Chapter 351: Chapter 187: Vermilion Bird Heaven-Burning Thunder, Tongxuan Middle Stage

Gu Yun hovered in the void, his deep eyes gazing at the bright red dot on the screen-like map before him.

‘Why is this blasted Jade Scroll only showing a reaction now?’

‘Perhaps it’s because I’m nearing the location of the Vermilion Bird Heaven-Burning Thunder in the Silent Extinction Abyss, or maybe a change has suddenly occurred after all this time…’

A few thoughts flashed through Gu Yun’s mind, but he quickly shook his head.

‘No point overthinking it. Since the Jade Scroll has shown a change, I’ll just go investigate myself.’

‘I’ll find out the truth once I get there!’

With this thought, Gu Yun took a gentle step forward, sending ripples spreading through the air. His body flickered like a bolt of lightning, instantly crossing thousands of miles toward the red dot’s location. It was as if he were traversing space itself, his speed utterly incredible.

…

In the Silent Extinction Abyss, peaks like sharp swords jutted from the earth, soaring high into the clouds and piercing the sky.

A forest of dark mountain peaks rose up, a stark contrast to the endless, crisscrossing ravines and chasms that scarred the land. The sky above was dim and silent, black as ink, with clouds as heavy as mountains. Vast swaths of oppressive darkness seemed on the verge of collapsing, inspiring a nameless dread!

Fierce winds howled between heaven and earth, rampaging like savage beasts and shrieking like ghosts.

BANG!!

In the distance, amongst a cluster of towering peaks, two figures clashed violently in the void. The sound of the shockwave rolled out in all directions, slamming against the steep cliffs and sending rubble cascading down.

“Bi Jiang, trying to take the Nine Nether Spirit Dark Grass for yourself,”

“is just a pipe dream!” Ji Li’s small eyes glinted with a frosty killing intent as he snarled, “If I hadn’t brought you here, would you have ever had the chance to get your hands on a treasure like the Nine Nether Spirit Dark Grass?”

“We agreed to split the treasure evenly before we came, but now you’ve betrayed me, trying to take it all for yourself! Bi Jiang, I’ll fucking kill you!”

But Bi Jiang, hovering in the void with his black robes whipping in the wind, his face grim and his eyes like a falcon’s, only snorted. “Hmph! Ji Li, cut the righteous act. You think I don’t know what kind of man you are?

“You kill for treasure and leave nothing but bones. You’re always backstabbing your brothers.

“All the brothers who’ve died at your hands can attest to that!

“And now a man like you dares to strut around in front of me? Pfft!

“I’ll be the one to kill you!”

The moment the words left his mouth, Bi Jiang’s eyes turned hard. He circulated his True Yuan and shot through the air, his body like a bolt of lightning tearing through space. Leaping directly above Ji Li, he spread his five fingers into a palm.

He condensed his Ten Thousand Waters True Essence and blasted it downward. A Palm Seal formed from roiling waves crushed the air, letting out a tsunami-like roar as it hurtled toward Ji Li with the momentum of a great sea!

Poised in mid-air, his brocade robes fluttering, the portly, small-eyed Ji Li gazed up at the vast Palm Seal of water. It was hundreds of feet wide, vast enough to blot out the sky as it bore down on him, yet he showed no fear. A flicker of killing intent crossed his eyes.

“Die!”

Ji Li’s bone-chilling voice seemed to make the very temperature of the air plummet.

Immediately, terrifying flames surged around him. The temperature for thousands of feet around soared as if he stood in a blazing furnace. His fingers blurred, forming a profound Seal.

“True Flame Technique!”

Within a radius of thousands of feet, the raging inferno instantly condensed into dozens of massive fireballs, each hundreds of feet wide. An instant later, the fireballs shot through the air like meteors, trailing brilliant flames as they hurtled toward the descending Ten Thousand Waters Palm Seal!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The searing fireballs slammed into the wave-like True Essence Palm Seal, triggering a terrifying explosion. The surrounding void shuddered violently, as if hit by a tsunami, and a storm of True Yuan swept through the sky.

Terrifying shockwaves blasted outward. The sharp, sword-like cliffs shattered and collapsed, crashing down and kicking up billowing clouds of dust and debris!

As the dozens of fireballs and the massive water-based True Essence Palm Seal intertwined in a blinding flash of light, Ji Li’s eyes, narrowed to slits, glinted coldly. He had seemingly found an opening. His portly body moved like an agile dragon as he stepped into the air, instantly blinking behind Bi Jiang with incredible speed.

“Die!”

Killing intent shot from his eyes. He clenched his fist, gathering his Fiery Flaming True Essence, and sent it whistling through the air, aimed squarely at Bi Jiang’s spine.

‘The fish took the bait, just as I expected.’ A sinister smile touched Bi Jiang’s lips. He had intentionally revealed that opening to lure Ji Li in close.

‘It was the only way to pull off the switch and kill him in a single blow!’

SHHCK!

Bi Jiang seemed to freeze, standing perfectly still as he awaited Ji Li’s flaming fist. The next instant, Ji Li’s fist, wreathed in flames, punched straight through Bi Jiang’s body.

‘I got him!’ A hint of triumph showed in Ji Li’s small eyes. He then muttered, “You only have yourself to blame for this.”

But in the next moment, the body of Bi Jiang—the one that had been run through from back to chest by the flaming fist—instantly dissolved into a pool of water.

“Hm?!” Ji Li’s small eyes flew wide in shock. “Water Illusion Body!” he cried out.

“When did he—?!”

Water Illusion Body was a Profound Tier Low Grade Technique. It allowed the user to transform their body into a water clone that could be used for combat, escape, or luring enemies. It was one of Bi Jiang’s signature moves.

‘This is bad!’ His momentary joy was instantly shattered as his opponent turned the tables.

Ripples spread through the empty air beside Ji Li, and a figure materialized from them. A flash of killing intent crossed Bi Jiang’s eyes as he spoke, his voice cold. “It’s over, Fellow Daoist Ji.”

“Sea-Covering True Fist!”

He raised his hand and pressed down on the air. WHOOSH! The void itself seemed to fill with a surging ocean, incredibly heavy, as if it held the force of millions of tons of water. Then, Bi Jiang clenched his hand into a fist, concentrating the power of the roiling sea, and punched through the void, blasting it toward Ji Li’s chest in an instant!
