Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5303: Finally Back Home

Davis stood under the noon sun with that sentence still sitting in his mouth like something he had not meant to swallow.

He imagined winning should have felt heavier and real. It should have felt like a realm secured or a tribulation crossed and claimed, yet there was only the empty sky above his head, and no one was coming. He did not know what to do with a victory that arrived when the mind had already decided it was still in a state of fleeing.

The victory didn’t feel real as he feared that they might descend just as he let his guard down.

He swept his senses across the continent again. The edges, the space above, every fold where a pair of Verdant Seraph Wings might sweep through unnoticed or the Celestial Transcendent’s gaze might press down. Nothing answered his probe, even as he became a rude person and investigated people who didn’t seem related to his problems with Heart Intent.

The continent seemed to be already open to outsiders, as space merchants and pirates came pouring in along with immigrants, wishing to start a new life or plunder the place, but none of them seemed to be here for the singular purpose of finding Divergents.

Naturally, he couldn’t tell if someone was here to find Divergents, but he paid special attention to people who were snooping around, collecting information about strange happenings, which was just too many in the hundreds of thousands, but still well within his limits to observe.

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s spatial distortion traces were gone, just as she said they would be after a few minutes, fifteen at worst. Zest Hyluan’s delays at those junctions, if they had been delays at all, had done what they needed to do.

All the trails were dead. It should not be possible for them to follow anymore unless they possessed immense luck.

Davis sat back down slowly. The chilled rock had long been heated up under the radiance of the Solar Reverence and was now more hot since he had stood up. It gave heat through his robes, and he let it, since it allowed him to feel it was not a dream.

His index finger tapped on the rock, creating crack after crack before it split the rock in two.

Davis fell into the crack, still looking up at the skies. The Solar Reverence made his eyes squint. When he saw the Solar Reverence now, he could only remember how he was burned by the Celestial Transcendent’s fists.

It was as though the Celestial Transcendent would suddenly descend if he kept watching the Solar Reverence long enough.

A moment later, he sighed and flew up, shooting towards home.

From the central lands, he traversed east, slightly tilted towards the south. With his current speed, which exceeded tens of billions of kilometers per second should he were to use one percent of his energy every moment, his pace was fast, but he didn’t bother using that kind of energy. He only used a bit and cruised at his own pace, intending to take a few hours to return home while sightseeing and also maintaining further vigilance.

Mountains rose and fell, rivers cut silver lines through green and extended along the path. Cities sat like scattered coins, some bright with new construction, some still wearing the scars of recent turmoil from the Desolate Era. He presumed many had left for safer places, considering it wouldn’t be safer in cities that didn’t have any ruling powers to maintain law and order.

When heaven and earth energy thinned, even a child would understand that they would not have food on the table that night.

Seeing signs of rebuilding, his frowning expression gradually put on a smile.

He was glad he could reverse the Desolate Era into the Golden Era. It spelled nothing but good things for the world, but most importantly, for his family.

This achievement would always follow them even if he were to end up sealed. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Finally, Davis entered the Magical Beast Wildlands.

The air in the Magical Beast Wildlands was thick with vitality, still protected by the trees and rivers running through the land. The heaven and earth energy drifted like an invisible tide through the forest, and underneath the spread of the pure heaven and earth energy, it grew even more lush, inviting more and more people and beasts alike to live in.

His smiling expression adopted a frown as he could see many bandit hideouts.

He wondered if Mingzhi had failed to clear them or if there were just too many.

Regardless, as long as they weren’t in the vicinity of the sanctuary, he felt everything was fine.

Davis descended and entered the sanctuary.

It felt kind of novel to not see Stella here waiting for him, but he knew why, since she was somewhere else inside the sanctuary, ready to send everyone out to another mini realm somewhere far away.

He hid his pacts from the others, so Nadia and the others didn’t know he was here too.

He quickly appeared above his mansion and entered without announcing himself. The formation recognized him and opened a path. He landed in the inner courtyard as the last of the afternoon light slid off the eaves.

He remained silent, letting the peaceful atmosphere encroach on him.

But of course, no one was here.

How could they be here, considering they had all evacuated and were ready to be flung by Stella and Wix?

He presumed Wix Voidfield might’ve already left along with the Saintess Lunaria’s disciples. He didn’t know if Stella managed to learn her mother’s technique in time, but should Wix Voidfield have left, he guessed they might’ve already been flung to the other mini-realm.

With that, he removed the concealment from the pacts and was able to sense the others.

They were at the southern end of the sanctuary, intent on escaping south- towards the Beast Autarch Upper Realm or continuing to traverse the floating continents across the many mini-realms Wix Voidfield had previously placed.

It barely took a few seconds.

A spatial vortex opened right above him, and Isabella shot out of it first, pouncing towards him.

"My Emperor!~"

Immediately, many other beauties followed suit, quickly burying him in warmth and flavor.

"Haha."

Davis let himself fall to the ground as he chuckled with relief and happiness. They held him with tears in their eyes, and he could sense all the tense and stressful emotions in their heart disperse like the breeze in the wind, replaced with immense fondness and elation.

Evelynn slowly descended at last. She smiled lovingly while hovering in the air.

"I’m back."

Davis’s gaze met hers, and he said with an awkward smile, since there was no last stand.
