Chapter 1147: Chapter 1147: I Was Too Shameless

He’s really nice.

"Tonight... what time do you think you’ll finish?" Li Xiaoyun asked again, "I’m not urging you, but do you have an approximate time?"

Zhao Dingli thought of her waiting for him at home and replied, "Not too late, it’ll be done before 10 o’clock."

He would certainly wrap it up within that time.

"I have to entertain clients these days, just handling this wrinkle. They’re leaving this Friday." Zhao Dingli said, "Things will be better next week."

Seeing this, Li Xiaoyun felt like crying.

She and Zhao Dingli would never have the chance to be as they were before.

After her evening shift, Li Xiaoyun returned to her own home.

The journey felt somewhat unfamiliar.

Back at home, alone, she couldn’t muster the energy to cook.

The reason why living alone, she liked ordering takeout, one being convenience; after tiring work, she was too lazy to fuss.

But another important reason was that buying ingredients to stir-fry a single dish felt too monotonous, and two dishes were really too much given her appetite.

And going to the market wasn’t feasible; being busy at work, and after work, there’s barely anything left.

The supermarket portions were indeed quite big.

And vegetables can’t be stored long.

They spoil within few days, and not being able to finish them is entirely wasteful.

Ordering takeout removes much of this hassle.

Takeout vendors are considerate and now offer single portions.

Li Xiaoyun lost interest in watching variety shows or movies in the evening.

She kept counting time.

Zhao Dingli only brought General Manager Wu tonight; he didn’t bring Fang Jiaying.

During the day, he forgot to address matters concerning Fang Jiaying.

As they were leaving the hotel in the evening, he asked General Manager Wu, "Is Fang Jiaying married?"

General Manager Wu was extremely surprised.

Has Zhao Dingli not yet wooed Li Xiaoyun, but is already planning to set the signal flags high?

To him, Fang Jiaying was no match for Li Xiaoyun.

In any case, in General Manager Wu’s opinion, he wasn’t fond of Fang Jiaying.

This woman had too many thoughts, a belly full of schemes.

He had no prejudice against competent working women.

But being good at one’s job and being cunning are two different things.

There are many accomplished and charming women who are very admirable.

But Fang Jiaying was not one of them.

"I really don’t know. She just transferred here, I don’t know much about her. One should ask the HR manager." General Manager Wu replied.

Seeing General Manager Wu’s expression, Zhao Dingli knew he was concocting some scenarios in his round, fat head.

"Enough with your assumptions." Zhao Dingli said irritably, "Keep a close watch on Fang Jiaying. If she makes mistakes at work, seize it and let her go."

Only then did General Manager Wu understand.

Zhao Dingli didn’t like her; he intended to put Fang Jiaying on the same track as Vice President Lu.

Though General Manager Wu disliked Fang Jiaying, he still had to say, Zhao Dingli seemed to have a vendetta against such women!

One by one, encountering them meant they couldn’t stay.

General Manager Wu suddenly felt a little sorry for them.

While they were maintaining a presence at the company, they were targeted by Zhao Dingli.

"Alright." General Manager Wu promptly agreed.

Thereafter, Zhao Dingli got into the car.

When Zhao Dingli returned home, he was surprised to find that there were no lights on, the place was pitch dark.

After entering, he first turned on the lights.

He glanced at the time, 11 o’clock, indeed late; perhaps Li Xiaoyun had already gone to bed.

Considering the late evening they had the previous night, feeling sleepy early today was normal.

Usually, Li Xiaoyun went to sleep around 11:30.

So thinking about it, Zhao Dingli didn’t feel anything odd.

Besides, although Li Xiaoyun had taken her things away,

all the usual placements were still there.

As long as Zhao Dingli didn’t look in Li Xiaoyun’s bedroom, there was no sign of anything being amiss.

Zhao Dingli naturally couldn’t just enter Li Xiaoyun’s bedroom.

Thinking Li Xiaoyun was asleep, Zhao Dingli treaded lightly.

But then, unexpectedly, his phone rang.

Taking it out to look, it was Li Xiaoyun calling.

Feeling puzzled, Zhao Dingli answered and directly asked, "Why are you calling when you’re just at home?"

"I went back home," Li Xiaoyun said, "my own home."

"Your parents’ place?" Zhao Dingli hadn’t considered Li Xiaoyun’s apartment.

"No, my apartment," Li Xiaoyun replied, "I feared telling you in person, you wouldn’t agree, and feared I’d be persuaded by you."

Might weak resolve makes one easy to persuade.

"But I’ve indeed stayed at your place for too long, disturbed you for too long. As good friends as we may be, men and women alike, it’s unreasonable to stay together for so long." Li Xiaoyun said.

"Moreover, the matter with Zheng Xuelin has passed for some time now. I’m now safe enough, he shouldn’t trouble me again." Li Xiaoyun added.

"So, I figured we both should return to our own lives." Li Xiaoyun said.

Her words left Zhao Dingli stunned.

In the morning everything was normal, and suddenly she moved out.

Zhao Dingli rarely found himself at a loss, his mind drawing blank.

"Why so suddenly? All of a sudden you want to move? Everything was fine in the morning, what made you decide to move?" Zhao Dingli asked hurriedly, "Did I do something wrong? Was it because I drank too much last night and upset you?"

"No." Li Xiaoyun promptly assured, "You never made me unhappy. It’s just, moving out is the right thing to do. I can’t live at your place forever. Staying as long as I have is very inappropriate. I’ve caused you so much trouble..."

Li Xiaoyun paused, saying, "It’s actually my shamelessness that kept me at your place for so long."

"I should have told you in person, yet I left without saying a word, just gave you a call. What I did was quite disrespectful." Li Xiaoyun tried to control herself, "Once the clients have gone and you’re available, I’ll invite you to dinner, formally thank you."

"I understand." Zhao Dingli suddenly said calmly.

Li Xiaoyun was also a bit taken aback.

Before, Zhao Dingli seemed very shocked, noticeably urgent.

Now as he suddenly become calm, Li Xiaoyun felt somewhat unsettled.

Although, she thought to herself she was quite wicked.

This was Zhao Dingli’s normal response, how else did she want Zhao Dingli to react?

"Okay." Li Xiaoyun forced a smile, "Did you make it home?"

"Yes." Zhao Dingli’s voice sounded a bit indifferent, "Came back to a pitch dark house, no lights waiting for me. Thought you were sleeping, so I treaded lightly. Hadn’t expected you were already gone."

Li Xiaoyun felt deeply uncomfortable hearing that.

She felt like she had become the bad guy.

"Did you just get home?" Li Xiaoyun asked again.

"Just arrived, your timing was just right." Zhao Dingli said somewhat self-mockingly.

She didn’t know how long she pondered.
