Chapter 277: Chapter 152: Parting the Clouds to Clear the Sky, Splitting the Mountain to Forge the Cosmos

Chi Ming understood this as well. However, seeing the situation, he wasn’t discouraged. Instead, his spirits lifted, and he said, "If that’s the case, then I’ll just leave Yin Mountain and fight him myself."

Shao Ying raised an eyebrow, understanding at once. He and Chi Ming were true disciples from the same generation and had known each other for a long time. He’d long been aware of Chi Ming’s personality—arrogant on the surface, but cautious underneath. No wonder Chi Ming had insisted on luring Xuzhuang here; he had probably already prepared to leave Yin Mountain to face him.

This way, Chi Ming could satisfy his desire to clash with this so-called Mystic Sect Daoist. Even if he couldn’t win, he would still have Yin Mountain as a retreat. He was essentially using Shao Ying to create the perfect battlefield for himself.

At this thought, Shao Ying couldn’t help but smile. "Have it your way," he said.

But before his voice had faded, he saw Chi Ming’s expression change slightly. "What’s he doing?" Chi Ming asked.

Shao Ying’s heart skipped a beat. He looked up to see Xuzhuang floating upward, rising until he was level with Yin Mountain. Suddenly, with a shake of his shoulder, a sound like a great RUMBLE echoed—not of thunder, but of the Celestial River bursting its banks. A torrent of watery, world-spanning radiance roared downward, sweeping over the mountain’s surface and pouring mightily through its holes and fissures, surging into the Yin Mountain Venerable.

"What Divine Technique is this?" Chi Ming’s eyes narrowed. Just by observing the might of this watery radiance, he knew it was no ordinary ability. ’Since when did the Tai Su Orthodox Sect have such a formidable Water Element Dao Skill?’

Shao Ying snorted. "You think this is enough to deal with the Yin Mountain Venerable?" he said coldly. He formed a Magic Formula, instantly sealing the fissures that led to their location, but his expression immediately changed.

In his perception, the Yin Mountain Venerable was wailing in agony, its entire body trembling slightly as it was swept by the watery radiance.

Shao Ying had left countless demons from within Yin Mountain lingering in the fissures that served as its vents. They were meant to be an ambush, but they were unexpectedly countered by Xuzhuang’s Water Divine Light.

These demons were both individuals and the tentacles of the Yin Mountain Venerable. Refined by the methods of the Demon Sect, they couldn’t be so easily suppressed or swept away by Xuzhuang’s Water Divine Light. However, his Water Divine Light had been infused with Starlight Divine Water, which specialized in harming the Divine Soul Thought. This instantly damaged the chaotic demonic consciousness of the Yin Mountain Venerable.

Although Shao Ying was unaware of this detail, he could guess as much. His expression was grim. He changed the Magic Formula, withdrawing the demons and revealing Yin Mountain’s original rock face.

With this, Xuzhuang’s Water Divine Light was finally rendered ineffective. A cold smile appeared on Shao Ying’s face as he muttered to himself, ’A clever move. Now that you’ve suppressed the Yin Mountain Venerable’s demons, I’d like to see if you dare enter.’

At this point, Shao Ying had completely forgotten about Chi Ming, his interest in dueling Xuzhuang now piqued. He formed a Magic Formula, waiting only for Xuzhuang to follow the trail of the Water Divine Light and charge into the Yin Mountain Venerable. Then, he would immediately switch his Divine Technique and teach him a lesson.

Xuzhuang, however, had no such intention. He had only released the Water Divine Light to probe the Yin Mountain Venerable’s strengths and weaknesses. Harming its demonic consciousness was just a pleasant surprise. In fact, Shao Ying hiding the demons was the opposite of what he wanted.

’But the art of magical combat is all about adapting to the situation. How could there be a fixed strategy that works from start to finish? Seeing this, he immediately devised another approach.’

’Since his opponent had set up this Yin Mountain, thinking he held the advantage of terrain, then he would just have to split Yin Mountain wide open!’

Xuzhuang changed his Magic Formula, and the Dao Skill transformed accordingly. The True Light of the Water Element swirled into a series of vortices, which at their center transformed into a wash of green light.

Even Zhou Jun, under Xuzhuang’s guidance, had been able to comprehend the generative cycle of the Five Elements Primordial Divine Light, so Xuzhuang could naturally do the same. After transforming the Water Divine Light into the Wood Element Divine Light, he let out another great shout!

