Chapter 124: Chapter 124: It Seems We Had the Same Idea

The churning lava drew closer and closer, its oppressive presence growing stronger. Crimson splashes of it landed on Liu Chen’s Spiritual Power Shield, making his heart tense.

But when the splashes fell, the Spiritual Power Shield did indeed consume a significant amount of Spiritual Power, but the damage was completely different from what he had expected.

After verifying his guess once more, Liu Chen slowly sank into the lava.

The moment he touched the lava, intense heat washed over him, drenching him in sweat as his Spiritual Power consumption suddenly spiked. ℴ

A few breaths later, Liu Chen, standing on his Spirit Sword, looked up to see a layer of churning lava and looked down to see the same. Between these two layers of lava were several paths, and at the end of these paths was a massive dragon’s head.

The paths were littered with charred bone fragments. It seemed that some lucky people had discovered this place in the past, only to have died here due to various accidents.

Landing on a path, Liu Chen put away his Flying Sword. The high temperature here made him feel a bit stuffy, but this was an effect he experienced only after his Body Protection Technique had evolved into something unique to him. An ordinary Cultivator, even if they were lucky enough to land on a path after falling, would have to constantly protect themselves with Spiritual Power. Once their Spiritual Power ran out, they would become part of the bone fragments.

After fully adapting to the conditions, Liu Chen didn’t head straight for the end of the path. Instead, he made a round through the piles of bone fragments and found a total of eighteen Storage Rings. After collecting all of them, he finally started walking slowly toward the dragon’s head.

The instant he stepped into the Dragon Head Sect, a figure charged directly at him.

Liu Chen subconsciously struck out with his palm. The figure was sent flying and transformed into a crimson Soul Ring in mid-air.

’A Soul Slave?’

Liu Chen picked up the crimson Soul Ring and surveyed the area. It was a large hall. In the center of the hall was a crimson pillar of light, which represented a spot. Surrounding it were over a dozen stone platforms.

There was a Soul Ring on each stone platform, but most were damaged. Only four or five were perfectly preserved, and even among those, only two contained Soul Slaves.

Behind the crimson pillar of light was the most special stone platform. A dragon’s head was carved on it, and one could faintly see eighteen invisible chains sealing a dragon-shaped Soul Ring.

’Fire Dragon Valley... could it be that a fire dragon was really born here a long time ago?’

Liu Chen narrowed his eyes, his gaze filled with astonishment. If the Soul Slave that had ambushed him was the strongest among the others, then the aura emanating from this sealed Soul Ring was enough to make even him feel a little fearful.

Liu Chen was currently at the Meridian Passage Middle Stage. With the enhancement from the Peak Path, fighting someone at the Meridian Passage Late Stage was no problem at all. Yet, the fluctuations emanating from this Soul Ring made him feel a little fearful; the Soul Slave inside had to be at the Meridian Passage Peak level at the very least.

’I should see if I can take it. This is probably the greatest opportunity in Fire Dragon Valley.’

Liu Chen first collected the other Soul Rings, then slowly walked toward the final stone platform. As he got closer, he discovered that there were words carved on it.

"Successor who finds this by fate, remember: do not rashly open this Soul Ring before you have achieved Great Success in the Soul Control Technique."

After reading the words aloud, Liu Chen took the crimson Soul Ring. An invisible wave washed over him, making his heart palpitate, but that was all. The Soul Ring was like a cage, firmly imprisoning the Soul Slave that was at least at the Meridian Passage Peak.

’My luck is pretty good. No wonder there’s a never-ending stream of Ghost Cultivators in Fire Dragon Valley. So the original legacy is here.’

After placing the Soul Ring into the Storage Ring his master had given him, Liu Chen finally breathed a sigh of relief. The hint the female ghost had given him when she dissipated had now been useful. All he had to do was activate the pillar of light in front of him, and then he could go back to peacefully cultivating while selling Spiritual Cuisine.

The only regret was that Liu Chen hadn’t brought a Token with him this time; otherwise, he wouldn’t have made a wasted trip.

After triple-checking that there was nothing else of value, Liu Chen walked out of the hall, preparing to leave.

Above the lava, Yu Haolin and Yu Haohong stood together, silently staring down at the lava below.

Behind them was the bound Yu Haoyong. The Eldest Prince’s expression was currently ghastly. He had survived his deathmatch with Nangong Ye, yet after the battle, his two younger brothers had taken advantage of his severe injuries to restrain him.

"Don’t stare at me like that, Eldest Brother. We didn’t want this either, but with Second Brother and Third Brother dead, you are the only obstacle to us taking that position."

Yu Haohong looked over with a smile. ’Since Nangong Ye’s strength is beyond our imagination, rather than trying to avenge Third Brother, it’s better to eliminate our most troublesome competitor. When Fourth Brother approached me, I found it a little hard to believe, but on second thought, this really is the simplest solution.’

’All I’ll have to do then is kill Fourth Brother, and everything will be over. I will lead the Black Feather Dynasty to crush the Three Immortal Sects, bring the puppet Great Xia Dynasty under my control, and become the one and only king of the Black Feather Dynasty.’

"Let’s do it. It won’t look good if anyone else sees us."

Yu Haolin shook his head. With a wave of his hand, his two Guards directly threw Yu Haoyong’s two severely injured Guards into the lava.

Amidst the churning crimson waves, Yu Haohong appeared behind Yu Haoyong and kicked him straight into the lava.

After the three of them had fallen, Yu Haolin and Yu Haohong looked at each other, and their four Guards instantly began to fight fiercely.

"It seems we were thinking the same thing."

Yu Haolin narrowed his eyes. Yu Haohong didn’t answer, instead drawing a longsword.

"There is only one position. This is our destiny."

Yu Haohong spoke in a somber tone. The next second, several figures emerged from the shadows. These were the Loose Cultivators he had recruited, all for this very moment. Only one Prince of the Black Feather Dynasty would be able to return alive, and for that, he was willing to sacrifice anything.

"You have a point, but you’ve misunderstood one thing. Only absolute strength can achieve victory."

A smile appeared on Yu Haolin’s face. A jet-black Cyan Eagle materialized behind him, and the Spiritual Power fluctuations of a Meridian Passage Realm Beginner emanated from it as it flapped its wings.

The Loose Cultivators who had stepped out on command were suddenly stunned. Right now, they wished they could retreat. This wasn’t what the Fifth Prince had told them.

’How could ordinary Body Tempering Late Stage cultivators possibly defeat a Meridian Passage Beginner on the Peak Path? And our opponent isn’t some resource-poor Loose Cultivator, but the genuine Fourth Prince of the Black Feather Dynasty!’

Below the lava, Liu Chen, who had just been preparing for Sword Flight, was almost hit by the three falling figures. He was about to do something when he saw Yu Haoyong. ’If that guy discovers the pillar of light, there’s a ninety percent chance he’ll use it to trade for Spiritual Cuisine.’

So, Liu Chen snatched the three of them out of the air and pulled them onto the path.

"Thank you for saving my life, Senior."

After his movement was restored, Yu Haoyong didn’t even have time to be surprised by his surroundings before immediately offering his thanks.

"You’re thanking me too soon."

Liu Chen deliberately altered his voice. Then, he took out the Cyan Eagle Blood Mark that he had been keeping in his Storage Ring and slapped it directly onto Yu Haoyong.

Releasing the Solid Spirit Technique, Liu Chen used his Spiritual Power to suppress the Cyan Eagle Blood Mark, forcing it to merge into Yu Haoyong’s body.

"So it was you!"
