Cultivation Begins with Caring for Sister-in-law
Chapter 1038 - 1047: Return to the Small World
"What's wrong? Did you come over for something?"
Fairy Yi didn't tell Chen Mo about her situation and asked.
"Oh no..." Chen Mo thought to himself that this was bad, then said, "Fairy Yi, I just stewed some demon beast meat, it smells amazing, and I wanted to come find you to eat together. I didn't expect this to happen."
Saying this, Chen Mo scratched the back of his head, gazing at Fairy Yi: "Fairy Yi, are you really okay?"
Fairy Yi shook her head and said, "Let's go."
"Huh?" Chen Mo was taken aback.
"Didn't you say you stewed some demon beast meat?" Fairy Yi had just consumed a large amount of spiritual power and was somewhat hungry, needing to replenish a little.
"Oh." Chen Mo suddenly understood, then muttered to himself, "It's been so long, I wonder if it's burnt."
...
"It's not burnt." Chen Mo tore off a piece to taste, then fished a piece of wolf leg from the pot and handed it to Fairy Yi: "Fairy Yi, try this."
"It really is good."
Fairy Yi didn't hesitate, took it, tasted a bite, and the meat was already tender and melted in the mouth.
"Fairy Yi, you should eat more. I still have plenty left uncooked." Chen Mo said.
Fairy Yi quickly finished the wolf leg that Chen Mo gave her, then proactively fished a fragrant and glistening piece of tender meat from the pot and began to eat.
To be honest, second realm demon beast meat barely helps her, purely satisfying her appetite and restoring stamina.
After eating, she noticed Chen Mo staring at her, frowned slightly, and said, "Why are you looking at me? You should eat too."
"Seeing how much Fairy Yi is enjoying it, it seems she's really fine."
Chen Mo awkwardly replied, his mind recalling the intimate embrace from before. He found himself becoming enamored with Fairy Yi, and if they continued interacting, he feared he would become obsessed, quickly averting his gaze.
Fairy Yi could eat so much, even more than him.
One wolf, Fairy Yi ate over half, and hearing her say, it was just an appetizer.
Chen Mo's mouth fell slightly open.
Fairy Yi took out a handkerchief, wiped her lips free from nonexistent grease, and softly said, "For cultivators, being able to eat is a form of cultivation. Those who can't eat have limited achievements."
"Fairy Yi speaks wisdom." Chen Mo thought for a moment, agreeing with Fairy Yi's logic. Immediately, he retrieved a body of a bear-type second realm demon beast from his Qiankun Bracelet, which was much larger than the wolf-type demon beast they just ate, and relatively harder to prepare.
Before long, the two had eaten the entire bear demon beast, Fairy Yi having the larger portion.
"Fairy Yi, here, have a bowl of soup." Chen Mo poured a bowl of broth for Fairy Yi. The water used to stew the demon beast meat was lake water, rich in spiritual qi, not to be wasted.
Fairy Yi took it and drank it down in one go. Her sipping might not have been elegant, but in Chen Mo's eyes, it was beautiful.
Once Fairy Yi glanced over, Chen Mo quickly lowered his head to avoid meeting her gaze.
He actually felt embarrassed, shy.
He couldn't even remember when he last felt this way, how many years ago it was.
Chen Mo sat on the grass, sipping soup, feeling a wave of heat surging within him, rumbling and pounding through his flesh, his vital energies strengthening, even his skin becoming more resilient.
If he ate like this every day and added spiritual medicine, he believed it wouldn't take long for not only his Vajra Longevity Skill to break through again, but his spiritual cultivation would also advance further.
...
The next day, while stewing demon beast meat, Chen Mo also added spiritual medicine to the pot. He went to call Fairy Yi again.
Whereas the first time he called Fairy Yi to eat, Chen Mo was merely being polite, this time he had another intention — he genuinely wanted to dine with her, a psychological desire.
That evening, as Chen Mo and Fairy Yi enjoyed dinner together, relishing the two-person atmosphere, even though Fairy Yi might not have felt the same, Huang Lingling arrived.
Not only did she collect three thousand seven hundred fire spirit pills, but possibly out of a compensatory mindset, she also gifted Chen Mo a bottle of elixir that extended mortal longevity.
Chen Mo politely invited Huang Lingling to join the meal. He truly was just being polite, but Huang Lingling decided to stay.
This made Chen Mo regretfully want to smack his lips.
When Huang Lingling left, a touch of reluctance emerged in Chen Mo's heart.
He knew this was not reluctance towards Huang Lingling, but towards Fairy Yi.
Earlier he had told Fairy Yi that once he exchanged for the Seven-Turned Spirit Fruit, he'd return to the Small World; in the future, he wouldn't know when they'd meet again.
He didn't know what mindset compelled him to say, "Fairy Yi, since I've obtained the Seven-Turned Spirit Fruit, I'll be leaving tomorrow."
In his heart, he longed for Fairy Yi to ask him to stay.
Fairy Yi really did ask him to stay, perhaps sensing Chen Mo's potential for growth, she said, "Have you seriously considered staying? Here, your future would definitely be broader than returning to the Small World."
However, Chen Mo refused once more.
His feelings were conflicting.
On one hand, he wished Fairy Yi would ask him to stay, on the other, he genuinely didn't want to remain.
He knew he had fallen for Fairy Yi.
Whether attracted by her beauty or something else.
He just liked her in this way.
But he didn't say it aloud.
He clearly understood that he was unworthy of liking her now.
Not long after Huang Lingling left, Huang Su came.
Huang Su's arrival surprised Fairy Yi a bit, but upon consideration, it made sense.
After all, Chen Mo had saved her, and a day had passed, it was fitting to come by and greet him.
"Elder Huang Yi, can I have a private talk with Young Master Chen Mo?" Huang Su asked.
"Go ahead." Fairy Yi gracefully departed.
"Did you come for something?" Chen Mo looked at Huang Su, puzzled.
"Can we go somewhere else?" Huang Su asked.
