Chapter 1026: Chapter 483: Easy to Go from Frugality to Luxury, Hard to Go from Luxury to Frugality (First Update, Please Vote for Monthly Tickets!)

This housing complex is really quite large.

Lawrence Winters muttered to himself as he followed the red brick path to the door of the house and rang the doorbell.

The host opened the door, and upon seeing Lawrence Winters, he laughed, "I was just about to call you to come over for dinner, and here you are."

Lawrence Winters laughed and said, "I came over because I was hungry."

The two chatted and laughed as they walked into the house.

The decor of this house is also quite beautiful, but Lawrence Winters had just seen Quentin Parker’s house that rivaled the Louvre Palace; this one didn’t impress him much.

It’s difficult to go from luxury to simplicity. Once you’ve seen genuinely good things, you’re no longer deceived by imitations.

Therefore, broadening one’s outlook is a lifelong benefit for everyone.

Because this improvement is permanent. Even if you don’t reach that level later, once you’ve seen the clouds of the Himalayas, no other place’s clouds will captivate you.

This demeanor made the host think she was quite profound, with a calm mindset, unaffected by external joys or personal grief, indeed giving off a bit of a Celestial Path Sect expert vibe.

The Heavenly Master’s voice suddenly came from upstairs. Seeing Lawrence Winters, he joyfully shouted, "Lawrence, you’re here! I was just going to call you! When did you arrive?"

Lawrence Winters didn’t answer directly but asked back, "When did you arrive?"

"Just arrived. A five-hour flight, I even took a nap. I just got off the plane, settled the room, and luggage," the Daoist said, showing his phone to her, "See, I was just about to call you."

Lawrence Winters smiled and nodded, "Thank you, Daoist."

The group walked into the dining room together.

The dining room was spacious, with half-open stained glass windows showing the green lawn and a pine tree in the backyard.

A few squirrels were bouncing around the grass holding pine cones, no telling where they planned to take them.

Lawrence Winters noticed someone in the dining room she didn’t recognize, so likely the local guide.

Sure enough, the host introduced, "This is Jason, our hired local guide."

Jason, like James from DC, was a local native of Chinese descent.

He was lively and cheerful, bursting into exaggerated laughter upon seeing Lawrence Winters, "This lady is beautiful! May I have the honor of getting this lady’s phone number?"

Lawrence Winters didn’t respond, instead shifting the topic with a smile, "What’s on the menu today? Jason, you’re a local? Could you introduce some local delicacies?"

With just a few words, she diverted Jason’s attention.

Jason started enthusiastically introducing local food, mainly meat pies, roasted fish fillets, and braised veal.

Poor offerings that were frustratingly inadequate.

Lawrence Winters held back repeatedly, resisting the urge to ask, "Do you have venison?"

Locals viewed deer as human companions, not for eating.

The dining room was filled with foods Jason liked to eat, cheese pizza, beef burgers, fried fish, and fries, rugged American fare far inferior to the considerate James in DC.

Lawrence Winters disliked cheese pizza and beef burgers. She only ate a fried fish stick before standing up and saying, "It’s dark, I should head back. You all enjoy."

The host quickly said, "Lawrence, would you like Jason to take you back?"

"No need, I know the way. Mr. Quentin’s house is over there on the hill; see the streetlights?" Lawrence pointed in the direction.

Everyone gathered at the window, seeing the house that rivaled the Louvre Palace now lit up, no longer a dark shadow.

Jason exclaimed in surprise, "That house finally rented out? I wonder who has that kind of money..."

Mr. Zhuge’s expression became uneasy, he silently turned his gaze away, shakily pulled a bottle of pills from his pocket, and popped one into his mouth.

Jason, very lively, noticed and exclaimed, "Mr. Zhuge, are you sick? Should I take you for urgent care?"

Mr. Zhuge fought the urge to vomit blood and casually said, "I’m fine, just a bit of air sickness today, taking some melatonin, I’ll be fine with some sleep later."

The Daoist empathized and said, "Mr. Zhuge really had a tough time on this trip, much worse than last time to DC."

"Last time was just over an hour’s flight, now it’s five hours with turbulence, how can you compare?" The full Daoist defended Mr. Zhuge, rebutting the Daoist.

Lawrence Winters patted the Daoist’s hand, motioning him to stop talking.

The Daoist still had to stay with these two, offending them wouldn’t be wise.

The Daoist took the hint, smiled and nodded, escorting her out of the mansion.

On the red brick road, the Daoist softly said, "Living alone, you must be careful."

They didn’t know Kenneth Osborne had joined too, assuming Lawrence was staying alone in the palace-like house.

Lawrence, with a half-faint smile, said, "This is a society of law and order, I’m not afraid."

She patted the Daoist’s shoulder and walked back alone.

The housing complex had many streetlights, emitting a gentle white glow, like cloaked in gauzy fabric, bright yet not glaring.

She walked alone on the pedestrian path of the complex, looking at her phone while walking.

Suddenly, in the corner of her eye appeared a pair of fashionable white tennis shoes, the brand she liked from Ralph Lauren, instantly recognizable.

Someone silently walked opposite her, yet she hadn’t noticed.

Lawrence quickly stopped, looked up, and saw a very elegant and poised young woman, with long hair, two braids draped down from her forehead, and a string of small jasmine flowers tucked at her temples.

Her aura was noble, her gaze cool, and her distant mountain brows softened her demeanor a bit, her eyes glistening under the streetlamp, her nose tall and straight.

Pale skin, dark hair, mature and alluring beauty.

It was Miss Tang.

She looked at Lawrence for a moment, blinked her long lashes, dense like two rows of small fans, naturally creating mascara and eyeshadow effects.

She asked with a smile, "Are you the new Heavenly Master?"

Lawrence Winters: "..."
