Chapter 2035 Magical Theme Park Part 1

Chapter 2035: Chapter 2035 Magical Theme Park Part 1

Kat —

Ramor had a few more questions, and required Kat to finish her forms first, but eventually he let them all go. With Lin disappearing at some point the three of them were free to do whatever they wanted. Hedera was already yawning and quite clearly planning to go take a rest. Kat on the other hand… Lily, are you awake enough for a bit of a date?

[Of course! Though, what made you think of it?]

Apparently there’s a carnival around and I was interested in seeing what sort of things they do with magic and whatnot. I was sure you’d enjoy it as well. I wasn’t thinking about it before, but the glitter potions reminded me of it.

[Hmm, sounds fun. As long as you’re okay with me taking some naps if we’re there for a while.]

It should be fine. I’ve had my rest for now so I’m not too worried about sleeping through the day. Honestly, looking around that potion setup wasn’t too hard. Getting in and keeping track of all my water droplets was worse.

[Alright sounds good. Though… assuming we’re going on this proper date would I be in human form?]

That’s the idea yea. I was thinking of trying to hide my demonic features with my water abilities while walking around. It might not work, but I don’t care too much if it doesn’t. Plus, I’m not too worried about you being seen anymore. Lin clearly knows and I think Ramor suspects something… considering he didn’t even blink at the fact you also wrote a report.

[Fuck! I didn’t even think about that. There was enough forms for all of us and I didn’t even think about it that way. Of course he suspects something. A normal familiar isn’t going to fill out any forms no matter how smart they are.]

Yeah, so I was assuming that secret is basically out in the open for the important people who are paying attention. It means that there’s no reason not to go and enjoy ourselves a bit if you’re up for it.

[Yeah of course. Let’s go!]

“Hedera, are you alright to return to our accommodations yourself? Lily and I were thinking of heading off on a date,” said Kat.

“Oh? I thought you were keeping that a secret?” asked Hedera.

“Lily filled out the forms,” answered Kat. Hedera tilted her head, considering that for a few moments before understanding the implications and nodded at the pair.

“Alright, have fun on your date then. I’m probably just going to crash. For all that keeping a lookout is just sitting in place it takes a lot of mental effort to do properly and I’m no slacker. I swear I can feel my brain leaking out of my ears…” mumbled Hedera.

Kat gave their elf friend a grin as she turned off down the street. Waving goodbye, Kat turned down to head in the opposite direction towards the carnival. It was a permanent fixture, but not one that was constantly opened. From what she could tell, this one tended to be open for three days a week before taking a week off, mostly for maintenance but also to give the workers there some time to relax.

After ducking down an alleyway to allow for Lily to transform, they started approaching the theme park. The line for the entering the park was non-existent. There was two ticket booths setup but only one had anyone in it, and that was still more than enough. Kat and Lily got there just as another group stepped through into the park so they knew it was operating and not entirely empty, but it was still strange to see.

They walked up to the ticket counter where the board looking staff member handed them a pamphlet detailing where they could go, as well as scanning them… for something? Whatever it was the attendant didn’t find any issues and just waved them on through. Kat realised that perhaps they should’ve acquired some money… woops. The park was free so she hadn’t been too worried but the food probably wasn’t going to be.

Regardless, Kat decided they’d just enjoy what they could. If they needed to pay for food Kat could volunteer to help out with some things in exchange for dinner… or would it technically be lunch consider it would be around that time? Kat shook her head as they approached the main map of the park with Lily. “So where do you want to go first Lily?”

Lily looked over her options. “Well… I’m sort of torn. The carousel seems interesting more in a ’I wonder how they do it’ sort of way because I know how they work back home. Then there’s the haunted house, because I feel they could do some really cool stuff with magic for that one… but I’m sort of worried that it’s just going to be a bunch of illusions so you won’t really see anything…”

Kat winced. “Yeah that’s… actually pretty likely. It’d stop people hacking the heads off the fake monsters too. Though it might mean there’s more holes in the walls and stuff…”

Lily nodded along, “Exactly. I don’t expect we’d attack anything instinctively. We’re used to being careful at home… but the illusions are a big worry. There’s also the ’trick room’ which I’d guess is sort of like the mirrors and stuff, but might also just be more illusions. The ’Gravity Room’ stands out as interesting. But we can fly so maybe not TOO interesting you know?”

Kat nodded along, “Well we’ve got time so we can start wherever.”

“Let’s go to the gravity room then. It’s just over there I think,” announced Lily as she pointed to a building nearby. It was a deep purple with wavy fixtures stuck to the outside to make it seem like the building was all wobbly. It wasn’t the best construction though, and you could see the main building underneath it in plenty of places. At least the walk was short.

When they arrived, there was an employee at the main door, and once again. No line. “Welcome to the Gravity Room. We’ve got a few options for you. Would you like to go to the ’Float’ room or the ’Hover’ room?”

“What’s the difference?” asked Kat.

“The float room has a basic enchantment on it to make you lighter but doesn’t cancel out weight entirely. The floor is lined with trampolines as well. The Hover room is actually a series of rooms that are all connected via tunnels and there is, essentially, no gravity in the room,” explained the employee.

Kat and Lily shared a look before announcing, “Hover room please,”

The employee nodded and reached behind himself to grab something only to pause. “Um… hmm… park policy dictates I give you one of these,” he pulls a chunky watch thing with an orb set into it. “They can cancel the gravity affect on you allowing you to leave the room safely… but I see one of you at least has wings… implying you can fly?” Kat nodded. “Right… I’m not sure if policy applies to you then.”

“Why is that?” asked Kat.

“Well, park policy states that we aren’t to allow anyone into the hover room without them being able to avoid being trapped in the middle of the room. Originally, in the old version we had to tie everyone down with ropes, but we moved away from that,” explained the employee.

“Well, we can both fly so…” Kat shrugged. “I don’t mind either way.”

“Hmm… whatever then, if you can fly it’s not my problem. Just head inside and take a left,” said the employee with a shrug.

The moved in through the double doors and into a small corridor. It wasn’t properly wide enough for two people to move side by side. Still, they knew where to go. The inside of the building was a dark black with little lights everywhere mimicking stars. It was also notably cool. Not cold of course, but cooler then it should be. Probably more enchantments to keep the temperature down.

They found their way to the right door without trouble. The big glowing sign over the entrance certainly helped with that once they rounded the corner. Entering the room, they immediately felt the like of gravity. Even just taking a step into the room had you floating away a bit and Lily laughed at Kat.

She’d been a step behind, so had a full view of Kat’s hair floating upwards and away from her… with her outfit doing something of the same. Kat had her tail shift to wrap around the bottom of her kimono to keep everything in place with a wince. “Apparently I should’ve brought pants…”

“Probably…” admitted Lily. “Shocked the employee didn’t mention it. Especially when I can hear a couple of kids giggling a few rooms over. Wouldn’t want to scar any children.”

Kat huffed, intentionally puffing her cheeks up majorly. “I’m sure it wouldn’t be permanently scarring. Why, if they’re anything like you… perhaps they might learn something about themselves.”

Now it was Lily’s turn to pout as she hopped into the room after her girlfriend. It did look fun after all.
