Chapter 270: Chapter 150: Demon Sect Saint Child, Divine Wood Treasure Seed

A Human-faced Red Bat shot through the air and arrived in the mountains. It hovered low for a moment before transforming into a crude-looking Daoist with a sharp chin and long eyebrows. He dropped to the ground, kneeling at the feet of a red-haired man wearing an open fur-lined robe that exposed his powerful physique. Respectfully, he said, "Greetings, Chi Ming Saint Child."

The Chi Ming Saint Child gave a faint acknowledgment and asked, "What is it?"

The Daoist transformed from the red bat kept his head bowed to the ground and said cautiously, "Elder Chang and Lady Zhu have fallen."

"Hm?" The Chi Ming Saint Child frowned. "Where did they die?"

The Daoist dared not delay and quickly replied, "According to the plan, Elder Chang and Lady Zhu should have been attacking Venerable Ju Mang’s Divine Wood Dojo. But this humble one has already gone to confirm—the Divine Wood Dojo is completely unharmed."

"Oh? Ju Mang." At this moment, not far away, a handsome Daoist who had been gazing at the mountains as if admiring the scenery suddenly turned his head. "Is that the Venerable Ju Mang who has some connection to the Tai Su Sect?"

He turned and walked over, a faint, almost imperceptible smile on his face. "Chi Ming, those two Tai Su Disciples who escaped from you the other day—they were invited by Ju Mang, weren’t they? Could it be that they killed Elder Chang and Lady Zhu?"

Chi Ming said expressionlessly, "I injured those two. It’s impossible for them to have recovered in such a short time."

"In that case, Elder Chang and Lady Zhu should have been more than enough to take down the Divine Wood Dojo," the handsome Daoist said with a smile. "Unless the Divine Wood Dojo had other reinforcements."

Upon hearing this, Chi Ming raised an eyebrow. He asked abruptly, "Did they send out any messages before they perished?"

The Daoist prostrated on the ground quickly replied, "They did not."

A hint of interest suddenly appeared in Chi Ming’s blood-red pupils. "To be able to prevent them from even sending a message... Could it be a True Disciple of the Tai Su Sect?"

"The Yue Family... Could it be Yue Junlan?"

The handsome Daoist said with a laugh, "Wouldn’t we find out by sending someone to investigate?"

Chi Ming nodded. Although he was very interested in fighting a Tai Su True Disciple, he was no brute. He called to the Daoist on the ground, "Immediately send people to the Divine Wood Dojo. Use any means necessary, but you must find out that person’s identity."

"Hey, not so fast," the handsome Daoist called out. "Sending your subordinate cultivators would just be sending them to their deaths. It’s pointless."

"Oh?" Chi Ming asked, "Shao Ying, what method do you have in mind?"

Shao Ying didn’t answer. He just shook his wide sleeve, and a cloth bag fell out, rolling on the ground. The mouth of the bag loosened, and a middle-aged Daoist rolled out like a gourd, a look of terror still on his face.

Shao Ying said with a beaming smile, "If I were you, I’d hold off on that Escape Technique. You’ve finally found a sliver of a chance to live; it would be rather unwise to do something that would get you killed."

The middle-aged Daoist’s expression froze. He swallowed hard and seemed to ponder for a moment before relaxing the Magic Formula he had been secretly forming. He brought his hands out of his sleeves, cupped them, and said, "What instructions... does this fellow Daoist have for me?"

Shao Ying smiled faintly. "This Venerable One needs you to go investigate something for me. If you do it well, you may keep your life."

The middle-aged Daoist’s eyes flickered. He asked, "If that is the case, can you also release my Daoist partner and my disciple?"

Hearing this, Chi Ming suddenly scoffed. Shao Ying, however, showed no anger, merely saying in a gentle voice, "The Daoist arts of your lineage are perfectly suited for this Venerable One to use in refining my techniques. That, I cannot allow."

The middle-aged Daoist’s face twitched. But Shao Ying seemed disinclined to waste any more words. He abruptly pointed a finger, placing a restrictive spell on the man. "Go. You have one day to bring back the information. Otherwise, the spell will activate, and you will be turned to ash."

Outside the Divine Wood Dojo, the newcomer could be none other than Xuzhuang.

Now that his Five Elements Origin Combination Art had started showing results, it was not difficult for him to refine the Great Sun True Flame into his Fire Divine Light. In a flash, he incinerated the gloomy, ghostly clouds and the Demon Cultivators within them, turning them to ash. Xuzhuang had originally wanted to leave one alive for questioning, but unfortunately, the female cultivator didn’t know what was good for her. Even after being captured, she still tried to use a Daoist art.

The Demon Sect’s methods were treacherous, after all. To prevent her from actually escaping, Xuzhuang had to be decisive. With a single slash of his sword, he lopped off her head and even obliterated her Nascent Soul completely.

By now, Xuzhuang had completely refined away the Thousand Yin Ghost Clouds. With no more gloomy clouds to obscure their vision and senses, the four people inside and outside the Divine Wood Dojo stared, dumbfounded and in disbelief, at this display of overwhelming power.

Yue Zilin was still hovering in mid-air, with no time to spare for the beautiful Daoist Nun’s corpse. Gazing at Xuzhuang’s face, he suddenly seemed to snap out of a dream. He flew forward, bowed, and said, "I am Yue Zilin. Greetings, Senior Brother Xu. Thank you, Senior Brother, for your assistance."

"Yue Zilin?" Given Xuzhuang’s current reputation, he wasn’t surprised that a fellow sect member recognized him. He nodded and replied, "Junior Brother, you’re too kind. It was merely a small effort."

Having witnessed Xuzhuang’s Divine Techniques, Yue Zilin didn’t think his nonchalance was an act. He just gave a wry smile and asked, "I wonder, was Senior Brother just passing through, or...?"

Xuzhuang said, "I learned from Senior Brother Jun Yang that there were traces of Demon Cultivators here. I came to investigate the Demon Sect’s plot, but I didn’t expect to resolve a crisis by chance."

"I see." Yue Zilin’s spirits lifted. "Since Senior Brother came to investigate the Demon Sect’s plot, why not come with me into the Divine Wood Dojo to discuss matters?"

"That was my intention." Xuzhuang gave a slight nod and followed Yue Zilin, flying up toward the great tree.

Venerable Ju Mang and the others in the dojo had seen everything clearly. They had already opened the formation’s gate. After welcoming Xuzhuang inside, the Yue Family disciple with a face as pale as gold paper was the first to speak. "So it is Senior Brother Xu in person. Yuezixun greets you, Senior Brother."
