Divine Beast Creator
Chapter 2735 - 2736: Tit for Tat
Xing Bo has an invincible ultimate move, but the opponent decided that using Holy Land would be more effective than Holy Sanctuary. The invincible defense is relative; if the offensive ultimate move comes with some absurd effects, penetrating invincible defense is not impossible.
Based on Xing Bo’s understanding of Xiao Ji, the likelihood that the opponent’s ultimate move contains such effects is almost one hundred percent.
In this situation, Holy Land is even more effective because it doesn’t directly negate the attack but reduces massive damage which is then collectively borne by itself.
It seems unwise because if excessive damage is high enough, one could be killed by the overload damage too.
However, Xiao Ji’s damage has yet to reach that level, and, interestingly, strategies such as immunity to attacks tend to have various special targeting effects, while effects like significant damage reduction change accordingly depending on their resistance capabilities, even unaffected by those types of effects.
It sounds incredible, but essentially it’s just the self-balance of rules. Even damage reduction doesn’t completely immunize from damage, much like Xing Bo’s release of Holy Land itself doesn’t immunize against certain environment-eliminating special effects.
Yet even in this case, special effects that directly destroy invincible defense won’t take effect because that isn’t an invincible-type effect.
To counter Holy Land, either overwhelm it with damage far beyond its limit so the excessive reduced damage kills the opponent, or use special effects like venue elimination to cancel out Holy Land.
If Xing Bo used a defense effect that halved the damage and allowed the remaining damage to fully impact itself, then only brute force damage could kill the opponent with no special effects effectively targeting it.
Of course, this method doesn’t apply to Xing Bo either because Xiao Ji wouldn’t waste strength using targeted methods, except when maybe occasionally targeting immunity to damage effects, while the damage reduction effects Xiao Ji likely wouldn’t bother specifically countering.
As things stood, it didn’t surprise the opponent. Oracle·Thunder Punishment truly possesses a Divine Beast Level special effect of disregarding absolute defenses and other damage immunity effects, though without corresponding restraints on damage reduction because Xiao Ji didn’t consider such aspects.
Or rather, in Xiao Ji’s view, as long as it’s not completely immune to damage, there’s always potential to be killed by overflowing damage which isn’t worth laboring over specific targeting.
Even if it withstands the first time, wouldn’t another attempt suffice?
Both sides anticipated each other’s thoughts, inevitably affecting their strategies. Apart from Xiao Ji, this guy primarily remains aggressive, as with his increasing approach to Divine Beast Level, Xiao Ji is widening the gap between himself and Ordinary Spirit Beasts.
Although Xiao Ji’s ordinary ultimate moves might not have breakthrough power, they come with various high-priority additional effects, which have little impact at lower levels but become crucial at the Legendary Level, where special effects have become a key factor in the ultimate move’s power.
There’s no choice — moving into Legendary Level, ultimate moves naturally come with all sorts of chaotic effects, these effects counterbalance each other, and if one happens to be countered by the opponent’s ultimate move effect, it may result in its power being halved or more.
Oracle·Thunder’s effect is so bluntly violent that besides its extreme attack and destructive power, there remains only the special penetration defense effect: any effect capable of completely immunizing damage that doesn’t exceed the priority range of Legendary Level will be disregarded.
As Netherworld Crow withdrew simultaneously with Thunder’s disappearance, Xiao Ji unfolded its wings and cried towards Ah Mu and Hao Chun Bird. With the blessing of Domain Awakening, they barely managed to block Xiao Ji’s attack.
However, this was only under Xiao Ji’s execution of wide-ranging attacks; if switched to now concentrating Crimson Judgement, Ah Mu and the others might not withstand it.
Just as Xiao Ji again battled with Ah Mu and the others, Flame Chasing Furry Dog also approached Xing Bo and the others. If it doesn’t handle them, surely Xing Bo and Cotton will go to support Ah Mu and the others.
After all, the threat brought by Xiao Ji is too immense. Without teaming up to eliminate Xiao Ji first, they might gradually fall into a disadvantage and be defeated.
Thus, Xiao Ji and Flame Chasing Furry Dog need to confront Ah Mu’s group of four Beast Tamers, which obviously is challenging.
"Has Flame Chasing Furry Dog seized an opportunity?"
Feng Yuan said, somewhat surprised, seeing Flame Chasing Furry Dog releasing Blazing Flame Sea again. Understandably, Flame Chasing Furry Dog’s prelude to a big ultimate move is quite apparent. As soon as you see Flame Chasing Furry Dog beginning to absorb flames, you need to be on alert to defend against it.
