Chapter 6211: Soul of the Machine, Ideal Land (79)

Shiller was utterly enlightened. The Shuggoths’ appearance is just a mass of black slime, mixed with many golden eyes. If the golden eyes are a characteristic of Yog, then isn’t the black slime Iron Man’s cell computer? In other words, the Shuggoths are the offspring of Iron Man and Yog.

Although it sounds astonishing, it makes a lot of sense. Previously, they had already discovered that Iron Man and Yog were acquainted, even traveling together and spending time together; it seems that procreation is not out of the question.

This brings us to the reproductive mechanisms of Outer Gods. They usually reproduce offspring in two ways. One way is like Nya, who doesn’t combine with anything, simply shedding parts of themselves, creating clone after clone, each essentially themselves, so they can’t really be considered descendants.

The other is through mating. Surprisingly, the Outer Gods indeed reproduce with other races, and there is basically no reproductive isolation, with various mating methods. For example, Yog reproducing the Dunwich Horror siblings is quite noteworthy.

The original text records that in a dream, the woman from Dunwich dreamed of Yog-Sothoth and then discovered she was pregnant. She gave birth to two brothers, one seemingly normal, while the other was purely a monster, followed by a series of stories.

This proves two things. First, Yog can mate. Second, Yog has the intention to reproduce.

Outer Gods mating with other races is more like spiritual mating, or simply transmitting power through mental transmission, igniting the flame of life. In this sense, reproduction becomes simple. As long as the other party has a spirit capable of accepting power, they can reproduce Yog’s offspring.

From this perspective, the things Shiller and the others saw inside the cube became meaningful. It might solve a mystery they’ve had all along, which is, what exactly Iron Man meant to do with these biological computers.

Initially, they analyzed that this thing should be used by Iron Man to analyze cosmic structures. After all, computers excel at calculations, so Iron Man must have built this thing to calculate something.

But now, it seems they underestimated Tony Stark’s genius imagination. That cube is actually an egg, whether it’s mycelium or slime, it’s equivalent to egg fluid, used to incubate the offspring of Outer Gods.

This explains why Iron Man had to use his own shell. This was something that had puzzled the Cat Squad. Biological cell computers are indeed powerful, but they don’t necessarily have to use one’s own cells. Tearing oneself apart like that couldn’t have been just to scare fellow races seeking him out, could it?

To Shiller, it might not seem like a big deal, but judging by Peter’s attitude before, we can see how much of a mental shock this was to Main Universe Iron Man’s close friends. Shiller dared not imagine what the reaction would be if Central Universe Iron Man turned himself into this.

So actually, whether it’s blood cell computers or neural network computers, neither was meant for calculations, but for breeding.

No wonder Peter had mentioned before; while biological cell computers are excellent, extracting information from them is quite difficult. While neural network computers can connect directly to the brain and extract information effortlessly, what about blood cell computers?

The entire cube didn’t have an entrance, let alone device ports, making it actually look less like an interactive machine. At that time, they thought Iron Man had his ways, and assumed he used his body structure for ease of extraction.

But now it appears Iron Man was never prepared to let anything access from the outside; he knew something would break through from the inside, like a hatched egg that doesn’t need an external interface, the new life breaking the shell after hatching.

Shiller sighed; how could he not have thought of that? It’s all because Iron Man made that cube into a square. If it were egg-shaped, wouldn’t it be obvious at a glance?

But, thinking again, if Tony Stark indeed had to lay an egg someday, he would certainly lay a square one. Because that’s unique, fitting his often-cited fascination with Mechanical Engineering. That’s Iron Man.

The more Shiller thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed. Compared to some supercomputer, mycelium and slime are indeed more like egg fluid. They were overthinking it this time.

Perhaps also because Central Universe Iron Man had never showcased any biological talent, leading Shiller to always think Iron Man should only understand steel. But perhaps, in Main Universe Iron Man’s view, in such a universe, there’s no need to play with steel, without ethical or moral limitations, directly conducting a wave of hybrid breeding, much like Morgan cultivating fruit flies…

Upon this thought, Shiller suddenly froze. Did Little Superman mention Morgan’s fruit flies before?

Shiller couldn’t help but bury his head in his paws. He couldn’t understand how Little Superman suddenly knew about Morgan and the fruit flies. When Iron Man’s clone returned, Little Superman suffered from spiritual pollution, inexplicably gaining some scientific knowledge in his head.

Because the spiritual pollution from Outer Gods inherently gives you a wealth of knowledge, filling your mind to bursting. Shiller felt that Little Superman might have experienced the same, except Iron Man’s mastered knowledge was all human scientific technology, and during the infusion of knowledge, it was like a cramming education, making Little Superman acquire an engineering degree out of thin air.

