Chapter 328: Chapter 328 - The Returning Body and the Unbroken Cycle

Back at the ruined training ground, Su Bai finally found the first true weakness.

True Needle Intent followed a thin intersection within the Heavenly Law seal.

The golden Spirit Root had already spread its compatible heavenly aura across the structure, preventing the remnant from immediately tightening around his foundation.

Su Bai carefully separated one connection.

The seal trembled.

"..."

Nothing collapsed.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

He continued.

Each connection he removed exposed another beneath it.

The process was slow, but the structure steadily loosened.

Eventually, the first complete layer unraveled.

The Macro-Taiji immediately moved more smoothly.

Su Bai felt it.

The obstruction was weakening.

He drew another thread through the golden Spirit Root.

This time, True Needle Intent found the next vulnerable point much faster.

The Heavenly Law seal began coming apart.

Su Bai’s heartbeat strengthened.

Inside the ruined body, a damaged meridian reconnected, then more.

The Yin-Yang cycle turned once more.

For the first time since his death, the current passed through the physical foundation without immediately collapsing.

Su Bai’s eyes opened.

The final strands of Heavenly Law were still there, but he could already feel the end.

He smiled.

The heavens had apparently forgotten something important.

Once Su Bai understood a problem, it became much more difficult to kill him with the same one twice.

...

The final layer of the Heavenly Law seal was the most difficult.

Su Bai had expected that.

The golden Spirit Root continued spreading its aura through the seal.

True Needle Intent searched patiently.

The Dao-Shattering Jade kept the structure clear within Su Bai’s mind.

Minutes passed.

Nobody disturbed him.

Even Lu Canghai had finally stopped asking whether everything was all right.

Su Bai suspected his master had realized that the answer would probably remain "maybe" until this was finished.

A tiny weakness appeared.

Su Bai immediately focused on it.

The structure shifted, then he adjusted.

Another weakness appeared beside it.

The two were connected.

Su Bai followed them carefully until he found a third point hidden deeper within the Heavenly Law.

His spiritual perception narrowed.

’There.’

True Needle Intent moved.

The three points separated almost simultaneously.

The Heavenly Law seal shuddered.

A pale-gold pattern briefly appeared across Su Bai’s dead body.

Everyone nearby saw it.

Lu Canghai stepped forward before forcing himself to stop.

The pattern brightened, then it began breaking apart.

One line vanished.

A second followed.

The remaining traces scattered through Su Bai’s foundation like fading fragments of sunlight.

The obstruction disappeared.

Su Bai felt the change instantly.

The connection between his Nascent Soul and Nascent Origin opened completely.

The Macro-Taiji surged.

Yin flowed through his Nascent Soul.

Yang answered from the physical foundation.

The two sides connected.

For the first time since the Heavenly Burial Palm killed him, the full cycle completed without interruption.

Su Bai’s body jerked.

His heart contracted violently.

Blood moved through vessels that had remained nearly still since his death.

The Infinite Dantian responded.

The nine Gateway Dantians followed.

Qi began moving through the damaged Myriad-Path Meridian Web.

At first, the circulation was painfully uneven.

Some pathways were barely intact.

Others were partially collapsed.

Su Bai did not force them.

The Macro-Taiji continued turning.

With each rotation, its balanced Yin-Yang cycle moved through the ruined body, stabilizing the damaged foundation and pushing the recovery forward.

The Nascent Origin remained bright beneath the nine Tribulation Marks, while his external Nascent Soul maintained the spiritual half of the cycle.

Finally, another part of his foundation finally awakened.

The Myriad-Calamity Vajra Body.

It had never forgotten what happened.

Every crushing impact from the Heavenly Burial Palm had been recorded before death interrupted the body’s ability to respond.

Now that circulation had returned, the constitution finally began acting on that record.

Su Bai felt the change immediately.

The resistance already developed against the repeated crushing force translated into recovery.

Broken tissue began repairing.

Crushed muscles gradually reformed.

Fractured bones shifted beneath his skin.

A series of unpleasant cracking sounds came from the corpse.

Lu Canghai’s face changed.

Huo Yan glanced toward him.

"Do not interfere."

"I know."

Another crack sounded.

