Chapter 750: Chapter 117: Ancient Grand Array (Part 2)

This way, while cultivating and descending, after approximately a stick of incense’s time, Ning Sujin had already delved nearly a thousand zhang into the abyss.

At that moment, her keen Divine Soul suddenly sensed something unusual.

From deeper below, countless minute fluctuations seemed to be rapidly approaching, carrying a strong life-force aura, perfectly harmonized with the frenzied Spiritual Qi around, as if they were entities coexisting with the Spiritual Qi.

Ning Sujin’s heart moved, she slowed down her descent, while also curbing part of the spirit absorption force, concentrating her spirit in alert.

Though she knew the abyssal Spiritual Qi would benefit her, she also understood the principle of “opportunity comes with danger,” daring not to be careless in the slightest.

Moments later, those minute fluctuations reached below her, and then, countless tiny insects, each the size of a rice grain and entirely red, emerged from the cracks in the rock wall.

These insects were completely transparent, with red airflow coursing through their bodies, of the same origin as the surrounding frenzied Spiritual Qi. Their wings were as thin as cicada wings, producing a faint “buzz” as they vibrated—these were the “Chiling insects,” fond of dwelling in environments filled with frenzied Spiritual Qi.

The Chiling insects themselves did not possess strong attack abilities, but they inherently love to feed on pure frenzied Spiritual Qi, and their numbers are overwhelmingly large. Once entangled by them, even if a cultivator can kill some, their seemingly endless swarms would exhaust the cultivator’s Magical Power, eventually turning them into their nourishment.

Now, the Chiling insects surrounding Ning Sujin numbered no less than tens of thousands, densely gathered into a red insect cloud, completely blocking her escape route.

What made Ning Sujin frown more was that the Chiling insects’ target was not the frenzied Spiritual Qi around but the Chaos Qi circulating her body!

She could clearly see the compound eyes of each Chiling insect glimmering with greedy light, firmly fixated on her body, wings fluttering faster, evidently ready to pounce at any moment.

“I see, my Chaos Qi originates from the same source as this frenzied Spiritual Qi, even purer than the Spiritual Qi; for them, it’s an even more enticing nourishment than the Spiritual Qi.” Ning Sujin instantly grasped the crux.

As soon as the words were out, the foremost batch of Chiling insects launched their attack, like a red tidal wave rushing towards her body.

Ning Sujin’s eyes focused, Chaos Qi surged instantaneously, condensing around her body into a shield thicker than before.

“Bang bang bang—”

A dense clanging sound erupted as tens of thousands of Chiling insects simultaneously collided with the Chaos Qi shield, making it shake violently, the surface rippling with fine waves.

Fortunately, the defensive capability of Chaos Qi was exceedingly strong, showing no signs of collapse even under such a concentrated impact.

Yet Ning Sujin knew, this was not a long-term solution.

The number of Chiling insects continued to rise, ceaselessly emerging from every crevice in the rock wall, swelling from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands in the blink of an eye, nearly blocking all space with the insect cloud.

With such vast numbers, even if each impact was weak, over time, her Chaos Qi would be slowly drained away.

“Can’t resist hard; need to find a way to tame them.” Ning Sujin quickly pondered her strategy.

She could feel that these Chiling insects only had pure greed for Chaos Qi without any malicious intent, perhaps this could be leveraged to tame them.

Having thought this, Ning Sujin attempted to slow the defensive rhythm of Chaos Qi, simultaneously releasing an extremely thin trace of Chaos Qi, seeping out from the shield, floating towards a Chiling insect ahead.

That Chiling insect, sensing the Chaos Qi, instantly abandoned its collision, fluttered its wings, rushed at the wisp of Chaos Qi, and devoured it in one gulp.

After swallowing the Chaos Qi, this Chiling insect’s body slightly glowed, its size seemed to enlarge a bit, the greedy gleam in its compound eyes intensifying, yet in the gaze it cast toward Ning Sujin, a hint of closeness emerged.

“It works!” Ning Sujin’s heart was delighted, she promptly increased the release of Chaos Qi, wisps of thin Chaos Qi continuously seeping out from the shield, diffusing amidst the insect cloud.

Hundreds of thousands of Chiling insects instantly went wild, no longer crashing into the shield but scrambling for the surrounding Chaos Qi, causing a momentary chaos.

Ning Sujin did not panic, instead activating the Profound Yuan Chaos Scripture, melding her Divine Sense into the Chaos Qi, conveying a gentle thought to all Chiling insects: “Submit to me, and Chaos Qi nourishment shall never fall short.”

This thought carried the pressure of a Nascent Soul-level Divine Soul, interspersed with the pure aura of Chaos Qi, instantly enveloping the entire insect cloud.

The Chiling insects in the midst of scrambling froze, halted their vying, turned to look at Ning Sujin, the greed in their compound eyes gradually replaced by awe.

They could clearly feel that the power of the human cultivator before them far exceeded theirs and could provide the Chaos Qi they craved most; submitting to her was undoubtedly the best choice for them.

After a moment, the foremost slightly larger Chiling insect took the lead, fluttering its wings to fly to Ning Sujin’s shield front, slightly lowering its head, adopting a posture of submission.

With this leading Chiling insect, the rest followed suit, gathering densely around the shield, lowering their heads, wings gently vibrating, emitting faint buzzing sounds, seemingly expressing submission.

Ning Sujin breathed a sigh of relief, slowly withdrawing the Chaos Qi shield, meanwhile releasing a strand of Chaos Qi to form an invisible thread, then using her Primordial Spirit to link to the largest Chiling insect.
