Chapter 1139: Chapter 532: Why Not Do It Yourself?

"... Sigh."

Fulingya sat hugging her knees on the heart of the Holy Sanctuary, her slender fingers unconsciously twirling a lock of light green hair.

Those usually serene emerald eyes now brimmed with confusion and struggle.

The breeze swept past, carrying the fragrance of flowers and grasses, but could not dispel the gloom in her heart.

Fulingya was very conflicted now.

On one hand, she genuinely didn’t know what kind of reward to give Herbert.

On the other hand, she found the advice given by Winter Goddess utterly unreliable.

She had pursued Winter Goddess Euphemine again for answers, but the answer remained the same.

"Fulingya, my dear child."

The lazily teasing voice of Winter Goddess Euphemine seemed to echo in her ears once more.

"A token truly belonging to ’you’, distinct from the Natural Pantheon, and satisfying for that Godslayer, is actually quite simple..."

At that moment, Euphemine’s deliberately drawn-out tone, with icy blue eyes sparkling with a light almost mischievous, confounded Fulingya.

"As the Tree Spirit Queen, do you not understand what the most ’precious’ gift of the Tree Spirits is..."

She understood, yes.

But such a thing... does it really hold any meaning?

She didn’t understand!

She was merely a young goddess who had been "born" for a millennium, entirely unaware of such things.

Since gaining self-awareness, Fulingya took on the heavy burden of the Natural Pantheon, living her life isolated in the Holy Sanctuary, away from mortal dust.

Her world consisted of pure natural laws, divine responsibilities, and the devout followers and familiars within the Sanctuary.

The love, hate, desires, and entanglements of the mortal realm were like a faint mist to her, distant and elusive.

Throughout the years, this Forest Goddess had diligently executed her tasks, never considering her own desires.

Therefore, regarding the method of "reward" spoken by the Winter Goddess, she felt hesitant.

She unwittingly began to search her inherited memories for knowledge related to Tree Spirits, attempting to find clues to understand this matter.

Tree Spirit.

This is a unique demon symbiotic with trees, also known as forest consolers, beautiful beings with woody textured skin and emerald eyes, whose laughter flows like clear spring.

They are the forest’s elves, embodiments of vitality and tranquility.

As a "spirit-type" demon, Tree Spirits, along with Water Spirits and Flower Spirits, hold similar positions and continue vitality from others.

In a sense, an Enchanting Demon is also a peculiar "spirit-type" demon.

Most Tree Spirits are gentle by nature, differing from the predatory nature of Water Spirits and Enchanting Demons, and the way they draw energy is more akin to an exchange.

A Tree Spirit’s absorption does not forcefully strip away; rather, through skin contact, usually a hug or gentle caress on the cheek, they guide others into a deep state of relaxation.

During this process, they will feel warmth and delight like spring breeze, rather than the drowning pain or wild sensory of Enchanting Demons’ dreams.

Tree Spirits typically draw only a slight amount of energy, far less than the other’s natural recovery rate, and rarely endanger life.

During this process, Tree Spirits gain energy from the other, and concurrently, provide power of life sufficient to heal some minor injuries.

Of course, there are some inherently wicked Tree Spirits who enjoy sucking prey into dry husks; these do exist.

But in most instances, they favor mutual benefit as kind creatures.

However, Tree Spirits’ existence, in the mundane view, often gains another coloration.

In the eyes of some, Tree Spirits are exceedingly precious in another sense.

They possess longevity akin to ancient trees, good looks, and not insignificant power.

For true powerhouses, they are practically the perfect plaything.

Yet because Tree Spirits cannot survive long apart from their symbiotic trees, slave merchants mostly cannot capture and trade them as common prey.

But regrettably, when enough profit serves as motivation, those greedy folks find any means to achieve their aims.

They either treat Tree Spirits as a curious short-term consumable, uncaring of their life and death, taking them away from the symbiotic trees, letting them wither day by day.

Or they may furnish special arrays to delay this period, thus enhancing selling value.

Even worse, they may chop off a section of their parasitic tree to simulate the environment when the tree was alive.

Some truly powerful individuals may even transplant Tree Spirits’ symbiotic trees into their domiciles, turning them into portable, permanent companions.

And speaking of such matters, one cannot ignore a rather "legendary" profession.

Druid.

Everyone knows that factions abound within the Druid Order, such as Beast Sect, Plant Sect, Beast Companion Sect, Beast Partner Sect, Plant Companion Sect, Plant Partner Sect, and so on.

Given they internally have an odd "Beast Companion Sect" often engaging in super-friendly relations with animals, likewise, they bear a corresponding Plant Companion Sect branch.

Yes, those Druids regularly indulge in some super-friendly interactions with various plants.

Among them, Tree Spirits are particularly favored by them, serving as classic examples of their sect’s philosophy.
