Divine Beast Creator
Chapter 2699 - 2700: Origin and Source
The Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits never manifested, and the related records were only within Li Mountain Village. Many in Cha Mu Town weren’t even aware of this special presence. The other person led Feng Yuan towards the altar within the Li Mountain Ancient Tomb, where ancient lines depicted the history of the Pinli Clan and the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits engraved in the corner of a mural.
"I thought it would be right in the center."
Looking at the mural of the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits hidden in the corner, Veronia couldn’t help but say. Feng Yuan glanced at Zeng Chengwei and, seeing that he wasn’t angry, breathed a small sigh of relief.
The other person didn’t know Veronia’s identity, but a Spirit Beast that could speak human language wasn’t simple, so he didn’t pay much attention to Veronia’s words. Although the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits was special, it held no special status in their eyes.
As long as the words weren’t too excessive, he really wouldn’t care. Besides, it was quite strange that the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits was hiding in a corner, and no one knew why. The only certainty was that the Ancestor Spirits might truly date back to the time of the Pinli Clan.
"So, this is the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits, wait a minute..."
Looking at the oddly shaped Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits, Feng Yuan rubbed his chin. He felt something was off about it — no, to be precise, it seemed not purely human or a human image, but more like a special kind of Rune?
"Strange, this looks like a Rune? The direction of those patterns is very similar to Rune logic."
Veronia beside him also noticed the anomaly. The reason people in Cha Mu Town couldn’t tell was that the Rune logic was closer to the Mythical Era’s Rune logic. Although they were all Runes, the construction logic of Runes in different eras wasn’t necessarily similar, let alone the immense difference between the Mythical Era and later eras.
As a result, even after studying for so long, they hadn’t noticed the patterns on the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits were more akin to Runes.
"Indeed, this seems to be a variant of a Mythical Era Rune? That’s strange, since the Pinli Clan emerged a considerable time after the Mythical Era."
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan found it odd. The emergence of the Pinli Clan was during the mid-stage of the Dynasty Era, and in this period, they shouldn’t have encountered anything from the Mythical Era.
Yet, the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits had Rune logic and characteristics of the Mythical Era. Feng Yuan could even barely decipher the construction of the Rune based on his knowledge of the Mythical Era’s Rune logic, proving its direct connection to the Mythical Era.
"Perhaps they discovered information from an ancient civilization by accident, like how Salonto did?"
Veronia then thought of a possibility. Of course, this possibility existed but always felt slightly off.
"Could it be that there are relics from the Mythical Era in the Tea Wood Town Area? Although it’s possible, there are no records of external wars in the historical accounts of the Tea Wood Town Area."
Feng Yuan pondered uncertainly. If there were records of wars waged from the Tea Wood Town Area, he might suspect this "thing" was looted from the outside, but no such records existed. According to the known history of Cha Mu Town, although they had exchanges with the outside world, there were no records of massive outward expansions.
Artifacts from mythical civilizations are special in any era, and no one would easily let go of them. Although acquiring them through trade was possible, Cha Mu Town couldn’t afford it theoretically.
But the fact remains that this "thing" appeared, and Feng Yuan didn’t know what was going on. After analyzing the Rune information of the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits for a while, Feng Yuan rubbed his chin and said,
"I see, it’s all related to faith. The rules of the faith system were established even before the Temple, but I didn’t expect that part of the rules was established so early."
After analyzing the Rune information of the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits, Feng Yuan had figured out what the Ancestor Spirit was all about or rather, how it came to be. He also understood how Cen Yue put an end to the channel through which the Ancestor Spirit was born.
"So what the Saintess Cen Yue did was erase the transformation Runes, preventing new Ancestor Spirits from being born, and simultaneously erasing the true existence of the Ancestor Spirits?"
Coming from the Mythical Era, Veronia could naturally understand these Runes. Given they stemmed from the Mythical Era’s Rune logic and weren’t encrypted, Veronia could easily interpret the operational process within.
