Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4739 Fellow Ghosts

Chapter 4739  Fellow Ghosts

"Fellow ghosts…"

Lady Thunderwraith muttered, not really understanding what he said. Could it be that he was a ghost before hunting down his new incarnation? She couldn't tell. However, it didn't sound like a lie to her, making her feel a sense of camaraderie.

For the first time, she giggled eerily, "Ghosts don't have camaraderie. To each their own, but I suppose I can take that hand you reached out. Can I believe you have a way to bring me out?"

"How can we know if we don't try?"

Davis chuckled, "I don't even know if I can leave."

"What do you mean?" Lady Thunderwraith's brows narrowed.

Clearly, he had been given permission to leave. Who would dare to go against that entity that even made a fellow above Exalt Stage expert flee faster than a speed she could comprehend?

Davis didn't say anything.

He walked away, heading to the place where he had entered from. With the blood mist mostly gone because the Blood Quintessence Orbs have been depleted to nurture the fruits, the ghostly yin energy took over. But with the Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak ahead, it was easier to navigate.

In an hour, he arrived at the entrance.

Stepping out, he no longer sensed the barrier. Rioxys's grandfather seemed to have stayed true to his words and got Archon Zaratu to stand down, but Davis didn't feel any joy over it. He walked ahead with the jade container in his arms as he climbed the mountain and flew across the forest.

The sky was dark by now, and there was no sign of those deities.

However, looking up, Davis found some Realm Calamities walking out of the shadows, their eyes intently locked onto the jade container that leaked True Deity Grade aura.

*Grarr!~*

One of them pounced, its claws descending like a hammer.

Davis didn't even bother to dodge as his body was destroyed with one slice of its paws. Its fatal energy thoroughly cleaved his body, and the remaining flesh that barely survived was sent flying, but no blood leaked. The jade container was also sent flying, but it hit a tree and tumbled down, only to reveal nothing other than emitting faint traces of True Deity Grade aura.

"See?"

From a great distance away, Davis raised both his hands and held his palms up at the incident with an unimpressed expression.

"I leave, and I get devoured by Realm Calamities. I won't even find it surprising if some Calamities have been intentionally brought there by both spirit deities. They could get rid of me and still enjoy the fruit while upholding their words."

"…" Lady Thunderwraith's expression wasn't good.

She looked at Davis with a complicated gaze.

"Tsk, tsk. Don't look at me like that." Davis calmly waved his hand, "They appear to be like a sect. To them, their words are worth more after having lived so long. They wouldn't easily break it, so they won't intentionally send anyone to kill me, but they will still try to make it difficult for me to leave. I should be safe here for a few months, so I have enough time to think of a way out. The only problem is…"

Davis gazed at the jade container in his hands, "It would be difficult to take this with me. At the end, when it seems like I'm about to leave, I will likely have to present it to that existence who saved me as a tribute and buy my way out."

"…" Lady Thunderwraith's gaze shook.

How far ahead was this man thinking? She was momentarily taken aback, slightly amazed.

Davis's smile suddenly turned wry, "Even then, it isn't a given. I'm an Anarchic Divergent. They could simply drop all pretenses and end me."

"But that existence said they owed you a favor…" Lady Thunderwraith said, but her voice didn't have much weight behind it, as though even she didn't believe it.

"Yes," Davis nodded, "There are no lies to those words. Except you don't understand the circumstances behind that favor. The one who cares for me isn't that existence but his granddaughter, whom my family saved and managed to bring here, where her grandfather is. As long as he could placate his granddaughter, my life didn't matter. Besides, I'm not fully convinced that he thinks he owes me a favor. After all, the mother of that granddaughter, possibly his own daughter, has left home to who knows where. That family's circumstances aren't simple…"

His expression was unamused since he didn't even know if Rioxys Plume was safe. If she had freedom, she would've also come here to see him. However, the deity also told him to come meet her at the foot of the mountain. It left him confused as to whether she was only on home arrest or had been imprisoned.

Depending on how she was treated, his fate could be determined.

'Damn it, I can't be thrown around by these powerful entities or I would never see my family again…'

Davis rubbed his temples as his head ached.

There were too many unknowns for him to chart an escape plan.

He couldn't just naively hope that if he managed to leave this region, they would magically let him go.

"I'm just going to assume at least that the existence who is responsible for this place is still lurking outside. That gives us the only option to reach the foot of the mountain from this side. If I remember correctly, Cantor Darkdew, a spirit I enslaved, said that violence is prohibited in the Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak, so that would be our only place left to escape."

"There were also supreme geniuses there, so it shouldn't be wrong. Perhaps the reason why Zaratu left quickly was to take shelter on the mountain. If it's there, then even other deities wouldn't dare feel greedy for the fruits he harvested. Most likely, there must be a terrifying existence protecting them from all the True Deity Stage Calamities lurking in the central region of the Shard Continent."

"…" Lady Thunderwraith was speechless.

How was he getting all this from just bits and pieces of information?

"That's too many guesses. You could be wrong…" She said after some consideration.

"If it's wrong, then it's wrong. No use mulling over it when I just got a few choices to make, and this one seems the most prominent for our survival. Besides…"

Davis's expression churned. He knew if he took too long, his women would come looking for him. It was because he was in danger that Tia couldn't tell, but if she started divining the odds of Rioxys Plume returning, she would notice the strangeness of the situation and lead the others here.

His expression suddenly fell as he recalled that Tia had made a divination that Isabella would face extreme danger in two years. In that case, there was only around a year left for that time to near.

'Could it be that Isabella comes in search of me…? No, that shouldn't be possible unless Rioxys fate and ours were already intertwined...'

Abruptly, he recalled-
