Chapter 1150: Chapter 1150: You Like Me Quite a Lot Too?

"No matter what, you never relax enough to be at ease with me," Zhao Dingli said, "You’ve drawn a line between us."

Li Xiaoyun thought to herself, that was only natural.

She and Zhao Dingli were worlds apart, practically living in different universes.

No need to consciously draw a line; she instinctively kept a distance from him.

"That’s why I thought to first let you drop some preconceived notions and defenses against me," Zhao Dingli continued.

"I don’t harbor any notions about you." Li Xiaoyun felt she was unjustly accused on this point.

"How could you not? You feel there’s a distance between us, that we’re from different worlds, and you think the Zhao Family isn’t approachable—these are your preconceived notions about me," Zhao Dingli said.

"But through my actions, I let you realize that all those initial assumptions were non-existent," Zhao Dingli said.

Zhao Dingli smiled slightly, "The topic has strayed."

"I like you, that’s why I did all this. I wouldn’t lie about liking you just to make you stay with me," Zhao Dingli looked earnestly at Li Xiaoyun.

"I’m not that noble to sacrifice my feelings for the sake of helping someone. Pretending to like someone when I don’t would mean compromising, and if I were capable of that, I wouldn’t be single at this age."

Zhao Dingli thought to himself the sacrifice was significant.

To make Li Xiaoyun believe him, he even admitted to her face that he was getting old.

This was something he had always been unwilling to admit!

Li Xiaoyun: "..."

"So, would you be my girlfriend?" Zhao Dingli asked.

"I..." Li Xiaoyun felt her mind explode, her brain turning blank, as her tongue seemed to tie itself in knots.

She was utterly unable to say anything.

She was stunned.

"How about I give you a night to consider?" Zhao Dingli asked.

Li Xiaoyun didn’t hear what Zhao Dingli said at all; she only saw his lips moving.

At this moment, Li Xiaoyun was thinking about how attractive his lips were.

Li Xiaoyun was completely unaware that during her brain-freezed daze, her mouth had unguardedly expressed this thought.

Zhao Dingli was momentarily shocked.

Unexpectedly, Li Xiaoyun appeared composed outwardly, yet she had such explosive thoughts within!

She had long been captivated by his charms.

Zhao Dingli couldn’t help but feel proud, smiling as he said, "Not only attractive, but quite tasty too. Want to try?"

"Ah?" Li Xiaoyun looked at Zhao Dingli in surprise. How could his words align with her inner thoughts?

How miraculous!

Seeing Li Xiaoyun’s puzzled expression, Zhao Dingli realized she hadn’t noted that she had voiced her thoughts.

How silly she is.

He should’ve seized the chance earlier when she was out of touch to ask if she liked him.

Maybe Li Xiaoyun would’ve blurted out her true feelings.

But observing Li Xiaoyun’s current reaction, Zhao Dingli grew more confident.

"You just said my lips are attractive," Zhao Dingli kindly explained.

Li Xiaoyun gasped. She—they—she, she even articulated such a thought?!

"So, can I interpret this as you quite like me too?" If she didn’t, why would she care about his lips’ attractiveness?

Li Xiaoyun’s face turned crimson. She’s a grown woman, yet embarrassingly shy about admitting her feelings.

It was truly too embarrassing.

"Just answer me, will you be my girlfriend?" Zhao Dingli asked again, "Yes or no?"

"One word, or two words, just answer me this way," Zhao Dingli said.

Li Xiaoyun hadn’t verbalized her response, but the corners of her mouth curved involuntarily.

She couldn’t comprehend her luck; it’s like waking up laughing from a dream.

Zhao Dingli understood Li Xiaoyun’s expression.

Before she uttered a word, Zhao Dingli knew her answer.

Yet, he wanted to hear Li Xiaoyun say it herself.

That’s when he would feel truly reassured.

Otherwise, it would seem as if he coaxed or tricked her into agreeing.

"Yes." Li Xiaoyun spoke clearly, finally feeling completely relaxed.

All along, it wasn’t just her one-sided wishes, not her secretly yearning.

It turns out Zhao Dingli liked her.

Though somewhat uncertain, she was just ordinary, not outstanding, with no particularly captivating traits.

There were many prettier, more excellent, prettier and more excellent, girls with unique and enticing qualities than her.

Walking on the street, she blended into the crowd, very inconspicuous.

Someone like her, why would Zhao Dingli like her?

Knowing Zhao Dingli liked her brought joy, yet it made her slightly insecure, lacking confidence, feeling that she indeed lacked any excellent qualities to attract Zhao Dingli.

Especially since Zhao Dingli stayed single for 37 years, clearly unwilling to settle, with very discerning tastes.

But such a discerning person, how did he lock his eyes on her?

However, Li Xiaoyun didn’t have time to dwell on these thoughts; as her mind briefly wandered, a shadow suddenly descended over her.

Li Xiaoyun only felt a darkening before her eyes, and the next second, her lips were covered by a layer of softness.

Warm, soft, and slightly moist.

Li Xiaoyun stiffened entirely, her heart pounding vigorously.

Zhao Dingli was kissing her!

Before her was Zhao Dingli’s magnified face.

They were so intimately close that she couldn’t discern his full features.

She could only see his eyes, half-closed, and the lashes surprisingly thicker than many girls’, yet not excessively long.

His nose was against her cheek, and she noticed her nose was similarly pressed against his face.

Imprinting onto the skin of his face.

As she inhaled, she could catch the scent of his aftershave.

Suddenly, Zhao Dingli covered her eyes with his hand.

The surroundings turned pitch-black, accentuating the sensation of his kiss more vividly.

She couldn’t feel anything else except his kiss.

Eventually, Zhao Dingli relaxed his hold slightly.

Yet, Li Xiaoyun remained embraced in his arms.

Somehow, she had been pushed to the wall by Zhao Dingli.

Li Xiaoyun’s face burned intensely, looking haplessly at Zhao Dingli.

She saw Zhao Dingli smiling at her.

His gaze, his smile, exuded indescribable warmth and tenderness.

"Have you arranged your luggage that you brought back?" Zhao Dingli asked.

"Umm?" Li Xiaoyun felt she had become more clueless than ever.

She was slow to process Zhao Dingli’s words before understanding.

"Yes." Li Xiaoyun replied softly; her mind wasn’t functioning enough to overthink, so she truthfully answered.

With nothing else to do in the evening, she naturally tidied her luggage.

Otherwise, remaining idle would only make her think of him incessantly.

"Then tidying a bit more, we’ll head back," Zhao Dingli said.
