Chapter 276: Chapter 151: Guiyuan of Myriad Woods, Endless Life
The oppressive, deathly silence of Chaotic Bone Ridge was utterly shattered in that instant!
"KILL—!"
Following Chu Bai’s signal as he landed, two hundred guards who had long been lying in wait erupted from the shadows on all sides like a bursting flood.
"The Official Army! It’s the Evil Suppression Department!"
"Damn it, how did they sneak in? Where are the sentries!"
Cries of alarm, the hum of activating Dharma Artifacts, and shouts of battle wove into a chaotic din.
In this wasteland beyond the reach of the Law Net, these normally lawless Wild Cultivators, for the first time, felt the icy killing intent of Great Zhou’s iron law.
"There he is! Kill him!"
Deep within the camp, a dense, blue-black Demon Qi suddenly erupted from the dry well.
Immediately after, an old man with a withered face, dressed in a long, pitch-black sheepskin robe, shot into the sky. His eyes were long and narrow, his pupils flickering with a green light like Ghost Fire. This was none other than Black Sheep, the leader of the True Spirit Association’s outpost.
The moment Black Sheep appeared, he saw Chu Bai standing at the edge of the camp, watching him with a cold gaze.
His gaze fell upon the lifeless sentry lying in the snow, and a rush of old and new hatreds surged through him.
"You junior, how dare you ruin my grand plans!"
Black Sheep roared, unleashing the full might of his Ninth-Layer Perfection of Qi Cultivation. The sheer pressure caused the surrounding dead trees to explode.
He thrust his withered hands forward, a brilliant green light flaring in his palms:
"Wood Charm Soul Devouring!"
Following his furious shout, the dead grass on the ground instantly grew wild, transforming into dozens of thick, blue-black vines covered in barbed, poisonous thorns.
The vines traveled under the ground like giant pythons, kicking up clouds of dirt and stone. In an instant, they had sealed off all of Chu Bai’s escape routes and were shooting viciously toward his vital points!
This was his signature move, a technique he had honed for decades, capable of instantly strangling many Cultivators.
However, facing this overwhelming Wood Element killing move, Chu Bai didn’t move an inch. He didn’t even draw the Long Saber from his back.
His Divine Thought, spanning nearly eight hundred yards, had already perceived the trajectory of every vine and the weak points in their Spiritual Power with perfect clarity.
From his [Microscopic]-level perspective, Black Sheep’s seemingly powerful attack was actually riddled with flaws.
"Break."
Chu Bai formed a sword-finger, a faint five-colored light swirling at its tip.
"SWOOSH SWOOSH SWOOSH—!"
Dozens of deep blue [Spirit Water Needles] instantly condensed in front of him.
Each needle was as fine as a hair, yet each one precisely struck the weakest points in the vines’ Spiritual Power circulation.
Amidst a rapid series of muffled thuds, the menacing poisonous vines froze mid-air. Then, like dead grass that had lost its support, they disintegrated inch by inch about three feet from Chu Bai, turning into a cloud of scattered Spiritual Qi residue.
"Hm?!"
Black Sheep’s pupils contracted, and his expression changed drastically.
He could sense that his opponent’s Cultivation was only at the Qi Cultivation Eighth Layer. Even for an elite from a place like the Great Zhou Immortal Dynasty, where resources were monopolized, the chasm between Cultivation realms was difficult to cross.
And yet, with that last move, his opponent had used a level of control so exquisite, so frighteningly precise, that he had deconstructed his Magic Technique!
’This level of mastery over Magic Techniques... how could a Cultivator who looks so young possibly possess it?’
A storm raged in Black Sheep’s heart, but he was, after all, the battle-hardened leader of the Wild Cultivators. The screams of his subordinates reached his ears, and he knew the encirclement was complete.
If he couldn’t quickly kill the young man leading the charge, his entire outpost would be annihilated today.
’He must have a Secret Technique... no wonder he dares to show off in front of me!’
Black Sheep let out a malevolent laugh, his eyes brimming with killing intent. A Withered Wood Staff suddenly appeared in his hand, the sickly green Spiritual Light at its tip so dense it was almost tangible:
"Since you’re so eager to die, I’ll grant your wish!"
Instead of retreating, Black Sheep dove down like a goshawk, infusing his entire body with the vast Spiritual Power of the Qi Cultivation Ninth Layer.
He intended to use his superior Realm to crush Chu Bai utterly in the shortest time possible, meeting force with force!
Amidst the ruins of Chaotic Bone Ridge, the air was forcibly torn apart by two completely different Spiritual Pressures.
On one side was a blue-black Wood Element Spiritual Power, as deep and rooted as ancient deadwood, sinister and violent.
On the other was a Five Elements Spiritual Light, an interwoven tapestry of five colors, perfectly smooth and radiant, and precise to the extreme.
Every time the two forces collided, a thunderous boom erupted. The resulting shockwaves pulverized the nearby ruins within a radius of several dozen feet, turning them to dust that filled the air.
Black Sheep’s face was now twisted in a snarl, his earlier condescension completely gone.
He had been stuck at the Ninth-Layer Perfection of Qi Cultivation for many years, and the Spiritual Power in his body was as vast as a deep pool. Every one of his moves carried a virulent poison capable of corroding Divine Thought. A typical Late-stage Qi Cultivator couldn’t hope to block it—the slightest touch would have already drained them of their Essence Blood.
"Junior, let’s see just how long your Spiritual Power can last!"
Black Sheep let out a piercing shriek and slammed his Withered Wood Staff into the ground.
[Secret Technique: Ten Thousand Woods Prison!]
In an instant, the ground in a five-hundred-foot radius exploded, and countless thick, python-like, pitch-black vines burst from the earth.
The vines twisted and writhed wildly in the air, forming a massive, spherical cage in a mere instant that trapped Chu Bai securely in its center.
A foul-smelling green slime oozed from the surface of the vines. Wherever it dripped, deep pits were corroded into the hard, frozen earth, and a harsh hissing sound filled the air.
"Crush!"
Black Sheep made a grasping motion with both hands, and the massive wooden cage began to rapidly shrink inward. Each vine weighed over five tons and carried a terrifying force capable of crushing Fine Steel.
However, at the center of this storm, Chu Bai’s eyes were as clear and cold as winter stars.
