Divine Level Witch Doctor
Chapter 511 - 511: The White Cat Has Come
Zhao Yuan arrived at the airport just in time and, before long, spotted Ying Ji and Hao Li walking out with their suitcases.
To his surprise, Hao Li was also carrying a pet carrier.
After some brief pleasantries, Zhao Yuan pointed to the pet carrier and asked, "What's this all about? You brought a pet?"
"I didn't bring it—it insisted on coming," Hao Li said with a laugh. He reached out, opened the carrier, and a cat, pure white without a single differently colored hair, emerged from within.
"Xiaobai?" Zhao Yuan asked, his face a mask of surprise.
"Meow," the White Cat cried, then leaped into the air and landed on Zhao Yuan's shoulder. A Fire Spirit Insect poked its head out from the cat's fur and flapped its wings, as if greeting him.
Zhao Yuan stroked the White Cat's head, his mind reeling with questions. "What's going on? Did you go to my hometown and bring it here?"
"Do I look like I have that much free time?" Hao Li rolled his eyes and said testily, "I have no idea how this little guy found its way to my place. I went back to my room at noon to pack, and there it was, standing on my computer desk, looking down on me with this incredibly smug attitude. Cocky little thing. Luckily, I'd seen it before and knew it was your pet, otherwise I would've treated it like some random stray. I was planning to keep it at Lakefront House and have you come get it after we returned to Rongcheng City. But when I got to the airport, I discovered it had somehow hidden itself in my suitcase. I had no other choice, so I had it checked as pet cargo and brought it along."
Zhao Yuan's brow furrowed slightly.
'From the looks of it, the White Cat must have predicted something was going to happen. That's why it left my hometown, found Hao Li, and came with him to Huashang to meet up with me.'
'But how did it know Hao Li was coming to Huashang to meet up with me? And it's a ten-hour drive from my hometown to Rongcheng City. How did it complete such a long trek? It couldn't have run the whole way on its four little legs, could it?'
'My business in Huashang was over. The next step was to meet up with a friend of Hao Li and Ying Ji's, then head to Putuo Mountain together.'
'Does this mean something unexpected is going to happen on our trip to Putuo Mountain? Or maybe... some kind of treasure will appear?'
'After spending so much time with the White Cat, Zhao Yuan knew that whenever the little guy insisted on tagging along, something was bound to happen. He could only pray that it would be the appearance of a treasure...'
After thanking Hao Li, Zhao Yuan took out his phone and made a call to Zhao Ling.
Just as he'd guessed, his family had no idea the White Cat had run off. Back in his hometown, the cat was allowed to roam free. It would leave the house early every morning to lord over the village, bullying the local cats, dogs, and livestock into silent submission. Though it had only been there a few days, it had already established itself as the village tyrant.
According to Zhao Ling, today had been no different. The White Cat woke up, ate its food, and left the house first thing in the morning. She had assumed the little creature was just out on its usual tyrannical patrol, never imagining it had run off to Huashang to meet up with her older brother.
In fact, when she first heard Zhao Yuan, Zhao Ling thought he was joking. "Xiaobai is in Huashang? That's impossible!" It wasn't until Zhao Yuan snapped a photo of them together and sent it to her that she believed him, after which she couldn't stop exclaiming how incredible it was.
Zhao Yuan, on the other hand, was already used to it.
He had seen so many strange and unbelievable things happen around the White Cat that he was no longer easily surprised.
'This little guy is no ordinary cat. You can't judge it by common standards.'
Having explained the situation with the White Cat so his family wouldn't worry about its "disappearance," Zhao Yuan hung up. He then asked Ying Ji and Hao Li, "Where to next? Give me an address, and I'll get us a car."
"No need," Ying Ji said, waving her hand dismissively. "The Ying Family has business interests in Huashang. I called our people here before we arrived and had them arrange a car."
As she was speaking, a man and a woman in crisp business suits approached them. They bowed respectfully and said, "Hello, Second Miss. I am the head of Ying Real Estate's Huashang division..."
Ying Ji cut them off with cold arrogance. "I don't need to know who you are. Is the car I asked for here?"
The two were visibly taken aback but didn't dare show any anger. Forcing a smile, the man said, "It's here, in the parking garage. We'll take you there now."
Ying Ji waved her hand. "That won't be necessary. Just give me the keys and tell me what area it's parked in."
They didn't dare refuse. They obediently complied, handing the car keys to Ying Ji and telling her the car's location.
"Let's go," Ying Ji said to Zhao Yuan and Hao Li, and started walking away.
She was warm toward her friends, but couldn't be bothered to deal with strangers. This was partly due to her status as a Cultivator, but it was also inextricably linked to the air of arrogance she had developed growing up in a powerful clan.
Zhao Yuan, however, felt a bit bad about it and offered a word of thanks to the two employees.
This simple gesture of thanks left them looking utterly flattered, and they repeatedly insisted that they were unworthy of it.
Watching Ying Ji, Zhao Yuan, and Hao Li walk into the distance, the two managers from Ying Real Estate wiped the cold sweat from their brows and began to whisper. "The rumors were true. The Second Miss really is cold and unapproachable. Her friend, though, is pretty warm..."
Once in the parking garage, the three of them found the car without much trouble: a black Audi A6.
"The company branch here in Huashang doesn't have any decent cars. We'll have to make do with this," Ying Ji said as she pulled open the door and slid into the driver's seat.
Back in Rongcheng City, she only drove supercars, so to her, an Audi A6 really wasn't anything special.
"You rich people sure love to flex," Zhao Yuan said with a wry smile as he got into the car.
Ying Ji said scornfully, "Don't you pretend to be poor in front of me. You're the guy who walked away with over a hundred million from my Ying Family in a matter of minutes. You're the real tycoon here. My little slush fund is nothing compared to your wealth."
After a bit of banter, Zhao Yuan asked, "Oh, right. Where are we headed now? To the hotel to check in and drop off our bags?"
Hao Li replied, "The hotel can wait. First, let's go find Cheng Haoyu and ask him about the Raccoon Power situation."
"Exactly. We need to take care of business first," Ying Ji agreed.
"Fine by me," Zhao Yuan said. He didn't really have a preference. "So, where is this Cheng Haoyu?" he asked casually.
"Let me check, he sent me the address." Ying Ji pulled out her phone and searched for a moment. "Pu New Area, Peninsula Villa District, Building 15."
"Hm?"
Hearing that address, Zhao Yuan froze in astonishment.
'Isn't that the location of the Dixiu and Ghost Grass near Huashang that my Tracking Technique pointed me to?'
'Could it really be such a coincidence?'