Not sure whether it was residual effects of Oracle·Thunder Punishment, this time among the blazing flames in the Blazing Flame Sea released by Flame Chasing Furry Dog, there appeared many sacred golden-white flames. Unlike ordinary red and yellow, the golden-white flames with a white interior appeared to carry a tremendously strong holy aura.
"Ultimate Move relay? No, Xiao Ji shouldn’t have this ability."
Scratching his chin, Feng Yuan puzzledly watched the changes before him; the additional flames in Blazing Flame Sea had something to do with Xiao Ji previously using Netherworld Crow to summon Thunder. Those thunders carried a holy aura and left a part of the holy power after the attack on the battlefield.
Flame Chasing Furry Dog being Xiao Ji’s teammate can thus activate the ultimate move seeds left by Xiao Ji.
However, can Flame Chasing Furry Dog really hit Cotton and Xing Bo this time?
Glancing towards Cotton and Xing Bo setting up the position, Feng Yuan felt uncertain because Cotton once again summoned avatars, clearly planning to use the same trick and spatially transfer when Flame Chasing Furry Dog attacks.
Feng Yuan was not optimistic about Flame Chasing Furry Dog’s attack this time because facing Spatial Transfer, it truly has no good method, or rather, not even Xiao Ji has an alternative.
Unless space layers are destroyed, preventing Spatial Transfer is genuinely challenging for non-Space-attribute Spirit Beasts.
Flame Chasing Furry Dog glanced at Xiao Ji, who was currently executing an ultimate move preparing to strike Ah Mu and the others, not with Crimson Judgement but Netherworld Storm. Only now Xiao Ji’s awakened Underworld Domain in the air makes Netherworld Storm’s power extremely intimidating.
Rolling its eyes, Flame Chasing Furry Dog flicked its tail, quickly inhaling flames. Yet possibly pursuing speed, Flame Chasing Furry Dog didn’t fully ingest flames from Blazing Flame Sea; instead, having rapidly absorbed a large amount, it spat out a fire-red gemstone.
"I see."
Dou Yanlan had guessed Flame Chasing Furry Dog’s intentions. The other party is attempting to block subsequent operations of Cotton because, in terms of skill play, Flame Chasing Furry Dog may not be Cotton’s competitor.
However, using strategies to limit Cotton and Xing Bo’s follow-up is quite effective because the methods Cotton can utilize are limited. By blocking those possibilities in advance, even knowing Flame Chasing Furry Dog’s plans, Cotton cannot respond effectively.
A fiery beam of energy blasted towards Xing Bo’s Holy Land. Cotton and Xing Bo exchanged glances, reluctantly initiating a counterattack, as they both noticed those golden-white flames unattended by Flame Chasing Furry Dog.
Yet then, Xiao Ji’s Netherworld Crow suddenly took action, even though Xiao Ji was exerting full force against Ah Mu and Hao Chun Bird, theoretically unable to spare energy to support Flame Chasing Furry Dog.
But just then, Netherworld Crow moved; like God’s envoy, they began proclaiming.
The sky turned crimson, Flame Rain descended from above, Feng Yuan hesitated momentarily and said,
"Is this a Fire Attribute attack? Xiao Ji’s Netherworld Crow truly can switch back and forth between different attribute attacks."
As Flame Rain fell, Cotton and Xing Bo began releasing big ultimate moves; it was impossible to continue resisting.
Ordinary attacks may be blocked by the rain teamed with Flame Chasing Furry Dog’s innate abilities; only big ultimate moves might have the chance to break through.
Xing Bo’s big ultimate move, Sacred Holy Land unleashed, though not adept at attacking, is an invincible ultimate move providing attack immunity whilst boosting ally ultimate moves’ power within the range once more.
Indeed, Sacred Holy Land can be viewed as an alternative Awakening Domain.
Cotton itself isn’t a Spirit Beast specialized in attack, so its attack methods are relatively weak. However... if it can hit Flame Chasing Furry Dog, it’s not impossible for a turnaround.
Unfortunately, at this point, Flame Chasing Furry Dog abandoned Flame Shield’s protection, allowing Flame Beam attacks autonomously. Its mouth condensed terrifying flame power, thoroughly absorbing the surrounding Blazing Flame Sea, even unceasingly devouring falling Flame Rain from the sky.
No need for much guessing; everyone understood Flame Chasing Furry Dog was about to use Release·Annihilation Fire.
