Divine Beast Creator
Chapter 2705 - 2706: The Upcoming Final Battle
After several days, Feng Yuan finally finished reading all the files. Initially, he thought the cultural history of Cha Mu Town Area wasn’t complicated, but after going through the actual materials, he found out how naive he was.
Even in a place like Cha Mu Town, there were still many bizarre and unique incidents in the records. The only comforting part was that there was nothing as elusive or epoch-making as the Ancestor Spirit in the later records.
After finishing the files, Feng Yuan had a complete idea of the Special Spirit Beast Decoration he was about to create. Although he couldn’t make it very aesthetically pleasing to ensure its effectiveness, Feng Yuan was quite satisfied.
Whether Xiao Ji was satisfied, Feng Yuan didn’t know, but to ensure the additional effect of the Ultimate Move, he couldn’t continue to modify it.
"That’s it, what do you think?"
Tossing the pen onto the table, Feng Yuan called Xiao Ji over, and Veronia curiously leaned in to look at the design blueprint Feng Yuan had drawn. After a while, she looked at Feng Yuan with a strange expression and said,
"You’re being lazy."
She instantly recognized the main design of the blueprint as copied from the Qi Realm Timeline feather cloak, only with optimized changes in detail, and the cultural characteristics of the Cha Mu Town Area were arranged within the feathers.
Saying Feng Yuan didn’t put effort into it wouldn’t be fair, since the characteristic motifs were all summarized by him; however, the overall shape clearly showed his laziness.
"How can you say it’s lazy? Don’t you think it suits Xiao Ji just right?"
Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan replied irritably, to which Veronia said with a snort,
"It does suit, but clearly, you’ve copied someone else’s design."
"Who says so? Aren’t these motifs compiled by me? Not to mention the integration of these details that took quite a bit of effort; a mere copy might not look this good."
"Maybe so, perhaps a direct copy would be more aesthetically pleasing."
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Veronia quipped sarcastically, while Xiao Ji couldn’t spot any issues with the blueprint—or rather, anything prepared by Feng Yuan for it would make it happy.
Seeing Xiao Ji speaking up for Feng Yuan, Veronia chuckled softly, saying,
"You like it, anything he makes for you, you like, huh?"
Despite what she said, Veronia didn’t mean much by it. After all, even with the special version carrying an Ultimate Move, she didn’t place much value on Spirit Beast decorations.
To her, it was as good as an ornament, and since it was a gift from Feng Yuan to Xiao Ji, she felt there wasn’t much she could say about someone liking a gift.
As Feng Yuan wrapped up his preparations, the preparations for the great showdown were also complete. This decisive battle was a head-on confrontation for both sides, the United Army could not keep it a secret, nor could it be concealed.
The large-scale mobilization of forces and adjustments to the Main World’s defensive arrangements couldn’t hide from the Imperial People. The Imperial Timeline couldn’t just watch the United Army win easily; losing a continent would only make their subsequent battles more challenging.
With their previous clashes, both sides were well aware that reconciliations were impossible. Either the Main World would successfully occupy the entire Imperial Timeline, or the Imperial Timeline would manage to conquer the Main World.
However, with the current situation, the United Army’s chances of winning were evidently higher.
In preparation for the great showdown, all cities heightened their vigilance. Although unlikely, they still prepared for the worst-case scenario—if the Imperial People, when defeated, would make a move against the Main World.
Qi Chen and his group were originally stationed at Kui Shan Town, but as the great showdown approached, Maomu City mobilized all available Beastmasters, and even the City Defence Army originally sent to Cha Mu Town Area was redeployed.
Coincidentally, because there were Beastmasters stationed at the Li Mountain Village where Feng Yuan was, and since Li Mountain Village was a place they needed to protect, the City Defence Army wasn’t withdrawn from there.
However, places like Chishan Village, which provided leisure services for contributing Beastmasters, had to temporarily suspend their operations. The Beastmasters who were resting there received orders from Maomu City to stand guard at important locations.
Feng Yuan neither knew nor cared about these changes, being busy crafting the special Spirit Beast decorations within Li Mountain Village.
