Chapter 1156: Chapter 1156: Just Treat It as Respecting the Elder

"Li Xiaoyun finally stopped making breakfast for you?" Zhao Guoxian said gleefully.

Zhao Dingli returned with a cold laugh: "Ha! What are you thinking?"

"Of course, Xiaoyun wants to continue making it for me," Zhao Dingli said, "but I feel bad for her. Besides, since I’m her boyfriend, how could I let her keep doing it? I have to make sure she doesn’t have to lift a finger. I’ve already told her that from now on, I’ll handle breakfast."

Zhao Guoxian: "..."

He could sense the heavy sense of pride in those words.

Especially in the phrase "since I’m her boyfriend," Zhao Dingli stressed each word clearly.

As if afraid that Zhao Guoxian didn’t understand what he meant.

Zhao Guoxian wasn’t really in the mood to play along.

Ever since going to watch Ye Fei’s competition, Zhao Guoxian noticed that Zhao Dingli’s attitude towards Li Xiaoyun was different.

From that moment, Zhao Guoxian had a premonition that the two would end up together.

So now that he heard Zhao Dingli say it, Zhao Guoxian wasn’t surprised at all.

He was even a bit too lazy to respond.

But thinking it over, Zhao Dingli, at his age, it’s not easy for him either.

Letting Zhao Dingli be happy is a way of respecting one’s elders.

So, with the virtue of respecting the elder, Zhao Guoxian played along: "Wow, Fourth Uncle, you finally won her over, huh? So, when is she becoming my Fourth Aunt?"

"Soon," Zhao Dingli almost automatically wanted to use the same words he’d just used to tease Rui Changhuai, to tease Zhao Guoxian.

But luckily, he stopped himself just in time.

He remembered that he still needed Zhao Guoxian to organize a recipe for him.

It wouldn’t be good if he annoyed Zhao Guoxian and he refused to do it.

He could ask Ye Fei for help.

But Ye Fei is busy with classes; after Li Xiaoyun asks her, if he asks too, wouldn’t Zhao Gushen be mad at him?

So, it’s better to ask Zhao Guoxian.

"Hey, about the recipe, just start with the simplest, most basic ones for me. I’ll start practicing with those and slowly increase the difficulty," Zhao Dingli said.

"Alright," Zhao Guoxian nodded.

That wasn’t difficult.

"Of course, while it has to be basic and simple, it can’t lack variety," Zhao Dingli reminded, "There shouldn’t be only a few options every day, or repeating every two or three days; that would bore Xiaoyun."

Zhao Guoxian: "..."

"Alright," Zhao Guoxian nodded.

In his mind, he was sarcastic about how Zhao Dingli has no cooking skills but has high expectations.

Wanting it simple but with variety too.

If it were so easy, would people in breakfast shops need to work so hard?

After settling things with Zhao Guoxian, Zhao Dingli didn’t talk much more with him.

He was busy.

Not with work, but with rushing to share the good news with his family.

He didn’t want Zhao Guoxian to spill the beans first, depriving him of the joy of sharing good news himself, and get scolded by the elders too.

Zhao Dingli asked in their family group: "Is everyone here?"

But nobody responded.

Except for happy news like him getting out of singlehood, nobody, especially the elders, wanted to bother with him.

There was no way; Zhao Dingli had hoped someone would ask him what’s up, but nobody played along.

Zhao Dingli had to tag everyone one by one.

He’s not the group admin, so he can’t tag everyone at once.

Tagging each one is a bit tedious, but Zhao Dingli was happy to do it.

Even tagging people felt full of joy.

As a result, the screen was full of the people he tagged.

Old Lady: "..."

Third Elder: "What are you doing? Tagging everyone early in the morning instead of working properly?"

Old Man: "What’s going on?"

Old Lady: "Unless it’s about getting out of singlehood, don’t tag me."

Even though nobody could hear in the group chat, Zhao Dingli still cleared his throat in his office and sent: "Dad, Second Uncle, Second Aunt, I’m officially with Xiaoyun now. We’re dating, and it won’t be long before she’ll be calling you Dad, Second Uncle, and Second Aunt too."

The Old Lady thought she was seeing things and, carefully adjusting her reading glasses, looked at Zhao Dingli’s message again, then turned to ask the Old Man: "Look, did I read it wrong? Dingli said he’s with Xiaoyun."

The Old Man was looking at it too.

Hearing the Old Lady’s question, he turned and said: "Either you read it right, or we’re both seeing things."

The Old Lady made a noise of disbelief; how could they both be seeing things?

Then it really was true.

"Well, Dingli finally got it done," the Old Lady sighed, "You know, when he was young, he was quite ambitious, doing everything with a bang, before anyone else could react. The competitors had barely left the starting line, and he already succeeded. With that efficiency, anyone who saw it would say he was damn good."

"How come now that he’s older, it gets so difficult to do things," the Old Lady complained, "It’s been so long, and he only just managed to win over Xiaoyun."

The Old Man nodded, agreeing with the Old Lady’s words.

Then he said: "But it’s fine. At least he’s out of singlehood now. Although it took a while, it’s better than nothing, right?"

"That’s true," the Old Lady mumbled.

Then she said in the group chat to Zhao Dingli: "What’s there to brag about being 37 and just getting out of singlehood! Go on, have your little moment of joy. But later, you better treat Xiaoyun well and don’t upset her. Otherwise, if Xiaoyun dumps you, you really won’t find anyone else."

"Xiaoyun is still young; she’s already at a disadvantage being with you. If you piss her off and she breaks up with you, there are plenty of younger guys out there for her," the Old Lady said, "You should have a sense of crisis and not get too happy too soon."

Zhao Dingli: "..."

He was genuinely thrilled.

But after hearing what the Old Lady said, Zhao Dingli suddenly felt nervous.

His excitement was dampened a bit, replaced by a strong sense of crisis.

The Old Lady made a lot of sense.

At his age, he finally got a girlfriend, and she’s so young.

He really must be careful not to drive her away.

Otherwise, who would he cry to?

He wasn’t one of those conceited types who believed men could date much younger women even at an older age.

Who thought women over 30 weren’t worthy of dating peers and even thought finding an older man was a luxury.

Let alone expecting to find someone with good qualities.

And the standard for someone with good qualities is that a woman with good qualities just wanting to find someone of equivalent status would be disdainfully remarked by many men: "At her age, how dare she have such high standards."

Whenever Zhao Dingli saw such remarks, if they were in person, he’d definitely retort.

If he saw such remarks online, he’d still regard them with disdain.

So he felt Li Xiaoyun was already at quite a loss.