Lu Canghai’s eyelid twitched.

"I still dislike hearing it."

Nobody blamed him.

Su Bai himself would have preferred not to hear it.

Unfortunately, his Nascent Soul could hear perfectly well.

’Wonderful.’

His ribs were slowly returning to their proper positions.

One damaged organ began functioning again, then another.

The Macro-Taiji continued feeding the process.

The heartbeat strengthened. His breathing returned next.

The first breath was shallow. The second was painful. By the third, his chest could finally expand without feeling as though everything inside it might collapse again.

A wave of relief spread through the cultivators watching from outside.

Su Bai continued rebuilding.

The damaged Myriad-Path Meridian Web gradually reconnected under the combined support of the Macro-Taiji and his adapted body.

The ten physical cultivation centers stabilized one after another.

The Infinite Dantian responded most strongly, but the nine Gateway Dantians soon regained enough circulation to support the wider foundation.

Su Bai waited.

Only when the cycle had become stable enough did he attempt the final step.

His external Nascent Soul moved.

The translucent figure opened its eyes.

Everyone around the training ground instinctively became quiet.

Su Bai looked down at his physical body.

It still looked terrible.

Blood covered most of his robes, numerous injuries remained, and his already pale face had become even more bloodless than usual.

At least the body was alive again.

’I’ve returned to worse workplaces.’

The thought appeared automatically.

Su Bai immediately dismissed it.

There were probably limits to how far former employment could be compared to crawling back into one’s own corpse.

His Nascent Soul began descending.

The connection to the Nascent Origin pulled gently.

This time, nothing resisted.

The spiritual figure entered his physical body.

It sank through the Infinite Dantian and returned to the Nascent Origin.

The moment it settled, the Macro-Taiji changed.

The spiritual and physical sides no longer had to bridge the distance between an external Nascent Soul and the body.

The cycle contracted inward.

Yin and Yang rotated smoothly through the reunited foundation.

Su Bai’s fingers twitched first, followed by a faint tremor of his eyelids.

A moment later, he finally opened his eyes.

For several breaths, he simply stared at the sky.

It was strangely blue now that the tribulation clouds were gone.

He inhaled.

Pain spread through his chest.

Su Bai grimaced.

"Still hurts."

Lu Canghai almost laughed and cried at the same time.

"My disciple."

Su Bai slowly turned his head.

His master looked even worse than before.

The tears had dried, but there was still enough emotion on his face to embarrass both of them later.

"Master, I really did come back."

Lu Canghai’s expression tightened.

"Do not say that as though you went somewhere pleasant."

Su Bai smiled weakly.

Around them, the atmosphere finally broke.

Disciples cheered.

Several elders released breaths they had been holding for far too long.

Yan’er immediately tried to run forward until the senior sisters around her caught her.

"Brother Su!"

Su Bai heard her from across the training ground.

He lifted one hand with considerable difficulty.

That was enough.

The girl started crying again.

This time, everyone let her.

The Ancestors approached more calmly.

One of them examined Su Bai’s revived body with spiritual sense.

His expression became increasingly complicated.

"The body is truly recovering."

The first elder looked at Su Bai.

"You returned to the same body after complete physical death."

Su Bai nodded.

"Apparently."

The old man remained silent for several breaths.

"That will require another jade slip."

Several Ancestors immediately looked toward him.

Finally, Su Bai relaxed into the shattered ground.

His body was still rebuilding.

The Myriad-Calamity Vajra Body continued working through the damage, and the Macro-Taiji had finally regained a complete rhythm.

The Nascent Origin remained stable.

The nine Tribulation Marks gradually dimmed after completing their role.

The golden Spirit Root settled within its Gateway Dantian.

Everything was returning to normal.

Or at least whatever counted as normal for him.

Su Bai closed his eyes briefly.

The heavens had killed him.

Yet he had still returned.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

’So even killing me isn’t enough anymore.’

The thought amused him.

For one dangerous moment, he wondered whether Reversal had somehow become ridiculous enough to reverse death itself.

Su Bai immediately rejected that conclusion.

He opened his eyes again.

Perhaps the heavens really had managed to teach him something.

Killing him was possible.

Keeping him dead was apparently much more difficult.