"Is it really okay? Leaving them to guard Kui Shan Town alone."
Qi Chen asked Dou Yanlan with some concern. Although they weren’t privy to Maomu City’s overall deployment plan, due to their status, they were aware that the guardianship of Kui Shan Town currently relied entirely on Mythological Remnants.
Moreover, no one from Kui Shan Town had been temporarily evacuated to the Data City.
Within Maomu City’s jurisdiction, apart from Cha Mu Town Area, only the civilians of Kui Shan Town hadn’t been temporarily relocated to Data City for safety.
Cha Mu Town had alternative arrangements by He Nanqing and others—not as protective as Data City, but capable of safeguarding most people.
On the other hand, it wasn’t that people from Kui Shan Town were unwilling to leave. Although Data City was safe, relatively speaking, no one could guarantee that Imperial People wouldn’t launch a surprise attack from within the Data Domain.
Furthermore, since Kui Shan Town was protected by Mythological Remnants, at least for direct confrontations, they had easily repelled multiple Imperial People assaults. To them, Mythological Remnants were still reliable.
"With the strength of Mythological Remnants, it should be fine. Comparatively, whether we can fend off the Imperial People is the real concern."
Dou Yanlan said with a helpless expression, to which Qi Chen, surprised, asked Dou Yanlan,
"Are we that bad?"
"No, with Feng Yuan’s City of Death, the Divine Beast Drudgeon, and the Temple, most of the time we can win. But with Feng Yuan not being here, I can’t be absolutely sure."
Even though reason told her that Feng Yuan was just a mysterious ordinary person, she always felt reassured with his presence. Unfortunately, he was now resting on the other side of Cha Mu Town, so in case of an unexpected incident, he might not return in time.
"Shouldn’t...be right?"
Qi Chen’s face darkened slightly, and Dou Yanlan shook her head with a smile, saying,
"It’s just the worst-case scenario. Maybe they don’t have the strength to attack us—I hope that’s the case. At least...we’d have fewer casualties."
"You’re such worrywarts. Speaking of which, if the United Army doesn’t win the showdown, it would be a major hassle."
A companion beside them couldn’t help but voice their thoughts upon hearing their conversation. She meant no harm; she, like Dou Yanlan, was also a commander but not aware of the power of the Divine Beasts.
"Though I don’t know how powerful Divine Beasts truly are, since Agunas once mentioned wanting to obliterate the Imperial Timeline, perhaps... they have a way to completely destroy it."
Feng Yuan never mentioned this, but Dou Yanlan could infer this outcome from previous conversations. When it came to Divine Beasts, neither those following Feng Yuan nor Feng Yuan himself liked to joke.
This means at least Agunas possesses the ability to directly destroy the Imperial Timeline. As to why they haven’t done so, Dou Yanlan suspects it may be related to Divine Beasts not easily intervening in human wars and the resources within the Imperial Timeline.
"Nonsense, if it were that simple, why wouldn’t the Divine Beasts completely obliterate the Imperial People, instead of slowly advancing like they’re playing a game?"
The speaker, despite expressing disbelief externally, had long harbored doubts internally. As they mentioned, the movements of the United Army appeared somewhat abnormal to those observing closely.
Not because they advanced too slowly, but because... it bore an eerie resemblance to meticulously standardized reports in war games.
And if not for the multiple times Imperial People ambushed the Main World, merely reading the reports could make them question reality—can real wars proceed so systematically?
Unfortunately, it aligns with reality, and it’s unlikely that the United Army would falsify battle reports, leaving them only with suspicions and no concrete confirmation.
Dou Yanlan, however, had guessed a part of it; perhaps the Divine Beasts in the United Army haven’t exerted their full strength, and were restraining themselves, forcing the battles toward their desired direction.
Even this great showdown appeared questionable to those in the know. After all, while the Imperial People couldn’t give up on the continent where the East Continent Great Xia Alliance was located, they had other options, like starting a guerrilla war, rather than directly engaging the United Army in a head-on showdown, especially since the United Army hadn’t even occupied more than half of that continent, yet they assuredly predicted the Imperial People would fight them as planned.
