Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Junior Brother, You Don’t Have to Be So Cautious
"By the way, if I remember correctly, the conflict between the Nangong Family and the Ye Family has something to do with Junior Brother Liu. How do you plan to handle it?"
Xie Xichen, who was about to leave, seemed to have remembered something and couldn’t help but ask.
"The engagement was called off long ago, my brother is dead, and the Spirit Contract between the Ye and Nangong Families has vanished. I don’t think there’s anything left to handle."
Nangong Ye’s gaze dimmed. While he believed what Nangong Mu had done was truly unforgivable, the fact remained that his brother was already dead.
’Could it be that the Spirit Chef has other ideas?’
"The young lady from the Ye Family is his junior sister. For the sake of our old rivalry, I’ll give you a piece of advice: the best outcome is for the Nangong Family to let this matter rest."
Xie Xichen nodded. If the Nangong Family didn’t stir up more trouble, everyone would be willing to forget the matter out of respect for the acting Peak Master of Purple Bamboo Peak.
"You don’t need to worry about that. You should hurry up and catch up to them."
Nangong Ye glanced at Xie Xichen. Though his words sounded dismissive, Nangong Ye knew he was right. Besides, he was the one who had chosen to use someone else to do his dirty work. If he had found the Nangong Family members himself back then, he would have just ended up as another casualty.
Nangong Ye was confident in his own strength, but he didn’t believe he could defeat the Hundred Ghosts Elder, a man who had escaped from a True Disciple.
Speaking of the Hundred Ghosts Elder, Nangong Ye had a feeling the man was still alive. The most direct evidence was that the Wandering Souls that used to roam the central area had all vanished overnight.
It was normal for Wandering Souls to disappear, and it was also normal for the unique environment of Fire Dragon Valley to hasten their dissipation. The problem was that they had all vanished in a single night—that was not normal at all.
If someone hadn’t purified them and guided them on, then an Evil Cultivator must have taken them away to enhance their own Cultivation. Nangong Ye had no definitive information, but if it was the latter, it was highly likely related to the Hundred Ghosts Elder.
’But Fire Dragon Valley is basically sealed off by now. Could the Hundred Ghosts Elder still be here?’
Nangong Ye frowned in thought, but his pondering did nothing to quiet the bustling area around him.
Liu Chen stopped in front of a very strange stall. Its owner was dressed in a Black Robe and looked completely out of place, and the items displayed on the stall were even more so.
"What is this?"
Liu Chen pointed to a pearl and couldn’t help asking. The pearl on the stall was identical to the one he had bought for five hundred Spirit Stones at the Black Market back in Purple Cloud Valley. Although five hundred Spirit Stones wasn’t a huge amount, Liu Chen still wanted to know what it was for. He couldn’t have spent all that just for a green-glowing decoration.
"It’s a Life Pearl. By activating it with a special Magic Skill, you can draw upon the Life Force within it to heal injuries. They’re typically created by Evil Cultivators who extract the Life Force from ordinary people."
Liu Chen didn’t get a reply from the stall owner. Instead, Yang Haichen, who had been following close behind, slowly walked over. In fact, when he first saw Liu Chen take out the Life Pearl, he had assumed he knew what it was. He hadn’t expected to hear Liu Chen’s question after getting just a few steps closer.
"I have one too. Do you want it?"
Liu Chen pursed his lips and looked at the stall owner again. He was now certain the item was of little use to him. His five hundred Spirit Stones had basically gone down the drain.
If nothing else, the very fact that it was made by an Evil Cultivator extracting Life Force from ordinary people implied a huge hidden risk. Liu Chen now felt like he was holding a hot potato.
"Three hundred Spirit Stones."
The stall owner glanced at Liu Chen and spoke after a moment of silence. He was only manning the stall under orders. That young master he served was certain someone would buy a Life Pearl, and having an extra one now meant he could earn even more.
"Here."
Liu Chen nodded, taking the Life Pearl from his Storage Ring and handing it to the owner. After a brief inspection, Liu Chen successfully recouped three hundred Spirit Stones.
Compared to a Life Pearl representing the evil deeds of an Evil Cultivator, Liu Chen felt that three hundred Spirit Stones were far more reliable. His only regret was the loss of two hundred Spirit Stones.
Liu Chen slowly walked forward, and Yang Haichen followed right behind him.
"Junior Brother, if there’s anything you want to buy, just say the word. Our fellow disciples from Purple Cloud Valley will surely find a way to get it for you."
Yang Haichen couldn’t help but ask. If any of the Purple Cloud Valley disciples had what Liu Chen needed, it was better to let them earn the Spirit Stones than to let Liu Chen’s money flow elsewhere.
"I want to sell some things. And I need to do it secretly, without anyone noticing."
Liu Chen said to Yang Haichen in a low voice. He had two magic techniques and two Princes’ weapons from the Black Feather Dynasty. Keeping them was useless. More importantly, if the two magic techniques started circulating, he could use the ensuing chaos to his advantage.
"Things from a Loose Cultivator? If that’s the case, Junior Brother, you don’t need to be so careful."
Yang Haichen shook his head. He didn’t believe for a second that Liu Chen had reached the central area without encountering any trouble. Even if Liu Chen had been wearing the uniform of an Inner Sect Disciple—which he wasn’t—there would still be reckless Loose Cultivators and traitors from Purple Cloud Valley looking for trouble.
Selling items taken from Loose Cultivators openly wouldn’t cause any problems. No one would say a thing about it, so there was no need for such secrecy.
"Senior Brother, see for yourself."
Liu Chen glanced at Yang Haichen and handed him a Storage Ring. Yang Haichen sent his Spiritual Sense into the ring and saw over a dozen Spiritual Artifacts. Four of them looked completely different from the rest. The one of the highest quality looked a bit like the Spiritual Artifact once used by the Eldest Prince of the Black Feather Dynasty, Yu Haoyong.
In addition, there were two Secret Manuals: the Spirit Wheel Skill and the Spirit Arrow Technique. These were the Basic Magic Techniques mastered by the Black Feather Dynasty’s Guards.
"Junior Brother, where did you get these things?"
Yang Haichen withdrew his gaze and couldn’t help but stare at Liu Chen. If he couldn’t sense that his junior brother’s Cultivation was still at the Body Tempering Early Stage, he would have suspected him of hiding his true power.
"Back in the outer area, I made Spiritual Cuisine for a senior for a few days. That’s how I obtained two pillars of light. Before that senior sent me into the central area, he told me he wouldn’t let me come away empty-handed. But after I arrived, I forgot all about it. Then one morning, I woke up and this Storage Ring was just sitting in my room."
Liu Chen gave Yang Haichen a helpless look. Yang Haichen’s expression immediately turned grim. According to this story, that unknown senior had snuck directly into the Purple Cloud Valley disciples’ gathering place, left the Storage Ring, and then departed without a trace.
No one had noticed anything unusual from start to finish. If Liu Chen hadn’t mentioned it, no one would have ever known.
"I think you can sell these things directly to the Black Feather Dynasty, Junior Brother. You should be able to get a good price."
Yang Haichen took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. If that senior had harbored any malicious intent, it was likely no one from Purple Cloud Valley would have survived.
"But hasn’t the Black Feather Dynasty already left?"
Liu Chen couldn’t help but glance at him. ’Could there still be people from the Black Feather Dynasty here?’ If so, then someone from the Three Immortal Sects must have reached an agreement with Yu Haoyong of the Black Feather Dynasty.
"They have indeed left. But Junior Brother, you can always sell them after you leave this place."
