Diary of a Criminal Investigator
Chapter 995: I Am the Murderer
The three people stood at the entrance of the community and looked at each other.
After the case analysis meeting the day before yesterday, everyone followed different leads to investigate.
Wang Song was responsible for investigating Wang Dezhi’s important interpersonal relationships, starting from that aspect.
In the past two days, Wang Song’s team has reviewed no fewer than hundreds of people. Through understanding the staff at Wang Dezhi’s transport company, they learned a lot about his interpersonal relationships.
They discovered companies with competitive relationships with Wang Dezhi and conducted visits and investigations on some key personnel.
However, there were no major breakthroughs.
In Wang Song’s investigation, the relationship between Zhao Xue and Wang Dezhi was vague. Some knew about it, but others were completely unaware.
Wang Song’s team spent considerable effort to find Zhao Xue, and today they found her address.
The process of finding the address was also interesting. The house in the community was originally purchased by Wang Dezhi, but it was transferred to Zhao Xue after staying under his name for less than a year.
Although the transfer records indicated that it was a sale and relevant taxes were paid, during the investigation, it was found that all taxes were paid by Wang Dezhi himself, meaning he covered the taxes for the house. Moreover, there was no large monetary transaction between Wang Dezhi and Zhao Xue.
In other words, the house should have been a gift from Wang Dezhi to Zhao Xue.
A married man gifting a house to a young woman? The nature of their relationship is self-evident.
Song Mingguang traced Zhao Xue through the investigation of a BMW car.
Originally, this line of investigation by Song Mingguang was challenging because it’s very difficult to trace vehicles based on a tire print at the crime scene, even if it’s a special model, considering it was manufactured three years ago, making tracking tough.
No one knows if the suspect is local, whether his car is local, or if the car might be a foreign second-hand vehicle resold again in the provincial capital. It’s uncertain.
Fortunately, this car had appeared under Wang Dezhi’s name before.
Although the car was not a local first-hand car and had flowed from elsewhere as a second-hand vehicle, its presence under Wang Dezhi’s name was the biggest suspicion and evidence.
Later, Wang Dezhi transferred the car to Zhao Xue’s name, providing a basis for Song Mingguang to find this place.
As for Lu Chuan, he found Zhao Xue’s fingerprint in Wang Dezhi’s Mercedes car, matched it in the system, and thus located this place.
Since all three leads pointed to Zhao Xue, the likelihood that she was involved in Wang Dezhi’s murder case increases.
After sharing their investigation results, they basically confirmed Zhao Xue’s significant suspicion of committing the crime.
They called the property management staff intending to coax the door open and execute the arrest.
Seeing so many police officers arrive, the property management would undoubtedly cooperate fully.
Half an hour later, the preparation work was complete.
A property staff member knocked on Zhao Xue’s door.
“Who is it?”
A female voice came from inside the room.
“Hello, we’re from the property company here to inspect the gas meter today.”
“Ok, I’ll be right there!”
Less than a minute later, the door opened, and the property staff immediately retreated, allowing the criminal police officers hiding on both sides to move forward to arrest the woman at the door!
“Zhao Xue?”
“Ah? You…”
“Take her away!”
The process went smoothly, Zhao Xue offered no resistance and was directly subdued.
Some wonder if there’s any difference in arresting a male or female offender?
Actually, there is no difference. Facing murderers, whether male or female, is equally dangerous.
Although it looks chaotic in film and TV during arrests, officers rushing in to subdue the suspect is not the reality.
In truth, there’s a strict standard procedure during police arrest operations.
Each arrest operation is planned and reviewed multiple times before execution.
The arrest plan includes stringent standards for examining the arrest environment, identifying risk points, handling potential emergencies, etc.
During an operation, every member has a specific role, for example, who goes in to arrest, handcuff, interrogate, or stand at various positions outside the door, ensuring each person’s target and responsibility.
Once inside the room, they conduct environmental assessments, and during the arrest, carry out their predefined tasks.
This applies to planned arrests, but some actions are spontaneous, like when a police officer unexpectedly recognizes a wanted criminal on the street, resulting in an immediate confrontation without a prepared plan, risking their life to apprehend the suspect.
Nevertheless, ensuring the safety of participating officers while apprehending suspects is always paramount.
This is also an extremely important evaluation criterion for related leadership.
Even if the suspect is caught and the case solved, if an officer is injured or killed when it could have been avoided, the personnel responsible for planning and executing the arrest face severe disciplinary actions.
The principle “life comes first” must always be upheld as the primary rule and directive.
After being arrested, Zhao Xue was taken directly to the provincial Criminal Investigation Team interrogation room for questioning.
Song Mingguang and his team also found the BMW car that Wang Dezhi gave Zhao Xue in the community’s underground garage.
Lu Chuan then began a detailed examination of this car, discovering some blood traces in the trunk.
Meanwhile, Wang Song and his team found some residual blood stains in the room’s freezer.
Upon making these discoveries, Wang Song immediately called Li Donglin to report the basic situation.
“It’s not yet confirmed if this room is the primary crime scene, but we found some blood stains in the freezer, and Lu Chuan found blood in the trunk of the BMW that Wang Dezhi gave to Zhao Xue. That car should be the one Zhao Xue used to transport the body. We will report more specific findings after the interrogation.”
