Daddy, Come Home For Dinner!
Chapter 1154: Can’t Fall Behind
Chapter 1154: Chapter 1154: Can’t Fall Behind
Zhao Dingli felt that he couldn’t fall behind.
He couldn’t possibly let Li Xiaoyun cook for him after getting married, could he?
He’s not like Zhao Gushen, who shamelessly lets Ye Fei cook for him.
He definitely couldn’t do something as outrageous as Zhao Gushen.
So, let’s start with the simplest breakfast.
From now on, breakfast would be his responsibility.
And Li Xiaoyun could sleep a little longer in the morning.
The reason he let Li Xiaoyun make breakfast before was because they weren’t officially together.
Li Xiaoyun living here always felt like she was troubling him.
So she tried various ways to give back.
Zhao Dingli couldn’t let Li Xiaoyun feel troubled.
If he didn’t agree, and Li Xiaoyun insisted on giving back, what if she did something even more troublesome for herself?
So, Zhao Dingli simply agreed to something simpler.
Letting Li Xiaoyun make breakfast so she could stay here more at ease.
But now it’s different; Li Xiaoyun is officially his girlfriend.
Li Xiaoyun can now stay here with complete peace of mind.
So naturally, Zhao Dingli took the opportunity to take over the breakfast duty.
Of course, if Li Xiaoyun wanted to make soup to nourish him, he would gladly accept it.
These gestures were full of Li Xiaoyun’s love for him, which he certainly couldn’t refuse.
Since it was his first time preparing breakfast, Zhao Dingli, to be on the safe side, made the simplest fried eggs, bread, and coffee.
He even thoughtfully swapped his coffee for milk.
To avoid Li Xiaoyun scolding him.
"These are the most basic things; they shouldn’t taste bad," Zhao Dingli said. "I didn’t add salt to the fried eggs. You can add salt or soy sauce as you like."
"Okay." Li Xiaoyun added a little soy sauce to the fried eggs.
The soy sauce had a slight sweetness.
After being absorbed by the crispy edges of the fried egg, it tasted even more fragrant.
Li Xiaoyun liked soft-boiled eggs.
So Zhao Dingli only fried one side for her.
The cooking was just right.
The back was crispy golden, the front was soft and white, with the egg yolk soft and jiggly in the middle, like the sun.
Li Xiaoyun used a spoon to scoop the yolk and eat it.
The creamy yolk had a unique fragrant richness.
Those who liked it found it delicious, while those who didn’t found it fishy.
But Li Xiaoyun could only taste the rich, smooth flavor.
"What you made is so delicious," Li Xiaoyun said contentedly. "Except on weekends when I go home, and my mom makes food for me, this is the first time on a weekday that I wake up to a ready warm breakfast the moment I get up."
Perhaps because they just got together, Zhao Dingli was making an extra effort.
Hearing this, Zhao Dingli was overjoyed and felt he had done an excellent job.
It was very useful!
"I’ll be responsible for breakfast from now on," Zhao Dingli said.
Li Xiaoyun didn’t expect Zhao Dingli really intended to take over breakfast.
"Wasn’t I the one who made it before?" Li Xiaoyun smiled.
"Get some more sleep in the morning. If breakfast is simple, I think I can handle it," Zhao Dingli said. "Before, it was to make sure you felt comfortable living here, so I agreed to let you make breakfast for me. Otherwise, how could I have let you do it?"
"Now that you can live here comfortably, I’ll take care of breakfast from now on," Zhao Dingli said with a smile.
Li Xiaoyun finally understood what Ye Fei meant when she said Zhao Dingli was reliable.
He genuinely planned to let her do nothing.
Li Xiaoyun couldn’t help but marvel; Zhao Dingli had been cared for since he was a child and didn’t need to do a thing.
Yet he never had the mindset that cooking and cleaning were strictly women’s work.
And when he took care of her, it wasn’t about having someone else do it, but about doing it himself.
Even this small gesture is something many men can’t do.
Some men have little ability but big egos.
"Is that alright?" Li Xiaoyun asked with a smile.
"Why wouldn’t it be?" Zhao Dingli said. "This morning, for safety’s sake, I made it simple. Although it’s not particularly lavish, it’s at least edible."
"I did want to make it better, but I was afraid it would be too challenging for me. If I didn’t cook it well, we’d end up leaving with empty stomachs," Zhao Dingli said. "I’ll have Gu Xian teach me a few tricks later. I’ll start honing my skills with breakfast; I’m sure I can perfect my cooking."
It sounded to Li Xiaoyun like Zhao Dingli’s goal wasn’t limited to just breakfast?
Li Xiaoyun had to ask.
"Of course, if possible, I want to handle regular meals too," Zhao Dingli said. "I’d make them for you."
Li Xiaoyun felt like she struck gold.
Zhao Dingli was just too wonderful!
It’s not about how much he does or how well he does it.
It’s about the thoughtfulness he puts into it, which is invaluable.
"Then what should I do?" Li Xiaoyun realized, wouldn’t that leave her with nothing to do?
The household chores were managed by a cleaner who came regularly, so she didn’t need to worry about them.
If Zhao Dingli handles even the meals, wouldn’t she become idle?
"You’ll have more time at home to do things you’re interested in," Zhao Dingli said. "Don’t you like building Lego? We can plan to set aside a room for you to display them."
"I’ve seen some creative setups by players — putting Lego in frames to hang on the wall, or inside transparent coffee tables. Some even put them in fish tanks, which is quite interesting," Zhao Dingli said. "We can come up with some fun ways to display them too."
"You already work hard enough as it is; surely you shouldn’t have to come home and work more, right?" Zhao Dingli said, matter-of-factly. "After a long day, you should come home to relax and do what you love."
Li Xiaoyun was amazed.
She worked all day outside, and so did Zhao Dingli.
What a fantastic man!
However, she couldn’t let Zhao Dingli do everything alone.
Ultimately, how things would be divided would depend on the circumstances and discussions between them.
Plus, it’s not like they needed to cook all the time.
Like before, they sometimes ordered dinner in.
So, it would all be situational based.
Li Xiaoyun decided not to dwell too much on this aspect.
Things will naturally work out as they come.
After finishing breakfast, they tidied up and headed out.
Zhao Dingli parked the car by the roadside in front of Li Xiaoyun’s company.
"I’ve pretty much settled things with the clients. These couple of days, I don’t need to join them for any activities. I just have to have someone take them to visit a few historical sites during the day. I don’t need to accompany them myself," Zhao Dingli said. "I’ll only have to entertain them when they’re about to leave. For the rest of these two days, I’ll still be able to pick you up on time like before."