But actually, that might just be the plan of the Main Universe Iron Man. He stuffed all those plans and knowledge straight into Little Superman’s brain, which included breeding like hybrid fruit flies with the Outer God, and that might be the main point, hence Little Superman blurted out something about Morgan.

As for why it was sent to Little Superman, Shiller thought it might have been sent by mistake. Iron Man surely intended to send the plans to him, but something went wrong in the process, resulting in it going to Little Superman’s brain. Little Superman was totally clueless and didn’t look closely, which is why everyone in the Primitive Forest was confused about what Iron Man was doing.

Shiller took a long sigh. He said, with Iron Man being an authority in biology in the Prime Universe, why bother taking a detour using computational methods to analyze this cosmos when biology is clearly more effective here.

Unexpectedly, they didn’t plan to take a detour at all, not only did they not plan a detour, they went straight to the point. Since the Outer God is the creator of the rules of the Cthulhu Universe, breeding offspring with the Outer God is akin to studying the rules, isn’t it?

Just saying how Iron Man had the leisure to tell Yog stories. He wasn’t telling stories, but tricking people into having kids. But Yog might not necessarily be fooled, these two were probably hitting it off and colluding together.

This is why biology is the discipline most in need of experimental ethics. Without ethical constraints, these scientists dare to hybrid anything, Iron Man coming to the Cthulhu Mythos Universe was a wise choice. No ethical constraints, with a bunch of bizarre creatures, just haven’t come to Earth, or else the offspring of Star’s Favored Clan and Flying Hydra would be flying all over the sky.

Shiller sighed in his heart. Although he knew long ago about Iron Man mistakenly entering the Cthulhu Mythos Universe, he was also a victim. But sometimes it really feels like a twisted sense of evil humans bullying naive Outer Gods.

Then Shiller thought about what Reck meant—Iron Man asked him to guard the South Pole, to prevent Nya from entering. So how did Iron Man get entangled with Nya?

Professor Dale voiced his doubt: “Why is your kin fighting with this terrifying existence?”

“That’s a long story,” Reck sighed deeply.

“No rush, take your time,” Professor Dale relaxed his tone. He already believed most of Reck’s words, after all, such a bizarre story wouldn’t have been made up.

“The Ancient One is a rather unique race, their physical qualities have already reached the pinnacle of the Material World, which gives them a strong exploration ability, they can even be considered the civilization with the broadest territory in the entire Material Universe. Although they’ve declined now, at their peak they could indeed be called a Cosmic Empire.”

“And because the regions they explored were very vast, they found a special structure in the cosmos, they called it the Great White Space, but my other kin referred to it as the ‘Eternal White Hole.’ It’s a very special spatial structure.”

“You can imagine the shape of the Eternal White Hole as a giant octopus, the head part is an almost infinitely vast eternal space, without boundaries, time can normally pass, and nothing exhausts there. More importantly, under its head are countless tentacles, which can reach nearly every corner of the cosmos, allowing for items and life to travel through this channel, transmission doesn’t take time and can arrive instantly.”

Professor Dale’s eyes widened, obviously this had completely surpassed his understanding. Previously, he saw the Holy Artifact of the Ancient One Clan on the mural, the Great White Space, as something akin to a Teleportation Portal, at most with storage space, but didn’t expect it to be so powerful.

To think, nearly infinite space and matter not exhausting is already very unreasonable, not to mention being able to transmit items instantly without consumption, this already defies human cognitive rules. With this thing, any race can become a Cosmic Empire.

“Such a powerful thing is of course not liked only by the Ancient One,” Reck sighed again. “Nyarlathotep is a being very keen on spreading evil, he’s long been frustrated that his clone can’t quickly travel between different corners of the Material Universe, he naturally wants the Eternal White Hole too.”

Professor Dale and the Cat Squad suddenly realized. Especially Shiller, he understood Nya the best. Nya is the most eager among the Outer Gods to preach to wise beings, preaching efficiency is very important to him, otherwise he wouldn’t have been quick to make Yog build houses.

But the houses built by Yog only allow clones to report duties faster, it doesn’t solve the slow travel in the Material World. Many of his clones can fly and teleport but are still restricted by some limits of the Material World, far from being free. This Great White Space is simply tailor-made for his church, he will certainly find ways to get it.

But on the other hand, wouldn’t Iron Man need such a thing? Even if it can’t be taken back to his own universe, just using it in this universe, the infinite space is the best testing ground, allowing easy access to resources, isn’t it the perfect laboratory for creating ultimate weapons?

Shiller suddenly realized, no wonder the two of them would fight. This battle might have started in the Material World and gradually spread deep into the Stars.

Iron Man kept prank calling Misisha to have him dismantle houses, this wasn’t any experimental mistake, it was to bury Nya’s clone inside, this whole drama was stirred up over a bit of jealousy.