As to why no one in later generations could repair the damage that Cen Yue caused, it was simple: humans couldn’t understand the Runes of the Mythical Era and had no idea how to repair them — or even what Cen Yue did.
Thinking of something, Veronia looked at Feng Yuan and said,
"That Saintess Cen Yue seems quite special. After all, not everyone can understand our Mythical Era’s Runes."
This wasn’t a joke. Utilizing relics from the Mythical Era wasn’t particularly difficult, as many were complete tools. Activation was roughly all that was needed. What the other party did was clearly a selective destruction of crucial transformation parts, making the Runes, which could have formed a true Ancestor Spirit, incomplete and eventually resembling an Ultimate Move.
Without understanding the Rune’s structure, it would be impossible to achieve this. Otherwise, she might have simply destroyed the entire Ancestor Spirit Rune instead of leaving a portion to become an Ultimate Move.
But it’s built on Mythical Era’s foundations, and understanding it isn’t something just anyone can do. Even Divine Beasts couldn’t all comprehend the Mythical Era’s Runes.
This raised suspicions, as Cen Yue definitely had someone understanding the Mythical Era behind her, leading and directing this action to its final result.
"Never mind. Since he didn’t do anything to the Tea Wood Town Area, at least there was no harm. As for the Ancestor Spirits... luckily, not many have seen this, or it would have spelled trouble."
Shaking his head slightly, Feng Yuan looked helplessly at the mural of the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits. As the root of Ancestor Spirits, it was indeed special. The part that the Saintess Cen Yue destroyed was still fully recorded in the mural of the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits. Or, during the entire Divine Chaos Period, the source of all Ancestor Spirit structures was the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits.
It’s no wonder they called it the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits. At least now that Feng Yuan had seen it, he was confident he could complete and create a new Ancestor Spirit.
Indeed, a complete one, not the projection summon-type Ultimate Move of Li Mountain Village as it is now.
Feng Yuan didn’t expect that the Saintess Cen Yue would overlook the records in this mural — or perhaps she didn’t realize the mural of the Ancestor of Ancestor Spirits actually recorded the complete construction of the Ancestor Spirit Rune?
"Is there something wrong with it?"
Zeng Chengwei asked in confusion, scrutinizing Feng Yuan. This mural had been there for so long, and it was the first time he saw someone speak of it like Feng Yuan. He hadn’t sensed any special power on the mural.
"Well, how should I put it, this thing actually records the birth process and method of your Ancestor Spirit. That is to say, if someone who can understand it sees this, they’ll know how to create Ancestor Spirits from the Divine Chaos Period."
After hesitating for a moment, Feng Yuan decided to reveal this. After all, not knowing was one thing. Now that he knew, not giving a heads up seemed inappropriate to Feng Yuan.
Just because no one could understand it before doesn’t mean no one can now. Don’t forget that the Old World Continent is the residence of the Mythological Remnants, and as descendants of the Mythical Era, they can definitely understand the Runes here.
Of course, those people aren’t interested in it, since dealing with faith systems is troublesome for them. If they really wanted to use it, artifacts from the Mythical Era would be more convenient and powerful.
But someone will surely take an interest. Feng Yuan estimated that no one would come to Cha Mu Town to cause trouble because of this, given that Drudgeon appears here from time to time. If anything were to happen, they’d have to be wary of Drudgeon showing up.
Suddenly, Feng Yuan thought of something and said,
"Could the Saintess Cen Yue have modified this with the help of Drudgeon? But why would Drudgeon forget to handle this thing?"
Unlike other Divine Beasts, Drudgeon also lived through the Mythical Era and possesses lost magic. Being of a special sequence, understanding this Rune is normal. Coupled with its relationship with the Tea Wood Town Area, it seems plausible.
"Who knows."
Veronia snorted lightly. She wouldn’t ask Drudgeon about it, nor would she inquire over the Divine Beasts’ intelligence network. Unless she had gone mad, doing so would be akin to revealing a secret to the public.
