Chapter 2036 Magical Theme Park Part 2

Chapter 2036: Chapter 2036 Magical Theme Park Part 2

Kat —

Kat and Lily giggled as they dashed through the various tunnels and holes that were set up in the room. They’d mutually agreed to regulate their speed down to Rank 1 as best they could, and Kat wasn’t using her wings at all… her tail was fair game though. There had been some back and forth about that, but Lily had a tail as well. *Even if it’s not as magnificent as mine!* Cheered Kat as her tail reached out to poke Lily in the side, claiming her ’victory’ for the moment.

[Ah but my tail is FLUFFY so can you really say yours is better?]

As per the rules they made up at the start of their play session, Lily froze in place for about five seconds before taking off after Kat, grinning all the way. They were able to catch up to each other pretty reliably with the limit on their speed. The tunnels were secretly death traps because if you could see the exit you could simply watch both and catch someone off guard when the barrelled out of it.

Oh, and there was no magic allowed, or at least. Not currently. There was the temptation for it, and Lily had stretched her shadow hands out more than once during the chase, but she’d been able to stop herself from actually swinging around with them. That wasn’t the point. The only exception they’d both agreed on for magic and abilities was if they were going to crash into the other park goers.

*Perhaps my tail isn’t objectively better… but perhaps not! I can use mine to hug you so that’s gotta be worth like a billion points.*

The Hover room wasn’t all that popular really. Not when you considered how big it was. Or perhaps it was more a symptom of the park’s low guest count today. There were four other groups. One was a set of teenagers, three strong that were just hiding in a corner. They weren’t really ’playing’ in the room so much as they were using it to relax. They were also likely here to watch the second group. It was a gaggle of kids eight strong. They were the largest group in the place, and six of the kids shared a resemblance with the teens. Though, Kat was only certain of four of them being siblings.

The next group was a pair that seemed to be on a date like Kat and Lily. The other pair seemed to be more casual about things. They were holed up in one of the deeper rooms and seemed to be dancing with each other, performing all sorts of crazy moves that were only possible due to the lack of gravity. The two guys seemed really happy with each other, and were quite skilled.

When Kat had come charging through the area earlier, Lily hot on her heels, they’d managed to incorporate the chase into their dance. Moving around the two of them, and occasionally pretending to gasp and be surprised by the frantic pace of Kat or Lily blowing past them. It was something to smile about until Kat snuck out of the room. Lily had thought they were a bit too cute together and gotten distracted. Not majorly so, but enough for Kat to halt her momentum with her tail and slip through a tunnel without that momentary pause leading to her capture.

The final group… best not to talk about them really. They might be kicked out of the park. All that wet paint all over the place… Kat wasn’t going to tattle but it was probably against the rules.

[Bah, just because my tail isn’t as long. I’d bet my tail is far more comfortable to fall asleep hugging.]

Eventually, Kat and Lily tired of running around the arena. They’d made three or four full circuits around the place. It was a little hard to tell because it wasn’t like they’d taken a straight path, instead they’d doubled back plenty of times and took winding paths whenever possible that made it harder to predict where you were going to jump to. Ping ponging off the walls was the best way to move with no wings involved after all. Lily had more experience running on all fours, but Kat’s tail was far stronger, longer, and more dexterous so she had that extra limb to help out.

That didn’t stop Lily tackling her with a laugh, slamming into Kat’s side. Kat took the impact and spun them around, spinning to ensure that she was facing the wall as they smacked into it. “Hahaha, seems you really got me this time. What happened to just a tag?” asked Kat.

“I think I want to move on. This is fun, and maybe we can come back to it after seeing the rest of the park, but I don’t want to miss anything cool because we spent all morning here,” explained Lily through her laughter.

Kat nodded along, pushing herself off the wall with her tail and flying them to the exit. It honestly felt odd stepping back outside, and into normal gravity. Suddenly clothes had a proper weight to them again and felt like they were sitting on them both rather than just being pulled along the for the ride. Kat also realised, she really hadn’t been paying much attention to the fact her tail wasn’t keeping her kimono down.

Kat gave a deadpan look to her girlfriend. “What? It’s not like you can see much. Trust me, when I was behind you I gave it a good go, but I think I might’ve gotten flashed once at most. Turns out, constantly bouncing from side to side does a good job at hiding everything important.”

Kat sighed, “Fair enough. It doesn’t really bother me I don’t think, and we sped past most people so quickly it was never going to matter… but it is a touch embarrassing to realise I didn’t even think about it.”

The pair walked out of the area hand in hand, moving towards the next attraction. It was the ’flying carriage’ ride, also known as the carousel. Lily was interested to see because it was all, theoretically at least, possible with the level of technology they’d shown. Perhaps they’d need an enchantment to spin it instead of a motor but crankshafts were quite possible to make. Lily was also interested to know if they used wheels to keep the carousel spinning, if it was all simply hanging in the around the central pole, or if they used some other method.

Sadly for Lily’s investigative wishes, there was no real way to tell simply from looking at the thing. Worse, there was a weight and height limit on the ride. One Kat exceeded. [Wait what?]

*I’m too heavy for the ride, I’m nearly certain.*

[Oh…]

The weight limited seemed to be more for people that wanted to come in adventuring gear, or perhaps to stop kids piling on the same carriage. In this case though, Kat simply weighed too much with her denser than usual bones and muscles. “Still, you can have a go if you want,” said Kat gesturing towards the carousel.

“It wouldn’t be the same,” said Lily with a sigh. “And I can hear it has at least some mechanical parts so I know it’s not entirely magic. Perhaps something else will show off the enchantments a bit more,”

Kat grinned and poked her girlfriend in the side. “What the magical anti-gravity room wasn’t enough for you?” Lily huffed but didn’t say anything in response as the pair nodded to the ride operator

The ride next to it was a ’roller coaster’ but not one that took any sort of imagination to work out the mechanics of. It was very much a kiddy coaster with a fake carriage body that simply followed some tracks around in a circle. It was elevated off the ground and had a few hills… but Kat was taller then them so it wasn’t exactly thrilling. There was also no motor in any of the cars so it was clearly just an enchantment that kept the wheels moving.

Lily did lean over to see if she could see the enchantments but like the carousel it seemed to all be hidden away. Not a surprise since that was quite standard practice but it did make her research obsessed girlfriend pout a bit. Kat gave Lily a quick kiss on the cheek and pulled her along to the next ride. At least it was something that you wouldn’t find on earth.

It was a bunch of asteroid looking metal cages. They were floating on top of a platform and spinning in all sorts of ways. You could hear a few people screaming inside, and a few more giggling. Based on the fact they weren’t all spinning the same speed, and that the empty ones all seemed to be moving in the same ’random’ directions while the occupied ones seemed to be moving more smoothly, Kat was guessing you could control them somehow. Time to get in line and see how much fun it was…