RUMBLE!

Under the immense pressure of Xuzhuang’s Magical Power, the True Light of the Wood Element acted like vegetation bursting from stone. It tore through the rock, surged into every tiny fissure, and flooded the entire body of the Yin Mountain Venerable. Then it swelled! And swelled again! The endless power of growth instantly threatened to burst the Yin Mountain Venerable from within!

"ROAR!"

Torn apart by Xuzhuang’s Wood Element Divine Light, the Yin Mountain Venerable finally let out a chaotic roar, a cacophony like ten thousand different species screaming at once. The sound shook the heavens and the earth, piercing the ears and rattling the soul. Yet Xuzhuang remained unmoved. Seeing his efforts were effective, he doubled down, pouring his abyssal, ocean-like Magical Power into the Wood Element Divine Light.

Faced with such terrifying expansion and destruction, any ordinary mountain—even a majestic peak ten thousand zhang high—would have been shattered by Xuzhuang. But the Yin Mountain Venerable was, after all, a unique type of demon. Though it roared continuously, it managed to hold on. Its body just continued to swell, and in moments, it had been stretched taller by more than a thousand zhang.

"Impossible!" Shao Ying frantically formed one Magic Formula after another but was still unable to suppress Xuzhuang’s True Light of the Wood Element. His expression finally changed drastically. ’It’s a universal principle that wood conquers earth, but the Yin Mountain Venerable is one of the six great Venerable Demons of the Demon Intent Sect! How can it be defeated so easily?’

’There was only one possibility: Xuzhuang’s Magical Power had completely overwhelmed the Yin Mountain Venerable, allowing him to use the Wood Element Divine Light to forcibly tear it apart!’

’But the Yin Mountain Venerable was a being refined from countless fused demons! Besides its terrifying ability to devour spiritual energy, its own Magical Power was more than ten times greater than his own. Even if its demonic consciousness was chaotic and it couldn’t focus its power, to overwhelm the Yin Mountain Venerable... what kind of horrifying Magical Power would that take?’

Seeing Shao Ying’s pale face and the verdant green light that now seeped from the very walls of the mountain’s core, Chi Ming finally realized something was wrong. "Quick, open the passage!" he said grimly. "I’ll go outside the Yin Mountain Venerable and interrupt his Dao Skill."

"It’s too late," Shao Ying said, his face ashen.

Just a moment ago, he had clearly sensed that Xuzhuang had reached his limit. Yet in the next instant, he seemed to have fully recovered, producing boundless Magical Power once more. As one power waned and the other waxed, the tearing force of the divine light surged even stronger, finally ripping a shocking fissure across the body of the Yin Mountain Venerable.

Seeing this, Xuzhuang let out a long cry. The Gangyun rose into the sky, and from it emerged a plume of pure white energy. It descended toward the fissure on the Yin Mountain Venerable. The roiling Smoke Mist looked ethereal, yet it possessed the power to shake the heavens and earth as it struck viciously at the mountain’s core!

The earth quaked and the mountains shook! The Yin Mountain Venerable let out another heaven-shaking roar, but it finally had no strength left to resist and was utterly torn asunder by the Wood Element Divine Light.

A trickle of scarlet blood flowed from Shao Ying’s seven orifices. The destruction of the Yin Mountain Venerable had instantly backlashed onto him. His body trembled violently as his gaze fell on Chi Ming. "Stop him!" he snarled. "Don’t let him ruin the sect’s grand plan!"

Chi Ming’s expression changed. He saw the dark clouds part as faint daylight shone down into the mountain’s core. Taking a deep breath, he shot upward, transforming into a plume of roiling black smoke that rushed toward the sky.

Seeing this, a trace of composure returned to Shao Ying’s face. He pinched a yellow paper talisman and chanted, "Junior Sister, I can only hold on for one more breath!" With a flick of his wrist, the talisman burst into bright flames and shot away through the earth.

At last, Shao Ying had a final moment to spare. He looked up and saw the Daoist, silhouetted against the sky, his face obscured. A sudden, bloody grin split his face. He let the blood flow over his lips and teeth, seemingly unaware as it dripped from his chin, and began to laugh manically. "The coming of Chengxuan, a once-in-a-thousand-years event... so this is the Mystic Sect Daoist!"
