a full three days within the Puppet Array.
Only then did he emerge from the Puppet Array.
A divine light flashed in his eyes.
’So that’s how it is.’
By now, Jiang Chen had completely comprehended the Puppet Array.
He even had a rough idea of how to merge it with his Infinite Sword Array.
The fifth level contained the Blood Vines, the legendary Cannibal Vines.
The Blood Vines could easily pierce through even the defenses of a Martial Cultivator.
At present, however, the Cannibal Vines weren’t of much use to Jiang Chen.
However, the Cannibal Vines were densely packed and seemed to stretch on without end.
But Jiang Chen had thought of a way to make use of the Cannibal Vines.
And that was through Spirit Arts.
By using Spirit Arts, if Jiang Chen were injured, he could draw upon the Life Force of these Cannibal Vines to heal himself. This method of healing was even more potent than the effects of an Elixir.
Soon enough, Jiang Chen appeared on the sixth level.
The Gravity Domain.
Jiang Chen stood at the bottom of a thousand-step staircase, gazing upward.
A Gravity Domain was active on the staircase.
This particular Gravity Domain was extremely peculiar.
If the gravity within the Domain reached a terrifying level, even the most powerful Martial Cultivator would be crushed to a pulp.
’I must master the Gravity Domain.’
Once again, Jiang Chen began his ascent through the Gravity Domain.
The Gravity Domain had immense utility. If two Martial Cultivators with the same level of Cultivation were to fight, Jiang Chen could use the Gravity Domain to drastically weaken his opponent’s Combat Power.
This would give him a much greater chance of victory.
Of course, if the gravity in the Domain reached its absolute limit, Jiang Chen wouldn’t even need to lift a finger. The mere appearance of the Gravity Domain would be enough to kill his opponent.
Crushing people to death with gravity alone—that was the terrifying power of the Gravity Domain.
Starting from the first step, Jiang Chen began to climb the staircase.
He stopped on each step to meditate on and comprehend the Gravity Domain.
Even in his past life, he had never been able to figure out this kind of Gravity Domain.
But in this life, he had an opportunity.
He had a premonition that everything in the Ghost Temple was created by beings from a Realm far beyond that of a god’s Cultivation.
This included the Ghosts, the Black Water and Corpse Heart Insects, the Puppetry Technique, the Blood Vines, and everything else.
This time, Jiang Chen spent a full half-month on this task.
And now, Jiang Chen stood on the thousandth step.
Looking down, he felt a slight tremor in his spirit.
In truth, he still had not managed to comprehend the Gravity Domain.
’It seems that mastering the Gravity Domain is not going to be so simple.’
At the same time, Jiang Chen was continuously absorbing and integrating the profound truths of the Great Dao left behind by the lingering will of Tian Du, the Eighth Generation Ghost Lord.
This was also of great help to him.
The Gravity Domain was not a power that could be controlled at his current level of Cultivation.
Simply put, the Gravity Domain bordered on the power of a fundamental universal Rule.
Perhaps even the Great Dao itself.
Therefore, for Jiang Chen at his current level of Cultivation, these concepts were still very distant.
After all, in this life, he was still very weak.
He was merely at the Second Heaven of Martial Arts Cultivation.
Although, compared to many people, he was already considered an expert.
Without lingering any longer, Jiang Chen appeared on the seventh level.
The seventh level contained only a single altar.
However, as he inspected the seventh level, he noticed something was missing.
’That’s right, the statue.’
’There used to be a statue of Fang Yinzi here, but now it’s gone.’
He looked at the spot where Fang Yinzi’s statue had once stood. It was now completely empty.
It seemed as though Fang Yinzi himself had taken it away.
Finally, Jiang Chen appeared on the eighth level.
Jiang Chen had never been to the eighth level before.
This was his first time truly setting foot on it.
The eighth level was empty.
There was only a vast, open space.
But on the ground within that space, massive pillars rose up, reaching for the heavens.
Each pillar was dozens of meters thick, with ancient chains dangling from it.
Looking at the bizarre eighth level, Jiang Chen was filled with questions.
Even as the Ninth Generation Ghost Lord, he had no idea what the pillars and chains on the eighth level were for.
The pillars here were countless, packed densely together.
The strangest thing was that each pillar was carved with a serial number, starting from one and continuing into a sequence so long it was impossible to count.
Walking up to one of the pillars, Jiang Chen observed it and the chains.
He saw that in addition to the serial number, there were words carved on the pillar.
"Forbidden God Pillar."
Jiang Chen looked at the Forbidden God Pillar and muttered to himself.
"Could this... be a prison?"
A guess suddenly surfaced in his mind.
These Forbidden God Pillars, complete with chains, really did look like they were for imprisoning convicts. Moreover, based on the literal meaning of the name...
’These Forbidden God Pillars were used to imprison gods.’
The miraculous nature of the Ghost Temple was unlike anything he had ever encountered in his life.
And it was clear that what he knew of the Ghost Temple was far from the whole story.
A veil of mist still shrouded the Ghost Temple in mystery.
