Chapter 2685 - 47th Floor

Yuan pondered Mei Feng’s question for a moment before responding, "Quite frankly, I don’t think there’s anything the military can do to help me train. Although I can grow stronger by absorbing the energy within Unknown Ores and Unknown Crystals, the amount I need to see any significant improvement is tremendous, and I doubt you’ll be able to provide me with unlimited resources."

Mei Feng quickly responded, "How many do you need? If it’s a few thousand—"

"A few million," Yuan immediately replied.

"..."

Mei Feng’s expression changed upon hearing such an astronomical number.

"Do you have any idea how long the city could survive on that many resources?"

Yuan merely shrugged.

"I don’t. But that’s exactly why I said the military wouldn’t be able to support me." He paused for a moment before continuing, "You know what you can do to help me, though?"

"What is it?"

"Allow me to enter level 2 Black Zone. Even better if it’s level 3."

Mei Feng replied with a frown, "You know we’re supposed to ensure your safety, not send you to your death, right? The military will never allow you to venture into such a dangerous place."

"Sorry, but this is non-negotiable," Yuan said resolutely. "If you want me to grow stronger quickly, you’ll have to let me go to places like that. In fact, the more dangerous the place, the faster I’ll improve. If you’re really that worried, you can send a few people to guard me, but honestly, you’d just be risking their lives for no reason."

"..."

After another moment of silence, Mei Feng spoke, "I’ll speak with the Supreme General and see what he has to say first."

"In the meantime, I would like to take some leave."

"Leave? What are you planning to do with it? And how long do you intend to be gone?" Mei Feng asked. After all, requesting leave was essentially the same as asking for a vacation.

"I’m going to spend it at Gaia’s Sanctum. I don’t know how long I’ll stay there, though, but it definitely won’t be very long."

"In that case, there’s no need for you to take leave, as every soldier is permitted to visit Gaia’s Sanctum as they please."

"Really? Why didn’t anybody tell me that? I would’ve gone much earlier if I knew."

"You never asked."

"..."

"Then I’ll go to Gaia’s Sanctum later today."

"There is something you should know before going," Mei Feng quickly said. "You are not allowed to use military techniques, such as Void Control, in Gaia’s Sanctum."

"I am aware."

"Good. Then try not to cause any trouble."

"I will. Also, about my credentials..."

"I’ll talk to the Supreme General about that, too."

"Alright."

Yuan left shortly after, but as he left, he encountered Mei Xiaoyun.

"You’re back? How was the assembly?" she asked.

"It was troublesome."

"Really?"

"Unfortunately, I cannot talk about it."

"I know."

"What have you been doing these days?" Yuan then asked.

"Same as usual. Training."

"In that case, do you want to visit Gaia’s Sanctum with me like before? I’m going there right now."

Mei Xiaoyun shook her head and said, "Since we cannot use Void Control there, I’ll continue training here."

"Then how about a few training sessions with me? I’m not in a hurry to leave, anyway."

"Are you sure?"

He nodded.

"Then I’ll bother you for a bit."

Thus, Yuan decided to delay his visit to Gaia’s Sanctum for a few days to train Mei Xiaoyun by taking her into the void.

Meanwhile, the Supreme General sat in a small room with another individual—a black-haired woman.

"And that’s the situation now. What do you think we should do with him?"

After a long moment of silence, the woman wondered aloud, "So he can survive the Void Hunter’s death touch because of his Perfected Heavenly Refinement, huh? Makes one wonder if he can survive an ordinary Void Specter’s touch, too."

"Before I express my thoughts, what do you think we should do, Supreme General?"

"Honestly, I have no clue." Supreme General Tian sighed. "This is an unprecedented situation, and that fellow even claims to be from another world."

"Another world..."

"Not only that, but he... he said that his goal was to meet Gaia."

"Oh?"

"Do you still think it’s a good idea to meet him? While I don’t believe he’s dangerous, there are simply too many questionable things surrounding his existence."

"As long as he’s not dangerous, I don’t see any reasons not to. That being said, I will still wait a little longer before I make a decision."

After a brief pause, she continued, "As for what we should do... let’s wait and see how the other cities react first. I doubt they’ll simply sit still and do nothing over the next two years. If possible, I’d rather not act too rashly and risk starting a war with another city."

"What about Sergeant Yuan?"

"Continue monitoring him for now, too."

"I understand."

A week later, Yuan finished his training with Mei Xiaoyun and set out for Gaia’s Sanctum.

The moment he arrived at Gaia’s Sanctum, Yuan entered Endless Assault and challenged the 46th floor.

"Foolish mortal..."

Of course, Yuan made short work of it, defeating it in a new personal-best time of 9 seconds.

<You have cleared the 46th Floor>

<You have received 250,000 Gaia Points as a reward>

<You have received Limitless as a reward>

<Your cultivation has reached First Level Sixth Ascension>

<You have received Eternal Essence>

<Proceed to the 47th floor?>

"Hm?"

Yuan was surprised when he received Eternal Essence as a reward for the first time, and it was not a small amount.

"That was about a trillion years’ worth of Eternal Essence!"

This unexpected reward made him even more motivated to climb the floors.

Yet, even with this increase in Eternal Essence, Yuan did not dare grow complacent and cautiously entered the 47th floor.

The moment he stepped inside, the scenery changed completely. The endless, empty arena was gone, replaced by a vast grassy landscape beneath a beautiful sky painted in shades of orange and red. Even the air carried a fresh scent, almost as if he were really out in the wilderness.

However, the peaceful atmosphere did not last long. A moment later, an overwhelming presence several times stronger than the entity on the 46th floor engulfed the entire area.
